- Last week, I asked my viewers what I should make for this week's cake, and the overwhelming response was a LAVA LAMP CAKE! I tried this once before several years ago, but it did not go as I had hoped. I'm up for the challenge of trying again, so let's see if I can actually pull it off this time 💚

OMG WHO’S WITH ME‼️you should make a loofa cake! So like a cake ball In the middle then adding some fun textures on the outside like a loofa then mix some egg whites to make bubbles and put it on the loofa and maybe hang it up on an edible hanger but it’s actually flat on the ground!!!🎉🎉🎉

No joke last week I was sitting at the kitchen counter and eating a snack, when I saw an onion next to the stove. I went and squeezed it to check if it was cake or not. When my mom asked me what I was doing, I casually said “making sure it’s not cake”. She was so confused!😂
The way she transitions to the ad for her shop right at the moments of suspense gets me everytime
As a lava lamp collector (approximately 60 give or take a couple different lamps, including a 3’ tall one, yes I’m proud of my collection, lol) I wholeheartedly approve of your cake, it’s fabulous!

i was literally so invested in this one. i was terrified about the gelatine part too so i cant imagine how terrified Natalie. but i am so glad it turned out well and it looks amazing!!!!!!
Cake idea- a cake of the knife that you use to cut the other cakes
I love that you persevered with this cake through thick and thin! It turned out looking extremely realistic. I would be glad to see you do an aquarium cake, since putting cake in water is a bad idea...

i'm glad the voice over on this video was talking in detail about the process of making it!! as much as i love your anecdotes and stories, i cant help but be curious about your creative thought process when i watch your cake vids
natalie you never fail to impress me, but this cake just absolutely blew me away!! i remember seeing the post about making this and thinking “genuinely how the heck is she gonna pull this one off?” but you did it!!! youre freaking amazing🎉🎉
I love how this cake turned out, and I love your videos! Just some helpful tips I wanted to pass on for mold making that I learned from making mask molds.
1. When making a mold of a large object with concave surfaces, it helps to poke or cut a hole in the part of the mold that might need depressurizing that way the air can escape and whatever liquid your pouring can fill the entire mold without air bubbles (Although in this case the air bubbles added to the look of the lava lamp material since that stuff cools and solidifies in really weird shapes anyway) Another way you can pour a piece like this is upside down, that way the air just escapes through the top of the mold while you pour
2. When making the mold box, if you follow the contours with the shape of the mold box, you can cut down on the amount of material that you need to pour to make the mold and make taller molds with this strategy
3. It’s best to try to save the mold box so you can put the mold back in it if you have to cut it apart to get the piece out, this will help keep the mold in one piece and you won’t end up having to cut off flashing from the part you made
I hope these tips help with the headaches of mold making, they can be a pain sometimes!

Honestly, I don’t like professional people at anything. I don’t like how you have to be perfect to impress them and how their always critical about everything. But not you, your not critical at all. It feels like your self taught, so it’s relaxing. Your always so kind and funny, and it’s mindblowing of all the work you do for your cakes. Also huge thanks to husband Dave for most of the editing in a lot of videos!!! It helps so much! ❤️❤️❤️

You're super inspirational. I loved how you say don't wait till youre perfect at something, just do what you love anyway. You are upfront and humble when things go wrong and you don't give up on a goal. I'm horrible on myself if I cant be perfect at things...it ruins my hobbies too. I just need to keep practicing and not give up!

That was an amazing cake, so very beautiful! I just have one question, do you add flavour to the gelatine when you use it in your cake? Not for small amounts of gelatine like an edible plastic wrap, I mean, but when you use a lot of it. It doesn't have a taste initially.

Can you make a Lemonade in glass cup cake? The glass can be made of a thick layer of jello and the lemonade has to be clear. Your challenge could be how to fit cake in! 🎂

This turned out great! I will say that the base and cap are matte, whereas the real thing tends to be metallic, and we didn’t see the attachment point for the cord or the plug. Otherwise, the gelatin mixture worked really well, and the whole thing looks like a lava lamp and stood perfectly! Great job! 😁

3:58 I think the way to fix this is to make a two part injection style mold like the one usually used for jewelry lost cast waxes. But this has already turned out great!
You should make some kind of food but it’s 2 halves, then stick them together. So you cut along the seam and it still looks like the real thing. You have to cut it twice to see that it’s a cake

I feel like a 3d Print cake could be really interesting, or like a record. Some sort of cake with a lot of delicate lines as a texture just sounds really satisfying
