    Outstanding analysis, Mike.
This man should have just ignored the situation, especially with his kids there.
The kids could have been assaulted, especially if they had run to their father as he was being attacked.

Your perfect words "the judge is not here to protect you, the police is not there to protect you, your phone is not protecting you", can be used as a resume for the entire situation... With his kids involved this episode could have been a tragedy: no mindset, no pre-emption and pre-emptive actions, and no idea how to manage multiple attackers. As you said Michiel for Holland, but I think it's a problem for the people of the most european countries (I'm from Italy) think that laws and justice are on an higher level, instead of self protection: this is a bad key point that could make grow criminals. Thanks a lot for your work 🙏

In my opinion, the most important lesson of this film is that it is completely useless to criticize anti-social people! If they had a conscience, or if they were sensible, they wouldn't even use the bike path by car! The fact that they do says it all! Criticism is completely pointless! These guys don't have a guilty conscience, they will definitely do it again and any criticism only triggers anger in the asocial - nothing more! If the man had simply ignored this wrongdoing (because he can't do anything about it anyway!) he and his children would have been spared the rest! The best fight is the one that doesn't have to be fought! Such anti-social behavior is a matter for the police and politicians, but not for a father who has two children to protect! Conclusion: Always ignore something like that as long as nobody gets hurt and if you take photos, you should do everything you can to do it secretly so that the perpetrators don't notice!

I think you’re comments are correct. If you want to confront someone’s rudeness, behaviour etc you have to think how far do I want this to go. Best bet is to take a breath and let it go. Situations can suddenly spiral out of control over the most silly events.

Great break down, Michiel. I would just like to add, that as a father of young kids myself, it can be a very difficult decision (especially in the heat of the moment) as to how you should react to situations when your kids are with you versus when they are not. As you mentioned, the kids can be traumatized by seeing their father get in a fight and get hurt, or worse. They can also be traumatized by seeing their father getting bullied and not standing up for himself - not to mention, if those were in fact his kids, he did not do a good job of protecting them from potential physical harm. All in all, he was extremely lucky, but again, a very difficult situation for a father to be in. As you said, perhaps in this case, it would have been best to not make any gestures or take videos.
I would love to see more of your breakdowns of other real life situations. Thank you!

A very dangerous situation for the man! The main problem of 95% of modern western men is that they don't have a protector mentality anymore, most of them can't protect themselves nor their wives or children! A very sad development! In this situation, an all-out attack on the aggressors would have been justified! With a solid defense training ala Urban Combatives plus the right mental attitude and maybe a stick, umbrella or a similar object to be able to carry out stabs, the man could certainly have defended himself more effectively! A well-trained protection dog ala Malinois, Hollandse Herder, German Shepherd, Rottweiler or Giant Schnauzer would also be an excellent choice in such a situation to keep the aggressors at bay! Greetings from Austria where most men are also weak and cowardly, but not all ;-)!

You know me as a assertive sometimes even aggresive (if needed) individual but so many times when i’m with my daughters i have to bite my tongue to not interact for the sake of my daughters well being. So many honourless ego driven men around these days who attack in groups or armed only for the sake of their fucking ego’s. Totally agree on the backing up part. The father was right but it would’ve been better to not have instigated with his two kids around. His awereness was totally absent tho. Great video as always.🙏❤️

For anybody out there thinking 'I would take them down, no trouble!' Its easy when you are watching as an outsider, for example around 8mins 30secs into the video my first instinct was to give a reverse headbutt to the guy behind him but if someone is also infront of you, its hard to overide what your eyes see if you are panicking. I did judo and kick boxing around 20 years ago, Im nearly 51 now. My own personal thing is sometimes it depends on your mood at the time. i.e. me walking my dog at 6 in the morning in winter and tired is different from me walking home from the gym, fully pumped on a summers evening, so for me how I defend myself sometimes depends on my mood and hopefully the adrenaline kicks in. Situational awareness and trying not to panic is probably a good start. Great breakdown and tips as always.😊👍

As a father myself, I think that every father on earth should ask themselves "Should I ever instigate, or initiate a fight, ever again?" And generally speaking I think the logical conclusion will follow that, no we shouldn't.
Now, I'm not saying we can't defend ourselves when necessary or strike someone when they're being threatening, etc. (In fact I think crashing in or palm striking with a Stop Hit would have been perfect here, or at least getting his hands up and moving off the center line to flank the guy running at him).
But we should be careful not to be assertive in a way that causes us to become a target (like the father in this video did by opening his arms at the vehicle driving by).
I'm not saying he was in the wrong here either, I'm just saying that if he hadn't raised his arms out wide at the vehicle driving by (which seemed to provoke the two men and make them angry enough to get out of the vehicle)... the whole situation could likely have been avoided in the first place.

Very good breakdown , thanks. One can criticize someone for not defending and not being prepared , but area , upbringing and social views may also shape response.
Perhaps he realised from the word go that he is not equipped to deal with two, and being passive may limit damage to him , and thus his kids too.
He could come from a household which naievely does not condone violence for defence, perhaps grew up and live in an area where the rule of law used to be the standard and no need was ever for protecting one's self.
I think many Western Europeans are not equipped mentally to deal with the growing violence due to fast growing social changes, as is obvious in this scenario. I do not live in Europe , but have relatives in Germany and Netherlands. They are totally oblivious and unbelieving in the dangerous society in which i live in Africa, and will bererate me for training to be very ready and prepared to use violence if so required. They feel that the police , the government , the law and all else should protect them /me , and that the violence meted out is not the fault of the perpetrators. This new age woke B.S which does not work when one is attacked.

The smaller guy ultimately was calming down the taller friend. Would really like to know what the father was saying. Keeping in mind he knew his small children were there, you didn't bring that into the conversation, but if you take both men down - the kids are safe! Main thing I took from this video is if you are knocked down - get the eff up IMMEDIATELY that big fella was getting ready to kick dad in the head!

Man, I wish you taught in Australia! The only thing close to this style of self defence is Krav maga! Love the no Bullsh!t approach & mindset which eliminates the restriction limiter!
Activate the hate & boom…good people doing bad things to bad people! 👍🙏🇦🇺✊

When the guys first run towards him aggressively does this justify immediate clinical take-down or should he have tried to de-escalate first?

Just you a lot of other good defense trainer's have said when with family be very careful don't start and thing he should have just tried to remember the lic plate # and let it go because the pilot won't do anything anyway for something like what happen only respond if they come to you first.other wise just let it go and have a good time with your kids and make it home safe.

This is true: we already have enough weak men in europe who are cowards. We need more good, trained and prepared men.

Of course it’s more of the Novo European. As their population increases they have zero deterrent, they will become more and more aggressive.

In my country the guys coming out of the car would spray you with pepper spray and then hit you with a hammer or knife. I know a little bit how to fight. I am always armed. But,If you start something like this you had better be prepared to go to the hospital or jail or both.
