I feel like having a teacher with a disability when you're as young as her kids is sooooo beneficial. When I started school my first teacher was disabled. She was born without a hand and I personally feel as though that experience early on in life is what made me so receptive of people with disabilities.. aside from the fact that one of my best friends growing up had a developmental disability I feel like that played a major role in my compassion and ability to understand those who we perceive to be different.

If half the kids in your class would freak out, that's a big problem. Kids should never fear disabled people and it is crucial, for both us disabled folks and those kids, that they understand that we're actually just people in bodies that work a little differently.
Maybe look at contacting disability orgs in your area about arranging to have a disabled person come and speak to your class? Kids need to know that we're not monsters and that becoming disabled isn't the end of the world.

Chronically Fabulous yes. We need to instill in them early that not everybody is the same. Some people have physical or mental limitations, but they are still human beings worthy of love, friendship, and respect. They still have feelings like everyone else. I have been teaching my daughter that from as early as I could. We were at the lake feeding ducks. A kiddo came up in a wheelchair and he didn’t have anything to feed them. She voluntarily went over and talked to him and asked if he wanted some food to give to the ducks. I was so proud of her. Every teacher she has had always tells me how kind she is. How she helps her classmates. It makes me happy to know that.

Molly McConnell I’m sure she’s a great teacher and I respect her but looking at from another perspective is most of the time having kids who are bigger than you make it hard to establish respect it even happens among high school seniors, as much as I wish it wasn’t true it’s just human nature to belittle things smaller than you. As well they mentioned she needed assistance dressing bathing etc when handling small children it makes parents as well myself in high school iffy about her looking over small children. Most of her job focuses on her education considering she struggles with other basic abilities :/ I hope she gets to continue teaching but the job can be brutal especially parents and accidents etc

This teacher is beautiful inside and out. When I watched her at the table talking to this little girl they were beautiful together. Tears filled my eyes. Teachers make children great. I was a special needs child for many years and my last year of high school I wanted to go main stream and be in regular math and reading classes social studies etc. I was on the honor roll all 4 quarters of my senior year and my records were not fudged all the tests were where you have to pencil in dots and a machine read everything. I had tons of encouragement from my teachers. I think this young woman is wonderful.

Her disability: You're disabled, and can't do anything..
Her parents: You're going to college!
Amazing parents!🥰🥰.. They believed in her!

If only all teachers were like her. She didnt just want to be a teacher, she IS a teacher. Her students will not forget her and hopefully they will become kind and thoughtful citizens in their adult lives.

This is 100% relatable. I’m a little person myself with a rare condition. (O.I. a brittle bone disease) and I’m extremely short. I’m glad I found someone similar to me, this is incredibly amazing to know I’m not alone.

this gave me a good cry. from seeing her struggle with things i take for granted, and then showing her feeling contempt with her job and being such a ray of light for the people around her. bless her soul

This is amazing. We can all learn something from her. If someone tells you you can’t do something then you show them you can. Never give up. I admire her strength. She is so beautiful and kind. This is a lovely story 💕

I love these videos when someone has a genuine condition and see’a the positives in life instead of documentaries on people destroying their bodies and badly changing how they look she is such an inspiration I love how she’s a teacher you can see how much she loves her job honestly I aspire to have her mindset 🙌🏽
