I’ve never heard an American owner speak so well and so much sense about their football club. This guy is very well informed and knows his stuff. You can tell he actively follows his team and takes an interest in the sport outside of just pure financials.
The success early on by his other sports franchise Las Vegas Golden Knights early on and them just winning the Stanley cup, comes down to his strong leadership, willing to spend money, and willing to make tough decisions shows that he's involved but knows when to let other people run the show when need be. He took out a very popular coach and a winning one twice to finally win the Stanley Cup. He just wants to win
He knows his stuff? He's just appointed a guy he's never heard of. He's gonna get eaten alive by the PL, a completely different animal to American sport where you're rewarded for failure via the draft system.
He sounds like a tremendous owner. Very sensible, aware of his own shortcomings, he’s put a team of people together that can advise him properly, he recognises Bournemouths position in the league and clearly has a plan to move the club forward in a sustainable manner.
Thank you for having me on earlier. Was a pleasure to talk to Jim, Simon and Stuart. I initially was very much against the sacking of Gary O'Neil but it makes sense considering the man we have got in. Iraola is one of the highest rated managers in world football at the moment due to what he's done at Vallecano. I spoke to a number of Vallecano fans on my show and they can't speak highly enough of Iraola and his attacking style. The players we have bought in are ready for Iraola rather than Gary, they are better suited to the style.

Sensible stuff from Foley. Seems to be that he is keeping his ambitions very much in check, with a quiet confidence of steady improvement - respecting the quality of the Premier League, but also with a keenness to evolve things as organically as possible.
Some come Sam, unless we got Mike Bassett in, then what right does upstarts like us deserve to have a crack? I moved to Bournemouth in 2010, you wouldn't have known there was a football club in this town, you can't miss it now as there are people in Bournemouth shirts and merchandise everywhere. Build that 20,000 capacity stadium Mr Foley, but build it with one eye on being able to expand, with a local population of over half a million and no other league clubs nearby if you do succeed you'll need to expand.
Well Vegas has built an insane fanbase world wide already. They market their team so well and always invested in a fun team and atmosphere at their arena. You might see a bunch of American Bournemouth fans soon trust me.
Excellent interview and sound talking from a owner looking forward to see how far Bournemouth can go,Bournemouth fans a so lucky to have a new owner like this, wish he brought Portsmouth instead
I don't know when or how soon but your time will come trust me, before you know it Portsmouth (hopefully) will be back in the Premier League. If you'd have asked Bournemouth fans if we'd have an owner like this 10 years ago most people would have laughed and yet here we are. A lot can change in a few years, keep the faith.
And 5 months later Bill has delivered on his promises, new training ground being built, new stadium plans in place where he said it will be built and he has stuck with Andoni after no wins in the 1st 9 games… Up to 15th now and 10 points clear of relegation! Things are looking very sweet for our “Cherries”
Fair play to him. First time I heard about Gary being sacked I thought it was a shock. But fans always go on about the rest of the league being happy to just survive in The Premier League. Atleast this guy is showing some bottle and saying nah lets try to aim high. Sure it may not work but you gotta take a risk in life sometimes.

I mean, I’ve got to say, he came across really well in that interview (the first part at least). Whether or not I agree with ‘team first and people second’ but that’s their mentality at the club and that’s how they want to run things. Aside from that, that’s the most sense I’ve heard from an owner in a long time, especially from an American owner! It’ll be interesting to see what happens at Bournemouth. Part of me would be amused if they did get relegated, because it sounds like he thinks he can get Bournemouth to the very top, which really isn’t going to happen in Foley’s lifetime. With regards to the second part, he seems to think they’re going to sign massive names at the club, which I doubt. I liked the fact that even with that being said, he still tempered expectations by saying that if in a few years they’re finishing 7th or 8th that will be a success. Excellent stuff with regards to the infrastructure, expanding the stadium and the training facilities. My concern with US owners is that only a few more will mean they have a quorum to vote through changes within the league that can’t be vetoed because they’ll always have the votes, so hearing that he’s not interested in changing those things is great to hear (thankfully there’ll be one fewer if the Glazers finally f*ck off) All in all, this being the first time I’ve heard from him, this was a great interview and introduction to Foley and must be encouraging for all Bournemouth fans. Common sense seems to have prevailed. For now, at least. We’ll see how it goes over time.
