The first time I found a blessing shrine in this game I had to stop for a moment just to take in the unique atmosphere. It's so otherworldy

For how ancient the tech in the switch is the Zelda team knows how to take advantage of its hardware. This game looks more stunning than BoTW and the blessing shrines are just the best example of how beautiful this game is. Art direction is through the roof for this game
Leave it to nintendo to take hardware considered severely underpowered by the masses and create some of the most impressive games in history. Graphics aside, any other game of this size and scope would easily be 80+ GB. Nintendo managed to optimize this to fit in a mere 16 GB. We do not give them anywhere near enough credit for how impossibly amazing they are at game development. Id say nothing else really comes close to their mastery of the craft.

@@orange_turtle3412 Monolithsoft have had a major role in the Switch's lineup. Of course there's the Xenoblade games (and their massive worlds), but also they helped with Animal Crossing and designed the world for BotW and TotK. The devs at the studio are super talented.
one thing ive actually noticed with the blessing shrines is that before entering the actual shrine area the preview looks like a normal shrine (so walls)
but to be fair thats pretty much the only thing that slightly bothered me in 90 hours of playtime
Switch has a pretty modern GPU in terms of features, Tegra X1 is easy to port code to it, very feature-rich compared to other mobile hardware like Qualcomm Snapdragons or Apple's GPUs. Yeah it's on an older process and low-power/mobile so memory bandwidth is very limited compared to a Playstation but whatever, just make have the frame buffer smaller. It has a 720p screen on it anyway, what do you need so many pixels for?
I know it's a taste thing, but I think the art direction of these shrines are so much better than the BOTW ones.
Zonai styles and Sheikah styles can only be compared so far, as they both have entirely different factors that make them up. They're apples and oranges, both with their own strengths. But, I am a huge huge fan of the Zonai and their aesthetics, so I'm def inclined to agree that I like them more than Sheikah aesthetics.
You know, I'm something of a fanatic when it comes to blues and purples, so I miss the blue theme of the Sheikah shrines. The Zonai ones are more muted, more greyscale I find.
That being said, I appreciate that they're different, that the Sheikah ones felt more like crazy technology with some mystical power thown in, whereas the Zonai tech feels heavily influenced by magic.
And the MUSIC. The Sheikah shrine music was fine, and fit the motif the the shrines real well, but my goodness, the Zonai shrine music is amazing!
I love them both. I personally can't decide which game has better shrine designs.

Coming from someone in love with the sheikah technology lore, maz koshia, all that stuff- I agree. I like how different they are, and how much more magical these feel. Gives me two ancient technologies to obsess over. (and reminds me of a lighter twilight realm, which is bonus points)

this music is so beautiful, I’m so glad Nintendo did what they did with this game man. So well done. Probably the last perfect Nintendo game we’ll get until metroid prime 4 or another major title. I’m glad I’m here for it all.
Prime 4 will probably end up on the next gen hardware. Since it was revealed, retro has completely restarted development from scratch. So it will likely be a bit longer.

this entire game just makes me want to play twilight princess again, when i first went into a shrine i instantly thought of midnas theme

And there's a musical bit that plays during the cutscene after you beat a shrine that reminds me of the light spirits from Twilight Princess.

i really miss the melancholy Sheikah robot apocalypse vibe you experience in BotW, but i have to admit that the magical and ancient Zonai tech in TotK is stunning

The Shrines of this game are very well executed
The first time I hooped in this shrine ... I just started crying at its name for some reason. I even went back just to appreciate the unique atmosphere.

the first time i got here i was at the buildup to the wind temple & high asl. just took everything in and sat there for a solid 10-15 minutes

I love this little bit of the Triforce chamber's theme from A Link To the Past they snuck into this track!
Great Ear! The team did such a good job with the musical callbacks! Even in BotW Did a whole video on my other channel and will probably have to do one for this game too!
I like that you can hear some skywards sword motifs, yet such as common instruments as opposed to melodies we may recognize unlike the forgotten temple.
Something else that's is VERY interesting is that I could have sworn midnas theme was reminiscing, I like the theory that the zonai and twili are connected, there is a good video on explaining how they could be out there. There's a lot, I enjoy it.
