Playback arcade is run and owned by enthusiastic long-term gamers and friends, Mark and Nick. They love retro games and want to share what they love with as many people as possible, and so have set all their games to freeplay, with just a one off admission fee.

Hey Sean - just to clarify, the pop’n stage on the floor is 99.9% not yours (I stole 1 panel from the stage!), but I DO have yours downstairs.
It requires a lot of work to fix up, and I’m using the one upstairs as a template to do so, but it’ll be a little while before it’s 100% again 😅

The entire top unit (marquee + lights) was destroyed when shipping from US to U.K.
Even before that though, it lived a hard life - was being taken on the con tours in the US, magfest and the like, and got pretty battered.
Off the top of my head - wiring is utterly trashed, pad hose is missing, someone painted the vast majority of the cab in black (badly), the bars were painted red (???), the front door was sawn through to make room for a bigger coin mech, parts of the pads are nonfunctional for a collection of reasons, pad connector metal is missing… there’s probably more issues…
What’s important though - the DJ MAIN and the core metal is good 😅
I’m sure I can repro and refurb everything else eventually

I'm planning to visit this place february 2024 to try Pop'n Stage, Dance 86.4, PPParadise and the other rhythm games.

That looks like the Galleries in Bristol town centre. I thought they were closing this place because of the Cabot Centre... I really like their museum. I saw a lot of things I have owned at one point or another, and some things I always coveted, but never got to have! Very surprising to see a place like that in Bristol. I hope for their sake that it is usually much busier!
Hey, I’m one of the contributors to the space (the rhythm games + Japanese machines are all mine!)
The previous owner lost access to the space and left us high and dry. Myself and the other cab owners decided to stick around and rebrand - so HOVG -> Playback.
We’ll be around for as long as the galleries stays open, and will hopefully move somewhere nearby after 💪
Plenty more machines coming in the future - hope to see you there!

Good to see you in Bristol, Dave here who does a little bit of work for them and Timewarp Arcade in Bridgwater (short trip from where you were) and Mark and Nick have done a good job of keeping the place going at Playback, pleased you came in. Good tour, still learning their machines myself, but what you didn't see is what is hidden for repair, plenty more games that you would have liked.
That's great! I didn't know Timewarp existed until I was leaving the area. I'll have to try and visit next time! Yeah, Nick said there was a bunch in repair. Would love to see them working one day, sounds like another trip in the making at some point! :) Thanks for the info!
