UPDATE! Charlie Brown WON IT ALL last night at the 2024 Christmas Tree Drag Racing Championship!!! Final round 6.68 at 208MPH!!! Went 6.62 in an earlier round! Big congrats to Chuck!!! ruclips.net/video/x1W9g-bvW58/видео.htmlsi=J8kLlyHy8_YsHPPr&t=948
This may have been said 100 times already, I apologize if it has but I only read the first 15 or so comments but that 7.20 was ran with letting off at the 1/8, Tin Soldiers or top tier God's in the sport, not only are they some of the smartest in setting up cars and building cars but they build and sell the best parts, some extremely smart guys there, hats off to all of them,,,this is the first video I've seen of yours sir, nice, professional video, definitely going to watch more and subscribe
👍 Thanks! That Malibu is such a very sweet build indeed. Too many casual drag fans might believe it’s just about cubic inches and power adders, but it’s clear that you know better. Suspension, traction, building for consistent reliability, proper gearing, and so on are required to win events, like Charlie Brown did on the next night at the Christmas Tree Drags. You may have seen its 6.60 runs at well over 200MPH?
👍 That Malibu is such a very sweet build indeed! And beyond the cubic inches and NOS, these guys know what it takes to win: Suspension, traction, building for consistent reliability (ignition and fuel delivery), proper gearing, and so on. That’s how Charlie Brown won a tough even on the next night at the Christmas Tree Drags. You may have seen its multiple 6.60 runs at well over 200MPH?
Interesting thing was that they said it was the easiest car to drive. Just point and shoot. The NOS was triggered automatically. He doesn’t even bump the TH400 between gears, it shifts itself. All he had to do was work with a steering wheel and two pedals. Kinda like that blue car in the next lane? 🤔
Love the left behind run, Andrew! Great to see all those cubic inches with triple nitrous go against a daily driver Plaid. Not even close but I enjoyed it nonetheless. You’re a great sport my friend. Merry Christmas.
What?!? 195MPH in 2nd gear? On a TH400 trans and 28” tire with a 3.00 ring gear? That math ain’t mathin’, unless that motor turned over 10,000RPM (it doesn’t - the top speed they calculated is at below 8000RPM) 1st 2.48: 86MPH @7800RPM 2nd 1.48: 144MPH @7800RPM 3rd 1:00: 213MPH @7800RPM (Yes, we know the exact gearing as we talked to the crew at length about it, they swapped it out specifically for this event)
good stuff. they need to have an electric category. it's just not the same man. nothing against teslas or anything electric. fast, reliable and can do it over and over again. that's awesome. but it takes skill and knowledge about your car to drive stuff that fast and not destroy your ride. in these you simply hit the gas and go. electric just dilutes the fun. but i can't knock anything, if it makes you the driver happy that's all that matters. some people never experience that. stay safe man!
Totally get the sentiment. It's a different beast for sure. We built Camaros (69, 74, 78) and Mustangs for years. Our last was a foxbody 5.0L LX 5-Speed on nitrous. A handful to drive. We wouldn’t trade those years for anything. Older now, backaches flare up when leaning into an engine bay for hours. So we like the newfound reliability: almost 2000 passes in our 2 Teslas (low 9s and mid 10s) without an issue! 😃
@ that's awesome man. glad you got to experience all the good stuff as well. but yeah from that perspective backaches alone, i could understand wanting to test the electric route. but 2000 passes without an issue is insane! glad your having fun man thats what its all about. good luck out there!

Just a humble suggestion. Been watching you since the beginning and I feel like your clips in the "Up next on the Tesla Plaid Channel" show too much. I've seen so many races that I can tell who is going to be the winner in each race before even watching the video. Maybe shorten them? I usually skip over them so I don't get spoiled but today I used the TV where the controls weren't as easy and I had to close my eyes. 🤣 LOVE the channel as always!
Is that Malibu really just running a naturally aspirated old school big block with some spray? That's enough to run in the 6s? No turbos, no supercharger?
@ probably but it was pretty obvious in the video his car stalled out after getting that big jump. It’s not like you really ran him down for a win. I’m not saying you couldn’t just the video shows what happened not a supposedly happened.
@@tommycollier9172 👍 Kinda, although technically Thursday😉 Interestingly, Charlie Brown’s crew proudly boasted about how that car is super easy to drive. No driver inputs required other than two pedals and steering wheel. Strangely similar to my blue car? 🤔

Fastnimport reliability relies more heavily on the knowledge and ability of the builder, than on a larger engine domestic drag car. It is a smaller engine, so requires more fitness, and leaves less room for error. My builder out of concord had many extremely reliable hondas built out of his shop. (Mine included). Rlz engineering made many a bulletproof 8 second honda car. While my car was only a 10 second car. It was a street car with a mild 1.6 liter engine, and it was bullet proof, on a budget
The point remains: This FOUR-door FAMILY sedan gaps 99% of the street cars at the dragstrip. Tuned Demons, modded Hellcats, Camaros, and Mustangs. Today’s young generation doesn’t even wrench of them themselves anymore, they take them to tuners. Bought vs bought. And most of those believe they are the fastest in town, only to get gapped wildly by a stock Tesla 😃 But we are sporting, so we give them the hit and generally only race trailered cars instead. Yet why is that? To beat a showroom Tesla, it’s usually got to come in on a trailer? 🤔
