It's really weird... I started listening to LZ in 1986 at the age of 14. Digging thru my dads albums I found LZ1,LZ2 & LZ4. Like every Huge LZ fan I know every song inside and out. My favorite Zep song has changed over the years... Some of my past favs in no order have been "Out on the Tiles" "Bring it on Home" "The Rover" "Night Flight" "The Ocean" etc etc Even The Rain Song... Here recently I've suddenly fell in love with The Song Remains the Same. Before it was never even in my top 25 at any point. That's the thing about Zeppelin is no matter how long you've listened to them there's always something new to hear. Or hearing it from a different perspective. The guitar is just so amazing in TSRTS. I even enjoyed hearing this guy play the slowed down versions of the different parts and solo. The instant you can hear a LZ song from a slightly different perspective than the thousand of times before then in a sense it's like hearing it for the first time all over again. The songs tend to have such amazing depth that you don't find in most other bands.
I know what you mean. Its weird but sometimes i find myself not wanting to learn a Zep song that i really liked because once I learn it, it takes the mystery and that feeling of when i first heard the song and fell in love with it. But, at the same time when i see someone else besides JP play the song, I can't wait to get home and pick up my guitar and play. But, somehow the magic is lessened. Peace
I loved this tune since the first time. This is pure spirit of Page's genius. I've studied the guitar parts for years. I started at 15, now I'm 43. 28 years of TSRTS!

Dude, this is the holy grail of tutorials!!! Seriously, a lesson could not possibly be better than this. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.
Two things are really good here. First of all, the individual who reproduced this. Really amazing playing! And above all, the individual who wrote this. Mr page was designed from birth to play that instrument 🎸.
3:43 This is such an awesome guitar part of the song and why Jimmy is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. This little part shows how much feel for the music he has. I’m going to have trouble remembering all this stuff. Amazing, just how he put it all together. 👍🤘🤘🤘
This is so well done and very helpful. I've been a musician my entire life but I don't have a lot of experience with guitar. One person spoke on the mystery and magic being lost when uncovering the details in a composition. I find the opposite of this to be true. In my day job, I play symphonies and the more in depth I get into any composition, the sense of magic grows even more. I have no idea how many times I've played the Brahms, Beethoven and Mahler symphonies but for every single time I learn them better, the more they blow me away. Your video tutorial on this incredible song does the same thing. Thanks a ton for putting this together.
I'm 15... when I started playing seriously some 4 years ago I always wanted to learn this song but could never figure it out so I just swept it aside. Now, I'm finally getting around to it. this video is my saving grace lol
Essa música, como muitas outras do Led Zeppelin, é mais uma forte prova de que Jimmy Page seja, talvez, o maior guitarrista de todos os tempos. Seus arranjos e solos são muito bem feitos.
This is a great tutorial, but a huge problem. Page live plays this totally different, on a 12 string although you could fake it a bit with a chorus and a EQ pedal. But for intermediate and so on players, a great start. Still, a tab of TSRTS version from the soundtrack would be great, but then you need the other players in place as well.
I have a looper pedal, and just came across a 12 string.... Thank you, this is going to be fun. I love the slowing down of the solos, it allows the "nuance of the knuckles" to shine through.
This song represents pure rock Majesty and Glory to me. Brilliant tutorial, Claudio. The way Page plays it live falls far away (not short but completely different) from the studio version which seems to dip into a deeper and deeper well of intensity as it unfolds with its many layers (including liberal use of 12-string).
Great job. I bought this album days after it was released and listened to it everyday before school. Have never been able to play it properly, I'll have to spend a little time on your website. Thanks.
The song remains the same even when slowed down. Like some trippy blues. Gonna be fun to learn it finally - I'm 3 mins in to vid and wow legit song to learn it so complex
And the Boogie Mama section of Whole Lotta Love on TSRTS...and the Dazed and Confused lick about 18 mins 20 secs in where he uses a scratch harmonic technique.
I suppose neither Jimmy Page can do this thing now! This song always sounded more easy than it is.Specially this fingering on 8:22-8:26 is amazing and much hard ,at least for me.Thank you for enlightening us...!
Wish Jimmy would comment on this like a DVD commentary. Did bonzo lay down drums in one take? I’m no musician but I’d guess a metronome might not cut it as Jimmy played the guitar layers

"Out on the Tiles" I feel is very overlooked and to me is LZ classic

Wow! Why can't all tutorials be this awesome? The format is perfect, especially with the slow speed segments and sync'd tabs. Thanks Claudio!!

A most excellent lesson, I will start to practice it now
Awesome tone fluidity and feel. Great subtle time changes grace and passing notes
Superb talent
thank you! Really thaaank you!
Perfectly laid out lesson. Others need a lesson from you on how to provide a lesson. And how the F$#K do you get his exact guitar tone? Amazing
You need to try out the „Whole Lotta Humbuckers“ from seymour Duncan, real value for Money

The previous version was a masterpiece!
This one is even more accessible. Grazie mille!
I have a looper pedal, and just came across a 12 string.... Thank you, this is going to be fun. I love the slowing down of the solos, it allows the "nuance of the knuckles" to shine through.

I started playing guitar this summer. Should I even try to learn the solo at 2:18 or should I come back and try in some years?
