12:46, that’s because the movie itself doesn’t assign a specific age to those characters. They’re looking at material the studio created later and retroactively using it as the basis to criticize the film itself
Very recently, as in still happening in the middle east. Ayatollah Khomeini's (Iranian religious leader) wife was 13. Abdullah Gül (president of Turkey) his wife was 15. Hassan Rouhani, (current president of Iran) his wife was 14 and so on. Hell the Catholic Church had the age of consent as 12 until 1971!
Both vids are good, but I'd give the edge to Honest Trailers this time because I appreciate the extra effort they put in by writing/performing parody songs.

8:39, That would be true for some older stuff like Sleeping Beauty where she’s explicitly stated to be cursed after just turning sixteen but the Aladdin movie never specified their ages regardless of what expanded material says
In some middle east culture especially the remote villages they can marry a 12 year old, been doing it for centuries. Most reason is to have family allegiance, another reason is that marriage is just a formality so the child can live with a better off family.
When my family went to Disney World in the early 90's, we went on a visitor's tour of the animation department. The layout was interesting - the artists rooms were surrounded by glass so the visitors could watch them work. This crew was working on Aladdin and it was fun to later watch the movie in a theater and recall the images from the tour. Aladdin is our favorite Disney movie and we still "Group Hug!" when we're all together. 👩🏫👨👩👦👦
13:55, the ages of Aladdin and Jasmine weren’t things they “chose to put in there” they were things later material retroactively claimed. Jafar being an old man who wants to marry a young princess despite their vast age difference is in there but it’s used to show what a creep he is.
People really need to get over that that "If she's a *day* under eighteen, it's creepy for anyone to be romancing her" thing. I mean, even aside from this taking place in a different culture and time where people never so much as raised an eyebrow at guys marrying girls half their age, Aladdin's roughly the equivalent of a high school senior while Jasmine's the equivalent of a high school sophomore. So what's "creepy" about a couple of high school kids dating? Granted, the more middle-aged villain (don't know where you're getting your estimate of Jafar's age; he doesn't even look like he's hit forty yet to me) looking to force the girl to marry him is rather creepy, but (A) he's the villain, so *of course* he's creepy; and (B) his interest appears to be purely political, i.e. "She WILL marry me so that I WILL be Sultan!" It's not clear that he was even interested in having an actual wedding night with her; probably thinking more of shoving her into a harem and forgetting about her the moment he's crowned, and maybe even disposing of her once she's outlived her usefulness.
to be honest they dont really look like kids to me .. if they r really kids or in high school it would be creepy & wrong because they should focus in study & they r totally not ready for dating stuff .. but calling 16-18 still kids ? then thats the real creepy lol .. they not kids and they r not even in high school .. he is a street rate & she is princess they r not students so it looks ok for me in that culture & we never felt any creep that time when we watch it at childhood before the mind bios .. but mind bios makes people feel that way when they grow up its just a mind trick :)
@@hamodhossain4261 Since you don't seem incredibly familiar with my American dialect of English, allow me to explain: here in America, "kid" is a term that can refer to anyone who's young and inexperienced (e.g. in the original Star Wars trilogy, Han Solo keeps calling Luke Skywalker a "kid" even though Luke is already 20 years old in the first movie). Also, when speaking of children and young adults, we tend to stratify their ages according to what kind of schools youngsters those ages typically attend here in America whether the actual youngsters being discussed are from our culture or not. Hence, it's quite common to hear people refer to college students (typically 18-22 years old) as "college kids" even though at that age, it is considered both legally and socially acceptable for them to be getting married and starting families. Being from the vaguely Arabic and Medieval-looking fictional nation of Agrabah, Aladdin and Jasmine obviously aren't attending our schools, but-since he's just recently turned 18 and she's almost 16-if they were, they would both be going to high school. That's why I refer to them as high school kids; and while most people here in America would consider it extremely unusual for high school students to be getting married before they've even graduated, most parents and teachers are fine with allowing them to go on dates with each other during their free time (as long as it doesn't detract too much from their academic performance). Also, since Aladdin and Jasmine are *not* from our culture and time, most Americans are pretty understanding of why it's legally and socially acceptable for them to be getting married in Agrabah, even though most of us certainly wouldn't allow our own sons and daughters to get married so young.