Bill came across really well. Nice guy and has demonstrated respect and dignity with the Gary decision which most AFCB fans will agree with. The system does need to change and Gary isn’t the man to take us forward. A chairman with class and respect and one that is not afraid of making the right decision for the football club. Exciting times ahead .. up the 🍒
I am sure all of our supporters are forever grateful to Gary but sadly I don't think he would have taken us to the next step,as some of the results at the end of season showed. Its a brave move by Mr Foley but the correct one for the clubs future.
I think they will do well to finish any higher in the PL than they did this year. It will take the new manager a good few months to adapt to the league and precious points will be lost during this time. I wish them well but I still wonder if this is the best way forward for the club.
Wow! He just said the Nuggets (an NBA team from Denver) won the Stanley Cup (NHL). I think he means the Vegas Golden Knights. Wrong sport, wrong city/state...And he doesn't even own the Nuggets. That is just down right lazy. Step it up TalkSport.
I agree that most people fans etc, believe O'Neil did a great job,but the last few games ,i believe played a part in foleys ,doubt in O'Neil taking the club any further, but i am saying that he should have finished him at the end of season.May be waiting on a sealed contract with the new manager before showing O'Neil the door
Nuggets is a basketball team from Denver that's owned by the same guy as Arsenal (yes they won the chip this season). Bill owns the Vegas Golden Knights NHL team who won the Stanley Cup in there 6th year of existence.
This situation reminds me of west ham & david moyes where he saves them from relegation, they dont renew a deserved contract because they want to go forward with manuel pellegrini who wasted £200 million of the clubs money to get them in the relegation zone again. Then they ate humble pie & brought moyes back. Its a very "be careful what you wish for" situation but good luck to them this season.
Yes and no. Pellegrini had nothing to prove when he came to West Ham and was coming to the end of his career. Realistically there was no way he could ever have been as successful there as he was at Man City and overseas, so although the appointment showed ambition I think it was naive. With Iraola, I would imagine the motivation and enthusiasm to succeed will be way higher than with Pellegrini. Of course, it could still go wrong, but it feels like a much more considered risk.
I certainly respect his ambition. Hopefully for the fans, Iraola is the right guy to deliver on what the owner aspires to achieving and is given the necessary backing to realise it.
I respect the approach. If you look at the data, even great teams go down, like Leicester, Leeds etc. and the teams just trying to stay up eventually go down. Brighton decided to upgrade from Houghton and haven't looked back. I remember seeing them at Tottenham under him, and they sat back all game and conceded eventually. Then with ten minutes to go they had to try and attack and they almost scored three goals. Better to go for it in life and at least you try.

Bournemouth were favourites to go down yet Gary O'Neill worked a miracle. The odd's on a new man that has no experience of the PL doing better is an outsiders gamble. All future plans go out the window if your club get relegated.
GON did the job but it wasn't a miracle. From January, we had a mid table level squad, Bill alluded to it in the interview that he did expect us to finish a couple of places higher. We lost five of the last seven games with barely a shot on target/. We played dire football far too often.
@@itsdavew5766 You are talking as an excited fan and ignoring the rest. Virtually every pundit, bookie and analyst had Bournemouth nailed on to go down and some of your results were brilliant. The new owner is ambitious and saying the right things but it is a long shot gamble as dire football and survival wins over relegation.
@@williamrobinson4253 and do you think pundits really know the inner workings of clubs like Bournemouth?? I bet many didn't know half our players! We had a mid table level squad from January and should have finished mid table. We didn't. Yes, a few great results along the way but also some terrible performances. We, as fans, have not had entertaining football since the fourth Eddie Howe PL season. We'd rather go down playing great football than staying up being rancid.
