Absolutely. Insane level needed just to make some money. But Karue is on a mission which is not only about price money. Great stuff and a role model for many - you can do it if you really try.
At the pro level, it seems very hard to win matches consistently without any special weapons e.g. big forehand or serve, consistent drop shots, tricky slices, etc., as everyone strikers the ball well in general.
Yep, in the futures tour is filled with young talents and grinders these days. There was a reason David Ferrer and Andy Murray could barely win a challenger tournament at the end of their careers as soon as their level dropped just a little bit.
I see some negative comments here about Karue, but havent really seen a single comment about the following: why isn't anyone discussing the fact that Eliot is a good player, and is actually fighting hard for himself too? Gee, it's not as if any player (eg Karue) has a right to simply get things given to them on a silver platter. This is a contest, and both players are fighting hard. Yes, Karue lost. But Eliot had to play well enough to win. Give Eliot some kudos for a job well done. As opposed to simply saying one player played badly, how about acknowledging that another player played very well?
Good point. It was interesting watching this match as an older tennis player because it felt in that third set like young vs old and the old guy was cracking. Maybe that wasn't it. But that Eliot dude is damn good yeah. The challenge with age is keeping EVERYTHING together -- fitness and mental toughness. It's extremely hard. But of course more and more guys are doing it.
Karues forehand is looking alot better since the start of the season. Less floaty spinny and punching the zone now with a tighter semi western if im not mistaken. His backhand is Top 50 level and hes getting more aces than the start of the season. I think overall hes becoming a better player despite the losses here and there. Im a tennis instructor and trained 2 players with similar talent but not as good as Karue. Both 700+ ATP, and if I was Karues coach, id stay on top of the fitness and weight training throughout the off season but most important, id have him shave off 15 pounds of fat (obviously hes not fat) while gaining 5 pounds of muscle during the off season. Hes still super young but 30 is a bit older in tennis. If he can keep the strength up and be 10 pounds lighter on his feet, all this physical training hes done this year will payoff double (almost like a free 50 rankings for being lighter) and I can see him breaking into the top 100. Call me crazy but I think he has that type of ability, and fitness/footwork at this level is 80% of the battle. Im not gonna get into the mental side as Karue has showed me numerous times that he has grit and determination and doesn't let his mind get in the way nearly as much as it could for your typical pro player.
I agree with this. I think Karue is also coming at this from a point of really only getting "match fit" in recent times. At the age of 30, it's not like he's been on the tour since he was 16 or 17 and grinding it out constantly. He took time away, and is getting back into it, and I think he probably made good physical progress to get back to maybe 95%, but to get that last little bit may take time. And thats fine. What we're seeing is a pretty decent run. As you say, if he can get a little lighter AND stronger, that will only help.
Your forehand and backhand baseline shots are all positioning the opponent to finish the point. For example, Zverev, it's all technically great but he doesn't try and end out rallies fast enough against some tougher opponents - I'm sure Federer just publicly stated he isn't aggressive enough. If you just let your opponent get into their rhythm they'll just hit one out wide or come in on the ball and hit a really tight angle. It's like playing a pusher, you hit really high quality balls and they block them all back with no swing then hit a winner. The only time it's worthwhile to hit flat 90-100% power is when you think your opponent can't make the ball or it will force them to move quite far across the court.
Good year for Karue but he simply does not have the fitness to compete consistently in even best of three matches at this point. He needs to make massive fitness/diet changes if he wants to make any sort of potential run to the top 150. He gasses out constantly
@@JAM-fm8ltI played futures for 3 years, but didn't start playing tennis until I was 16. A bit late. Mentally and physically I was stronger than Karue, but I had too many technical deficits. I trained like crazy. My mindset was better, commitment, better attitude to tennis. That's what Karue lacks in order to progress even further.
@@Tennis5478 People will hate you for this comment, but you're absolutely right. I've noticed that Karue plays "too chill" - he just doesn't have that fire.
Karue hates to train. He does not like Hotel rooms. He does not enjoy the tour. He's doing things that go against his will to live. So why not stop now and get a real job?
Are you his personal friend or something? This is a pretty bizarre take. Not enjoying traveling is a hallmark of MOST tennis professionals. I think you are talking out of your ass and don't know shit.
How does Karue prepare for the matches? Does he lie in the Hotel room and waits for the match to begin. I think it is time to quit before it gets worse. Top 300 it's a great achievement.
This is absolut brutality in this sport if you show a small weakness and get a little bit out of concentration for about 10 minutes everything is complete gone on this lvl of play and you get doomed.🪖🪖🪖
Yeah it is a great lesson for amateurs that you have to be in a mindset of WAR. And you have to enjoy the battle. It's so easy to let it slip away. I have always found Karue to be a fighter -- in part precisely because he is very chill and doesn't let stress get to him.
Tennis is so insanely difficult at this level. Absolute grinders clawing and scratching just to make a living. Cheers to these guys.
Absolutely. Insane level needed just to make some money. But Karue is on a mission which is not only about price money. Great stuff and a role model for many - you can do it if you really try.
Ran out of gas in the 3rd...again. Once Karue gets his stamina up he should be able to close these slugfests out
He needs to take his diet more seriously. Cut out all the processed crap + soft drinks.
@@zachmason868 How TF do you know what his diet is?
@@jaekn tbh I don't know his entire diet but you can see in his videos he drinks coke a lot.
He should try and finish points faster early on in the first set, not just after getting fatigued.
Long year's almost over. Fatigue's understandable. One final push Karue!
Karue lost but I've never seen his forehand look as good as it did in the 1st set.
Yeah, looked like he had this match on lock. Spizzirri definitely took things up a few notches in the 2nd.
It’s alright, Keep pushing Karue 💪
Spizzirri can play. I saw him beat Fonseca in three tight sets to get into the main draw at the 2024 US Open.
Shocking third set - somehow the five-minute bathroom break between sets made Karue even worse :( WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT BATHROOM?! Lol
ran out of gas
What's so funny
Re-gripping?

Maybe he should try and foster more of a fanbase then ? Doubt he's very upset about winning lol

that 2-0 0-15 point must be the longest point of all time
Karue is literally better than this man... sucks to see him lose when we all know that should be on the winning end of some of these maches
@@Shaehaank yes i agree. He more talented than Spizzirri but without fitness you will always lose matches like that.
Played so well in the 1st then tanked the 3rd again.. I'm a big fan but how is he gonna play best of 5 GS qualies ?
qualifiers are best of three sets too... only main grandslam matches are best of five sets
What’s Karue’s record in 3 set matches?
Karue is so old he saw how the Giza pyramids were built.
The 3 set issues continue…that’s tough to see. I really don’t get it
Tough loss for Karue. But overall he has had a really good year.
Karue playing better than I can remember
Spizzirri is a strong opponent.

Close but no cigar Carrousel
He did it great on the first set. Is hard to play for so long, anyway we support Karue!
Her assertion that the Democrat party needs to lean further into identity politics is exactly why I no longer affiliate with them.
I knew in the first Set at 2:0 that he will lose. He was already pumping after 5 longer rallies. He is really in a bad shape.
Ok. Let's see you win 1 set against him.