This is pretty much the best one Honest Trailers ever made imho, so they deserve the win this time around. Glad you also added Ryan's short scetch, btw ;)
This absolute PEAK Honest Trailers. Between this and Lion King, they should have stuck to reviewing movies people thought they loved until someone broke it down for being actually insane.

ONE thing the live action Aladdin did that I liked was when Aladdin tricked Jafar to becoming a Genie, he didn't say the word Genie because that would obviously come with restrictions.
That's exactly why that scene was garbage nonsense though. He never wished to be a genie at all but he was restricted to the lamp anyway. Why? He wasn't a genie.
The reason Producer Guy said he thought it was Scottish and was waiting for an addition to the title like "in the city" is because he thought Aladdin was "A lad in". Lad is a British slang for boy.
If she was about to celebrate her 16th soon that would make her legal here in the uk. Plus if your basing movies in certain era's you have to accept things were different.
"But you're so OLD!" A little bit of trivia... Sweet sixteens and quinceneras were a way of presenting the daughter as now eligible for marriage. And it is younger in some older cultures... But in this movie, especially since it is not real, we don't really think about her age. Most of the other Disney princesses were about the same age, except Snow White, who was 13 when the story started, and Pocahontas, who was only 11 when the English arrived (presumably with John Smith too). Tradition states that should the sultan's princess not marry, then his line of ruling must end. A male by marriage or birth will sufficce to continue the line. Although the singing was pretty good in HT; I even wondered if they had gotten the voice actors from the original to sing these lines!! Yoouo have to realise that for most of human history, arranged marriages like this were the norm and in many places they very much still are. Here in the west it only changed for the last one hundred years or so.
The 15 years old being a problem is a new world 20th century and up sort of issue. Even in Pride and Prejudice early 19th century, a 15 years old character marries an old dude. Now you'll say: but this is fiction, right? Well no, it was the norm back then, and the tale of Alladin is much older, plus, it's a cartoon!!! (up until recently, at least...)
I was going to comment while they were saying the song about there age when the song about the, uhh, "porking", but it look like they beat themselves to it
Pitch Meeting great, I like how Aladdin could have given Jasmine the lamp to free Genie, among other gems. But I have to give it to Honest Trailers, they brought it, and wowed with the songs. Aladdin was good, it was always one of my favorite stories and the movie didn't disappoint. There are problems if you think about it, (Genie created life?) but that's a part of fairly tales anyway. There will never be another genie like Robin's genie because it was Robin cutting loose with imagining himself as magical being. There may be an equally great one, but Robin's genie is one of kind like him. The underage issue. I remember reading the original ages of Disney's princesses and one was as low as 14, Elsa is the oldest at 21. Disney's "14" yr old Snow White creeped me out. She looked like a child, not a teen. When you're a child you recognize other children, even when drawn. It was creepy later when reading a book on the movie I saw a girl who was connected to the studio and a favorite of the big guy himself; she looks like the character. There are a few clips here on RUclips, a forest scene and a singing scene right after. In all the stories from the original tales her lips are naturally blood red so it's not supposed to be makeup. Compared to the queen her height is that of a girl. If you really want to see what was on their minds making these movies watch the Skumps song scene in Sleeping Beauty. Notice her father's, who has not seen his only child since she was a baby, reaction to the prince's father and his plans. Went over my head as child, as an adult I wanted to whack him biggest goblet there. It's here on RUclips.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment That's a tough question. He's mercurial and could easily morph into whatever strange and funny madness they had in mind; he's capable of ad libbing too. Eddie Murphy though is my first pick, it would have meant no Mu-shu for him, but I think that character is a glimpse of what his genie would be like, only with real power. An ad libbing master too, he did for Mu-shu what Robin did for Genie. I think it would have been as good as Robin's work.
