I don’t know how to describe Andrė Leon Talley’s personality, but I do love the way he speaks. There’s something very decidedly fabulous about the way he carries himself, and to make it as far as he has in the fashion world is truly impressive.

Now that I'm a student at FIT, I find myself reading and learning more about the various areas of fashion and beauty industry. From wearing makeup for the first time two years ago to revamping my clothing. LOL I'm just so tickled about this new me that is coming about. It is wonderful to have experts in their career sharing their knowledge/ gift. Thank you #fashionculture

what's the difference between being a black designer and a designer? we have stop relinquishing what is "good" or "normal" as being white.
white designers design with white people in mind and they aren't faulted. they're celebrated.
people are going to purchase your products if they're good. true. but it's naive to say that the world of fashion isn't a race/class based industry. that is indeed the worst part about the industry.
when I purchased my first Tracy Reese I was thrilled to find out she is black. I don't have many garments from black designers. it's inspirational for me.

I am a middle eastern art director and stylist and have photographed many black models for my portfolio. I was told by some artist artistthat I should remove my black stories before I was rejected by them!
      I refuse to do that!
I need to interview these two ladies 😂

Saw this today. The exhibit was amazing. Very well done. The museum at FIT is a must for anyone even vaguely interested in fashion. I really enjoyed this interview. Three fashion powerhouses chatting.

The fashion industry is racist. One percent of black fashioners are not enough. I did not know that any black fashion designers are in the fashion industry. Why do you people ignore that you are black? Why you do feel that black people will not buy your products? Their are black people who would like to buy couture from black designers. I think you views are very narrow.

LOL So Tracy Reese says she LOVES colors and patterns ... and there she is - in a Boring black dress with black necklace. Seriously? And Mimi - girl you need to stop the use of the word "um". It makes you sound um ... Very ... um ... unintelligent ... UM

bob B Don't fault the women. Yes, a lot of designers (especially men) come out in black t shirt and jeans. Alber Elbaz once said something along the lines of he wouldn't be able to create such beautiful clothes if he focused so much attention on his appearance. She's here to provide a service and make others look good...she doesn't have to be the face, thats why we have models.

Perhaps you should look at Tracy Reese’s designs from her old line Plenty by Tracy Reese. It is VERY colorful and full of patterns. The way she described herself sounds perfectly in line with the designer I knew her to be when I worked in retail.
