In November other GMs were saying the Blue Jays “wreaked of desperation”. I wonder what those GMs are saying now? LOL Man we really need Santander and Alonso right now. Desperate is an understatement
Sad but true……most American athletes DO NOT want to play in Canada ( this hurts both the Jays and Raptors ) . The media does its best to avoid this topic because if the average fan grasped this concept then why would they waste their time watching or even following these teams . The die- hard fan will always be there . Also - this applies to coaches / managers too .Just look at the history of Jays and Raptors . Once fired , very few ever find work again . Some exceptions Bobby Cox and Nick Nurse , but generally these individuals just seem to disappear.
Let’s be real other than Toronto and Vancouver what is there to be excited about Canada that would convince & sell an American or International player from Japan, Brazil or Dominican Republic to come up North? Canada is a big after thought when a player thinking of playing. Players are going to LA, Miami, New York or Boston. Some States are tax free, you don’t need to put on a winter jacket, tons of media coverage and Job Opportunities is down south. Canada is no where near the level of the U.S in terms of Lifestyle and Opportunities. Canada is very limited in those resources & if you want to level up your life and career. It’s too boring and most of the time you’re indoors in Canada. It’s okay to visit but not to live forever. Most born Canadian citizens would prefer to move to the U.S if they receive a good job opportunity. It is what it is.