4:26, see, that kind of comment is where things like Honest Trailers and CinemaSins and Pitch Meeting and How it Should Have Ended and The Nostalgia Critic completely miss the point. Going back to the work of the Russian folklorist Vladimir Propp, there are several criteria that must be met for a story even to be considered a fairy tale and that right off the bat makes quite a lot of these stories quite similar. And Joseph Campbell called all epic hero stories different versions of the monomyth (one story) for a reason. I know it’s meant as humour rather than as a serious critique but I’m not a fan of “This movie had X, that other movie had X, and that’s a sin”.
This is my favorite Disney movie of all time - last movie I watched with my dad. This movie can do no wrong... until the live action - poor Will. He had massive shoes to fill and while amazing in his own right, is no Robin Williams. On the video though, Honest Trailers was absolutely hilarious with their musical ensembles LOL. Can't kill but can create sentient life to sing for you is super easy, barely an inconvenience lol
One thing that always bothered me. Genie didn't actually make Aladdin a prince. What was he prince of? You have to be prince of somewhere to be a prince. He was just a guy with fancy clothes and an entourage.
Aladdin didn’t wish to be a legitimate prince so he ended up a fraudulent prince. When Jafar wished he were a sorcerer, he specified being a “powerful” sorcerer
A lot of things I watched or listened to as a kid has me thinking as an adult. Like Do me by Bel Biv Devoe. The line that says. Backstage, underage, adolescent How ya doin', fine, she replied I sighed, I like to do the wild thing Action took place Kinda wet, don't forget The J, the I, the M, the M, the Y, why'all I need a body bag. Sounds a little statutory to me.
I think I would have preferred a live-action reboot with these two! "What's your next wish going to be, a bag of roofies?" The song parodies in HT are nail-on-the-head perfect! This one has to be a three-way tie. And I agree that the live-action remakes just don't capture the magic of the animated versions.
I think people are readings into things that, A) don’t exist b) need context ans c) were in the original story. So I don’t have a problem with any of it.
I was so confused at the beginning of this video 😅, cause believe it or not, I've never seen Ryan George's Aladdin parody video, and I was like: "🤔Hmmm... I don't remember this from the Pitch Meeting Aladdin episode..." 😆 It was so funny, just like both the Honest Trailers and the Pitch Meeting videos 😂, I like them both, don't think I can choose between them. About the movie Mike, it was never one of my favorites for some reason, I've probably watched it on the VHS I've had of it only once or twice, don't really know why, cause the last time I've watched it, it was probably almost 20 years ago, and as a little kid, I didn't know how to explain why I liked or didn't liked something, I just did or didn't, maybe I should re-watch it now and see what I think of it.
Both videos are great. By the way the closest translation to the word genie is demon so when they made Will Smith Genie attracted to a human woman they made him into an incubus lol
I always wonder if this movie would existed or be as loved if Robin Williams didn't accept the role of the genie consider they only wanted him as the genie?
That's a good question. I don't think it would be top tier Disney animation without him really. I always try to think of who else could have done the role close to what he brought and the only name I can think of would be Jim Carrey, but this was released 2 years before he started to shine.
14:13, it’s an excellent film and I love almost everything about it. I’m not a fan of the Sultan being able to alter the law just like that at the end and I think that’s just a tacked on plot convenience but the rest of the movie is great.
Aladdin was my favorite and is my favorite Disney film. It just was a fun movie. I didn't think about the films elements. I owned every video game super nintendo and sega versions. I agree that you can't replace Robin Williams. He was just on his own level that sadly might have been part of his pain driving his suicide. I am an artist which suffers from depression which knowing what I know does bring some pain when watching his roles. The musical score to the pacing to just everything made a live action film just way to hard to film. Also, the live action suffers from modern day thought processes about it. I already had crushes on Chaldean and Arab girls as a young boy, but after it pretty much set the fact I wanted someone with black hair and brown eyes. I think they both did great, but honest trailers just pulls the win for me. The statement about the video game. The musical numbers are fun. It wins hands down to me, but I still enjoyed pitch meeting. Ryan George is great with line delivery. I want to say I really enjoyed your reaction. You remind me of an old friend who I grew up with.
