Was at his restaurant one night and they were preparing the final dessert. Someone came to our table and started making some crazy art masterpiece of a dessert right before us on our table. I looked up and realized it was Grant himself that was preparing our dessert. I’ll never forget it.
I’ve had really good food. Then I’ve had Michelin star, extremely good, memorable food. Then I’ve had world class food that changed what I thought was possible about food in some way. Then I’ve had Alinea. And it can’t really even be compared to any other food I’ve had in my entire life.
I always felt intimidated when I go to these high end restaurants, like feeling under dressed, or my posture is bad, or am I "civilized" enough for this? which is why I feel Grant is bringing something great to the table. As he said, we should feel relaxed, lay back and enjoy the experience!
volgg Last time I went to alinea I didn’t even take a suit. I wore dark jeans with some nice puffy jacket and didn’t feel out of place at all the entire time I was there
Default not quite but for that kind of money for a meal you should really just be able to sit back and enjoy yourself when you eat. Alinea has these huge puffy chairs and even puffier booth that you can just lean into and relax, forget about everything for a few hours and just enjoy the meal
Yes but that is a 20 course mind fooling adventure. You are not just eating top tasting food. They play mind tricks on you with the food. They'll give you strawberries and you swear they are strawberries. But when you eat them, they taste like something completely else.
+John Tan It's a combination of the viscosity and elasticity of the sauce playing with the texture of the mat. Took that info from the instagram of Dave Beran the exec chef of Next.
Interesting. Nowhere in the concept did he ever say, "We try to make good food." Maybe that is why he feels the restaurant is misunderstood. It endeavors to be progressive American. It strives to be emotional. Its ambition is not to be rigid. The goal is to laugh.....Even Ferran Adria said, " In our twenty course menu, every couple of of courses I like serve something like duck with marscapone and fennel. It reminds the customer that we are still chefs, even though we aim for innovation, we still want them to have something they can eat and enjoy, rather than sit and ponder."
@@AGH331 you have to scrape the food off the table to eat it... while paying +$300 per person... and you are supposed to go back to your childhood and relax?? yeah sure because an icecream/pizza and some swings cost too much... it's more than just pretentious...

Grant's mother: Don't play with your food.
Baby Grant: Hold my beer

Just go there, eat the food like you did on your couch, pay and leave

1:57 tbh love his stuff but i don't know about this one
plan on spending $400 to $500 per person if you pair the meal with wine. Dinner for two with tax and tip can cost upwards of $1,000.
pinkisntwell
That’s crazy.
But you’re in a 3 michellen star restaurant for four hours through 20 courses of course is expensive
That is very literally more money than I spend in a year on food.

F.Adriá would be proud of looking at his legacy being developed in so many ways
Fun, enjoy the ride
ok! I've followed these guys for ages. can anyone please tell me how do you get sauces which is dropped on a table and set into a square?

+NeoMooseBacon legend!
Это время пролетело быстрее, чем я учился на повара... Спасибо тебе!
Chef Grant, we have to meet.
Alinea is the pinnacle.
I love it
The picture of the dessert is very similar to what falls out of a ripped garbage bag on my kitchen floor
After watching him on Chefs Table, he couldn't do anything to make him more of a god.
One of the best American chief. Like eat their once.
Amazing!!
Brilliant
This guy is freaking cool..
I think it would be a lot of fun to work there.
They're fucking crazy there. Good Luck surviving.
@@josebustamante5059 that seem like a great craziness to me
If he wasn't a chef, he'd become a scientist. 😄

Or you can make/buy a really big plate.

david neville it's funny, he literally used "is it good?" As his main criteria as a judge on the final table
Takes notes Nakiri Alice.
He is so hot hahahahaa
Sad that a chef so talented as him got tongue cancer.
Can he beat bobby flay hahah??
What's the next new expeience? Preparing food directly in the mouths of guests then letting them know when to chew & swallow?
This dude is so high
Who the fuck wan'ts to eat an edible balloon?
Nakiri alice ........food wars
Ohhhh...so the point of the restaurant is to make people (rich people, of course) happy!
BrownEyedHighGirL it's to give you an experience. It's only around $300 a person, if you're truly passionate, you can easily save up to go
What exactly is wrong with that?!
now ppl will Understand the good Chefs :D gj
W.O.W
I am weardly attracted to him
Roman Reigns < that balloon
Seriously, who is interested in reading like animals, or cave men? And isn't inhaling helium actually not good for you!?!?! Weird stuff here!!!
make people pay $1000 to eat off the table...whats next? if you tip you can eat it off the floor?
It's one course. And you can expect the table to be thoroughly clean, essentially just a big plate. What's your complaint here?

My names not Theon it’s reek !
Stupidity with no boundaries
People will paying to eat food off of a table cloth? I find that repulsive and stupid. Why are these molecular gastronomists so full of themselves?
