Yeah, they do have that 90's to 2000's vibe, but with a modern twist. Its what i love about them. I lost touch with the music that they have here in the states. I just couldn't feel it anymore. (Maybe cause im too old now. Lol) Xg, kpop and other foreign artist lit that fire for me again. Starting to think the music industry here in the states are on a totally different agenda, imo.
They have a whole international team producing their songs. I'm kinda quoting the documentary here, but just to give you a example, Simon Jakops (producer and the mind behind XG), back in 2019 (3 years before the debut) went to Atlanta and collaborated with a bunch of local producers and songwriters, majority black, to produce Shooting Star. None of them were familiar with Kpop/Jpop and were surprised by how he was writing songs for a girl group that doesn't even had a name yet. Simon is really proud of his team and it is special for him that everyone is from different nationalities.

Sienna has been with XG since their trainee days around 2020 and also our Xtraordinary Girls have been inspired by the lab for so long covering their dances since 2017. LEFT RIGHT was their most RnB heavy piece, they take inspiration from so many old school RnB and Hip-Hop artists such as TLC, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, etc. If I were to recommend their best release so far it would either have to be SHOOTING STAR or PUPPET SHOW. But I’ll be honest with you XG has never missed and the amount of versatility they have when taking on other genres is absolutely unfathomable!!! I see aspects of TLC, Missy Elliott and Aaliyah in this video. As to what to watch next? You have a decent idea of their rap line. And you have a good example of they whole group. If you want a better idea of their damce capabilities. I suggest either Move 1 & all Move 2's Move 1 being a group routine and 2 being individual dance routines for each girl or since you've seen Left Right the dance practice fixed version will give you them dancing to a Sienna routine. If you want better idea of their vocals I suggest Vox 1 where Chisa and Juria take Peaches and make it their own with soul. This reminds me of growing up in the 2000s, looks like y2k magazine ads and theyve got the y2k r&b girl group sound I miss so badly. But they still keep it fresh with their scifi looks that look like a lot of the couture fashion on insta that uses a lot of artistic CG. I love that they arent boxed in to one genre.