Let's not forget, with a lot of these Disney movies, people insert facts from the original story that Disney never included, or changed for the movie. Like, Jasmine and Aladdin's ages were never stated. Those people did the same with Pocahontas, who clearly was _not_ an 11 or 12 year old girl in the movie. As for the live action Aladdin, that was a hot mess, except for Will Smith's bits. He wasn't as good as Robin Williams (but then, who could be?), but he gave it his best shot, and had some genuinely funny moments. As for the guy who played Aladdin, he was clearly hired for his dancing ability, not his acting ability.
What would your 3 wishes be? Mine; Wish 1: I wish that all wishes i make dont have negative outcomes Wish 2: I wish for a fully functioning omnitrix from ben10 that has every alien from the show (even ones we didnt see) unlocked with master control that only works for me and that when i turn into Alien X i get full control over his full omnipotent powers and it also has the powers of the fusion Omnitrix from Ben10K if i want and the power of the ultimatrix with none of the side effects Wish 3: free the genie cause it’s nice and now that i have alien x and Grey Matter and Brain Storm and Diamond Head im good
Yeah they need to just stop with the live action Disney remakes. I didn't watch this one, but after watching Lion King live action, I was like yeah, done with these. They also ruined Mulan, which was my all time favorite Disney animation. Actually Cruella (though technically not a remake) was really EXCELLENT in my opinion. Probably the best live action Disney classic-based film they've done so far.
15 wasn't that weird to me. Considering it was the ancient middle east they could have been a lot weirder and went younger. Fun fact: the age of consent in most US states isn't 18. Its 15-17. Prople just think it's 18 all across the US because Hollywood doesn't care enough to check local laws.
I gotta disagree. The remake of A lml Aladdin is better than the remake of the Lion King. They changed some elements in it though that frustrated me...but the point is it was better than the LK remake.
18 Year old guy and a 16 year old girl might be creepy in the us and Europe but it's perfectly fine in middle Eastern countries Not Jafar though That's creepy in every country
3:11, funny but not a legitimate critique of the movie. (His lies get him distrusted by the Genie, incur Jasmine’s disapproval when they’re revealed and results in him being disgraced, humiliated and banished to a frozen wasteland and left for dead with him acknowledging that the situation is his own fault. He reaps his reward by actively seeking to fix his mistakes.)
Interesting to hear you aren’t a fan of the Aladdin remake. Personally, I prefer it over the original. Meanwhile the lion king remake is so bad it feels disrespectful to the original and makes me want to go back and watch The Lion King 1/2.

Jim was my one and only thought. He's really the only one that could come close to Williams, but Eddie would also be a really good pick.
What I love most about the Honest Trailer is that I really did get up to pee during that song as a kid.
LOL!!!
7:28, where does the movie say that?
That was it, lol
Aladdin didn’t wish to be a legitimate prince so he ended up a fraudulent prince. When Jafar wished he were a sorcerer, he specified being a “powerful” sorcerer
Ayyy lets get it something to watch today 😊
🤣🤣🤣 was she really 15? Good lord my favorite movie is a wake up call!!
7:32, again. Where does the movie say that?
I like how you react to vids i like your laugh lol
Thanks for watching!
A lot of things I watched or listened to as a kid has me thinking as an adult. Like Do me by Bel Biv Devoe. The line that says. Backstage, underage, adolescent
How ya doin', fine, she replied
I sighed, I like to do the wild thing
Action took place
Kinda wet, don't forget
The J, the I, the M, the M, the Y, why'all
I need a body bag. Sounds a little statutory to me.
😲😯😬
Wow
Juliet was almost 14 and Romeo was 17. 😜
YEA! You DEFEATED the Algorithm!!!!
Mike WINS!
Flawless Victory!
