  • Lamination part of Manuelito's Board, he ask for an Orange and AcquaGreen swirl on the bottom of the board.
    We decide not to do Cut Lap for a grungy result on the deck.
    So we start messing around with color, and I could say that we had FUN.
    Surfboard dimensions are 5'6 x 19" 1/2 x 2 1/4.
    You can check the shaping video for this board If you like to:

    I’ve been shaping since 2017, but I would not declare my self as an expert.
    Everytime I put a surfboard I shaped into the water the exlamation it is always the same "F**k Yeah GALLEGGIA" (it floats).-

    Wow tint job and no cut lap. I can see this for fun. A lot of money for fun.
    Have to start some where.

    I put the fin boxes in first and laminate over them, a lot stronger. Free lap is cool, I like using tape and cut the lam right before it kicks with a razor blade, way less sanding.

      I hate sanding too... But It Is party of the process... I find valid to use a rigid plastic roller, when the lap Is still soft to flat down the lap. Les sanding good Result.

    Good call on the free lap. Epoxy swirls notoriously difficult, I wonder if entropy would be better than kinetix as it's much thinner? Nice video man

      Sorry i was off you tube for a while. Entropy clear Is Better, right know i am using resin research an it mix well and It s more fluid.

    Is this board EPS foam? If so, did you seal it at all? I am about to glass and not sure if I should seal mine!

      If you finish It really Smooth no Need for sealing. In any case use a bit more resin when you laminate.

    Hey what did you use to tint the resin

    • @cerritosway
      @cerritosway  3 года назад +1

      Hey Man, I use water based acrylic color from art shop. Only tips is to not use to much color otherwise concistency of resin become to thick.

      @@cerritosway Hi you said you used waterbased acrylic to tint the resin, I normally buy specific pigment but do you have any problems as I can get all sorts of colours at my local shop

    • @cerritosway
      @cerritosway  3 года назад

      @@chealy74 I choose those color for painting the foam and also for the palette varaiety. They are not the same as proper resin pigment but As I mention earlier the main problem is when you try to put too much color for a total coverage, the resin become to thick and will start to become rubbery and catalize faster. Obviously give it a try on small quantity of resin to test it out.

      @@cerritosway To be honest, you should not use waterbased pigments for tinting resin, especially epoxy. If you use just a tiny bit, ok, but bigger amount will weaken the epoxy which cant cure properly and is not strong enough. Proper pigments and tints for epoxy or polyester have resin base, co it can "bond" chemicaly with used resin. But still you should not use too much, depends on manufacturer, usually 5 to 20% weight of resin mix.. Anyway, nice video and good looking board!!! Cheers

    Tints are transparent. Pigments are opaque. These terms can sometime confuse inexperienced builders.
