Jazza: the circle with the inverse thing will end up being the snow, and then this circle will be a tree and that one will be the eye, and then I’ll use the overlapping as a new circle, and then that circle will create a NEW circle, then, I will create the tail curving around the circle and then use the inverse circle thing again for the other thingy mabob and THEN, I’ll use a *DOUBLE WAMMY* to limit my circle in take and then add three more circle to the eyes and then I’ll use NEGATIVE space to make up for the circle and then half it and overlap again and-.....

I love how this almost feels like an advanced basics drawing video. Breaking things down into simple shapes to create art, yet still challenging enough that even someone advanced wouldn’t feel bored with it.
I'm assuming whoever edited this video had a lot of fun doing the intro and sound effects

In my comics class, I use this method to teach my detail-obsessed students to block out their entire pages rather than have them work painstakingly one panel at a time only to find the flow doesn't work 3/4 of the way down.
It's a hard lesson to learn!

Ellipse is a plane curve surrounding two focal points, such that for all points on the curve, the sum of the two distances to the focal points is a constant.
Basically, a circle is a special type of ellipse that has both focal points as one. Similar to how square is a special rectangle with all its sides equal.
If ellipses were circles under an angle they would still have one focal point but they have two.

they're just IMPERFECT circles.
Tbh, the Bob Ross painting looks like a great foundation to fundamentals.
Step 1a+b: draw everything out of circles and ellipses.
Step 2 a: from that reference, start drawing straight lines from connecting points to get new shapes.
Step 2 b: from that reference, start drawing squares within the circles.
Step 3 a+b: trace the solid lines so you can remove the construction lines, colour, then add line variation.
(Path A uses ancient Greek geometric mathematics for the nerdier of us while Path B is the more classic artist path)

No, because a 2d object on its side has no width, it wouldn’t show up as a line, if it had any width at all it would be a 3d object not 2d

Had an art teacher challenge the class with this. We were told to just start scribbling circles all over the paper, but not told why, so no one was particularly concerned with the size, shape, or placement of the circles. THEN he told us to find images in the mess and turn them into recognizable forms. GREAT challenge-came up with one of my best projects out of it.
