Another great video, Gail. 👍 I tried this, after watching this video, with one of my manual adjusting sergers and it worked perfectly! Thank-you. I had not thought of this technique. I do not think I will try it with my BabyLock because I do not want to alter my Triumph's tension settings.😊
This is so interesting to watch. It this type of stitch something that can only be done on the Bernina brand? I have a BabyLock with auto tension, so I don't know if it would work for me. There are no tension dials for me to manipulate.
Hi, your machine needs tension adjustment capability to do the Twice as Nice stitch. The higher upper looper tension pulls the lower looper to the topside of the fabric to create the double band of color. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions.
@@GailPatriceDesign I tried doing a wide flatlock stitch over a piece of ribbon like one of the Pfaff educators and just could not get it to work right. I couldn't find the video to rewatch it to see what I was doing wrong.
@@elsaloubser2646 Hi Elsa, the Ovation doesn't have tension settings. You can experiment with adjusting the small dial inside the machine, but not sure if it will change the tension enough to get the 2 different stripes. Keep us posted and let us know. We all learn from each other and thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!
Hi Jette, Yes you can do this technique on the L460. Follow the same set up, but you will have to test the tensions. Each machine is a little different . Let me know how you do and send a pic if you can. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!
Wow, Gail, another great video. Thank you so much for all your tutorials. I love the fabric in that sample (both sides). Where is it from and what is in between them to make them so firm?
Hi Gabi, I purchased those fabrics at JoAnn Fabrics as well as the fusible batting. (I love them too!) Glad you enjoyed he video and thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips.
Hi Cindy, the Twice as Nice stitch is formed by manipulating the looper tension settings. The Triumph has a the A,B,C,D stitch selector system so you can’t change the tensions. But you have a beautiful Wave Stitch that will show both looper thread colors on the top side of your project. Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to answer. Thanks for watching!
Hi Mindy , the Twice as Nice stitch is an overlock technique that requires adjusting the looper tension settings. The stitch selector (A,B,C,D) auto sets tensions and doesn’t have a way to change them. So unfortunately I can’t think of a workaround for you to do the Twice as Nice stitch on a Babylock serger. If I do have a solution, I’ll post it. But you do have the wave stitch that is a beautiful way to show 2 different thread colors on a project. Thanks!
Hi Victoria, if your Babylock serger has tension controls, you can do it. But if you have a stitch selector (ABCD), no you can’t do the Twice as Nice stitch. You have to be able to manipulate the upper and lower looper tension settings. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

@@marie-clairejean1899 hi Marie-Claire, because the Triumph doesn’t have tension adjustment capability in overlock mode, you can’t create the Twice as Nice stitch. But to show 2 colors on the top side of a project , use the wave stitch. The Twice as Nice stitch is done by manipulating the upper and lower tensions and the 9mm stitch width gives enough space for the 2 bands of color to be bold. Thanks for watching!
If you can adjust the looper tensions, you should be able to Do the Twice as Nice Stitch. Most Babylock sergers have a maximum stitch width of 7.5 with the left overlock needle inserted.
