  • On 21st April, the global cancer community comes together to mark AML World Awareness Day.
Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a type of leukaemia and therefore a type of blood cancer.
Nearly 3,100 people are diagnosed with AML in the UK every year. That’s more than 8 people every day.
Survival rates from AML are one of the lowest for all cancers with only 13.6% survival after 5 years.
The signs and symptoms can be similar to those of common conditions so it’s hard to spot, but common symptoms can include:
    ● Fatigue
    ● Bruising or bleeding
    ● Repeated infections
It's important to know what's normal for you. If you or a loved one experience one or a combination of these it's always best to ask your GP for a blood test.
