Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a transformative approach to local food systems that connects consumers directly to producers. This model promotes sustainable farming practices, enhances food security, and supports local economies. By participating in CSA programs, members gain access to fresh, seasonal produce while investing in the resilience and health of their communities.
In this webinar, we will explore (1) the foundational principles and benefits of Community Supported Agriculture, including its impact on local economies, food security, and supply chains, and (2) the first-hand experiences Dreaming Out Loud, Inc., a successful urban CSA.

Rudy Pacumbaba, State Extension Specialist , Program Coordinator, Alabama Cooperative Extension System
Dr. Rudy Pacumbaba is a State Extension Specialist and Program Co-Coordinator in Horticulture for Urban Agriculture, Home Grounds, Gardens and Home Pest with Alabama Cooperative Extension System. He is assigned to the Urban Extension Unit located on the campus of Alabama A&M University. Before joining the Alabama Cooperative Extension System in 2012, Rudy served for 10 years as an Assistant Professor in Horticulture.
Devonte Howard, Food Hub Director, Dreaming Out Loud Inc.
Devonte Howard is a Washington, DC native with several years of Food and Beverage experience - from working in hotels, restaurants, bars, catering, and amusement parks.
Devonte holds degrees in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management, however, his love for food and people stemmed from growing up in a big family where food brought everyone together. At Dreaming Out Loud, Devonte uses his vast knowledge in food production, develops plans to reduce waste across the food distribution enterprise, connects DREAM Culinary Program participants with career opportunities, and develops production, distribution, and marketing plans for Dreaming Out Loud-branded products. Devonte’s goal in life is to create smiles and full tummies with his food and drinks.