LOL
😆🤣
It's not racist, it's accurate historically
Check out Warp Zone - Disney vs Netflix, as I always try to comment, I love your reactions!
I think I would have preferred a live-action reboot with these two! "What's your next wish going to be, a bag of roofies?" The song parodies in HT are nail-on-the-head perfect! This one has to be a three-way tie. And I agree that the live-action remakes just don't capture the magic of the animated versions.
Aladdin's father was known to be the King of Thieves so in a way, the genie really did follow through on the first wish.
Robin Williams... missed him so much.
R Kelly type stuff. 😂🤣😹
9:20, Because Iago isn’t as expendable to Jafar as Aladdin is.
Snow White was 14
10:55, because Jafar is not a prince and thus not a legitimate heir to the throne
14:13, it’s an excellent film and I love almost everything about it. I’m not a fan of the Sultan being able to alter the law just like that at the end and I think that’s just a tacked on plot convenience but the rest of the movie is great.
I feel like both of these videos have aged very well! Some of honest trailers more creative endeavors 😊
Yeah! I was surprised by how fresh they felt. They were great!!
Love your videos brother :)
Thanks a lot!
flash pitch meeting!!!!
Yeah, I still haven't completely watched the live-action movie. Similar to The Lion King, but for different reasons I guess.
10:58, it could be Star Wars rules where mind control only works on the weak-minded.
What would your 3 wishes be?
Mine;
Wish 1: I wish that all wishes i make dont have negative outcomes
Wish 2: I wish for a fully functioning omnitrix from ben10 that has every alien from the show (even ones we didnt see) unlocked with master control that only works for me and that when i turn into Alien X i get full control over his full omnipotent powers and it also has the powers of the fusion Omnitrix from Ben10K if i want and the power of the ultimatrix with none of the side effects
Wish 3: free the genie cause it’s nice and now that i have alien x and Grey Matter and Brain Storm and Diamond Head im good
Yeah they need to just stop with the live action Disney remakes.
Seeing Ryan talk to another Person feels weird
😂🤣
You should react to Toy Story Pitchmeeting
15 wasn't that weird to me. Considering it was the ancient middle east they could have been a lot weirder and went younger.
Fun fact: the age of consent in most US states isn't 18. Its 15-17. Prople just think it's 18 all across the US because Hollywood doesn't care enough to check local laws.
I knew it was 17 in a lot of states, but I didn't think it went younger than that.
😂
The pork song 🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣😂🤣
It's not a Middle-Eastern fairy tale, it's a story about a Chinese boy written by a Frenchman.
I gotta disagree. The remake of A lml Aladdin is better than the remake of the Lion King. They changed some elements in it though that frustrated me...but the point is it was better than the LK remake.
Its a frikking Disney movie
Thank You
Feed me or I will disturb the peace.
So... telling her to keep her eyes OPEN is creepy
Apparantly, lol
I beat that damn level on SNES! lol
LOL!!!!!
where is my brandon rogers videos
18 Year old guy and a 16 year old girl might be creepy in the us and Europe
but it's perfectly fine in middle Eastern countries
Not Jafar though
That's creepy in every country
😂🤣😂🤣
Not all that creepy, its like a senior in high school dating a sophomore.
Scottish if you read it as "A lad in..." Producer Guy is pretty corny sometimes.
I miss Robin Williams.
More like jafaR kelly... eh?
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Jasmine was 15 a couple decades ago. So all good now, besides she is the right age to have a 15 year old daughter! oops
To be fair, 15 back then is like 25 now.
You make a good point
I kinda think that Jim Carrey could’ve played genie in the live actuon
Don't you dare stop making content
Whats up?
Yo!!
Ah… back when there were still women in the Ryanverse. 😂
Interesting to hear you aren’t a fan of the Aladdin remake. Personally, I prefer it over the original. Meanwhile the lion king remake is so bad it feels disrespectful to the original and makes me want to go back and watch The Lion King 1/2.
A Lad in the city dumbest dad joke ever.