O’Neil had zero identity in terms of how he wanted the team to play and his style. We already know exactly how our new manager wants to play before we’ve even kicked a ball. Entertaining attacking football is what we want to see!
Well done on explaining and all. But it’ll be amusing when Bournemouth inevitably get relegated and we will all look back at this insane coaching decision.
This guy hires and fires as the sun comes up. This new guy won’t last the season, if Foyle says its midnight and it’s dark outside don’t trust him check for your self.
Is the guy that sacked Scott Parker after 4 games in the Prem, after Parker got them promoted and they didn't let him recruit anyone decent? No surprise he's sacking ONeill now. They'll probably sack the new guy after a short while too
So while Gary was working minor miracles at the club, behind his back the owners were plotting to get rid of him. Who’d want to work for a complete helmet like this American? Too many of them over ‘ere!
That isn't what he said or what happened at all!! Iraola was on the radar before GON was appointed, just wasn't available at that time. Foley took over and then as the season progressed, it was obvious GON wasn't the man to take us forwards. Then Iraloa did become available and so we grabbed him. Foley is a fantastic owner.
not gonna lie, I had zero emotions about what Bournemouth do or don't do.. but now.. something inside me would mildly enjoy watching them get relegated lol ..
This owner is going to regret doing that with oniel. Maybe he thinks this coach that isnt a top coach anyway is the answer for Bournemouth to stay in the premier but lets see who this coach can attract. ?
Again this is why I back the players and say there’s absolutely 0 loyalty in football from ANY SIDES & clubs because they’re a business & have bitter little turkeys like Simon Jordon in the boardroom don’t seem to have to offer any sort of loyalty towards its players or managers. Literally seen players get discarded sent to train with the kids for nothing then u get Simon crying everyday because the players have taken power into their own hands and realised they have the power! Run down contacts & take ur fate into ur own hands and keep Simon crying
Ive heard more from Foley in 20 mins than I have from the Glazers in 20 years. An interesting time to be a Bournemouth fans for sure

Ice Hockey team THE NUGGETS hahaha what a joke.
The Nuggets, lol.
O’Neil had zero identity in terms of how he wanted the team to play and his style. We already know exactly how our new manager wants to play before we’ve even kicked a ball. Entertaining attacking football is what we want to see!
Pretty sure the Venkys said this when they took over Blacburn
New identity hope u don’t end up in the championship
Hope they go down
why?? Because we let a manager go that gave us far too much dire football?
You just proved my point
@@TribalThief how??
Well done on explaining and all. But it’ll be amusing when Bournemouth inevitably get relegated and we will all look back at this insane coaching decision.
If he does what he done in ice hockey he will win fa cup soon
This guy hires and fires as the sun comes up. This new guy won’t last the season, if Foyle says its midnight and it’s dark outside don’t trust him check for your self.
Is the guy that sacked Scott Parker after 4 games in the Prem, after Parker got them promoted and they didn't let him recruit anyone decent?
No surprise he's sacking ONeill now. They'll probably sack the new guy after a short while too
No no no that was Max Denim who was trying to sell the club after we were promoted back to the Prem and Parker got himself sacked by mouthing off
So he said exactly what I thought O'Neil is facking boring
That mild joy inside of you won’t happen for a long time then
lol
@AFCB_ARE_MASSIVE yea that's true.. still a season to go
Bournemouth will be the first casualty of the Premier League😅😅
Yawn
Your new identity will be the club that everyone wants to go down 👍
June 23 - “We needed a new identify”
December 23 - “We just need someone to keep us in the premier league” 🤣🤣🤣
This owner is going to regret doing that with oniel. Maybe he thinks this coach that isnt a top coach anyway is the answer for Bournemouth to stay in the premier but lets see who this coach can attract. ?
Agreed, a new identity beckons, Championship football beckons, American ownership of EPL clubs is a disaster, Psycho babble
American coaches. No clue over here there a championship side lol. Europe. Lol
Jim White, great host and Rangers to the core.
Bros wrote a full paragraph of nonsense
@@callumlomax456 if ur slow just say that 🤡
There's good American owners and then there's the glazier s , dog's
