    Tip, check to see if you can get the fill plug loose first before the drain plug.

      This is a great tip and should be followed when changing any fluids.

    Always, always remove the fill plug before removing the drain plug. If you remove the drain plug first and for some reason can't remove the fill plug you are screwed! Other than that great video and very informative! Thanks!

    not to be over paranoid, I like to use wooden blocks for the jack stand, I never had a wooden block fail... jack stands I've seen fail. Great video!

    Pretty good but you did miss the most important part of the hub service, the spindle washers inside the hub need to be changed annually if you use the vehicle regularly, otherwise they can weaken and break causing the wheel to literally fall out of the hub, also you will not find required fluids in the regular TM 280 series, you will need the LO (Lubrication Order) for that.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! You are correct this video just focus on changing the oil it is very important to check the spindle nut on a regular maintenance.

    TM means technical manual so you don't need to say TM manual :)

    How do you know when the fluid needs replaced or is there a general every so many miles thing ?
    Edit: that Teflon gasket around the top of the fill plug can be found at any hardware store and I also use them as wipes for my suppressors. I would double whammy that thing tape plus Teflon washer.

    • @kookertech
      @kookertech  Год назад +1

      I will check in the TM for this information on when to change and check the gear oil. I do know they want you to do a full hub inspection each time you open up the hubs.
      Your are correct the extra teflon tape around the fill wouldn't hurt. I was just following the TM as much as possible.

    Are you in the middle of projects? It appears that you are missing your shock absorber inside of a new coil spring.🍻🇺🇸

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes. I’m actually working on a lower shock mount design so you can easy build you own custom shock mount for custom shocks. More pics of that on my Instagram or Facebook page.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! There are a few different ways to get your hands on a HMMWV one is Gov Planet the other would be classifieds such Facebook Market place, Craigslist etc… If you would like I can a a video on how I bought my HMMWV.

    I think you definitely over torqued them. I wouldn't go ham with the impact as much.

      Thank you for watching. It’s possible but these lug nuts are locking. Unlike regular lug nuts where you can spin them off by hand once you break them lose.
