The Canadiens logo is hockey. That logo can never change. It’s simple but excellent. It’s an A. The Bruins and Rangers are both C’s. Nothing special. They do realize they teamed is named after the 86th infantry division nicknamed the blackhawks that fought in World War One. That unit was named after a Native American chief named black hawk, who was the leader of the Sauk tribe who inhabited much of Central America in the 1800s including Illinois where the team plays. The team name nor the logo are offensive in any way and are meant to pay respect
While I agree with your points, all that really matters is public perception. If the general public wants to see it changed, it will change. Time will tell.
You do realize that Black Hawk and his entire community were victims of a genocidal slaughter called the 'Black Hawk War' that involved the US army and territorial militias chasing down Black Hawk's band, including women and children, with gatling guns. Indigenous people are people, not caricatures or mascots. There is no 'respectable' way to make people into caricatures.
Lots information here that is very true and very relevant about the logo. It was meant to be respectful, but also, not made by the actual tribe. . One thing we should also consider is the Blackhawk tribe themselves. As a blackhawks fan and friend to a family of Blackhawk Native Americans- I can tell you that a large majority of the tribe loves the name and logo..- From what I’m told anyway. But there are still some who don’t like like it. I am OK with it being changed and I think it will be someday. I completely understand why people find it offensive. But again this should be up to the Blackhawk tribe. It’s okay they don’t include it - but please include CHI in alternate logos.
There’s nothing offensive about the Blackhawks logo. It’s literally just a Native American man. It’s not a caricature nor a mockery. There’s nothing wrong with it.

@Adventures With Mongos there is no Blackhawk tribe… the team was named for the original owners WW1 division (Blackhawk division). Which got its name from Chief Black Hawk of the Sauk Tribe. He had a lot of accomplishments like fighting against the British…. If you’re accusing people of not knowing the history you should probably do some homework too.
I have no problem with the team keeping the Blackhawks name, as others have said, its based on the original owners WW1 division name, which was named after a well known Chief from the Illinois area. That being said, the logo is a goofy caricature of an Native American and I understand why some consider it offensive. If Blackhawks is for a WW1 division anyways, why not switch the logo to the awesome one that looks like a hawks head with the same colour scheme someone designed a few years ago? It looks awesome, and isn't offending anyone.

My personal critiques and what I would change. The Devils and the Flames logos should be elevated to the best -- especially when you look at the sketch of the Jersey Devil. Boston, Buffalo, Rangers, and St. Louis should be elevated to A tier. Flyers should move to B tier -- I was quite surprised when I realized that was a "P".

Seriously. Disappointing. They're called the Blackhawks because it's badass and an honor to the courage and tenacity of the Blackhawk people. To not include it because it is "offensive" to privileged white people is disgustingly racist.
@@Tacoswithlime Dude, how is what YOU are saying not being racist or derogatory towards white people? Can you not see the irony in your statement? You are making an assumption that it’s only white people that are offended. On top of that, automatically calling white people privileged if they don’t agree with you is prejudiced as well. Most white people are not offended by the logo or the name. I’ve seen more Native Americans getting upset and offended than white people. Look at the Redskins. They are caving in just to be politically correct and wanting to change the name because it’s the Native Americans who are the offended ones and bitching about it. NOT white people. So don’t be offensive yourself by being derogatory towards white people and calling them privileged because we are not offended by the logo or name. Yes, it IS derogatory to call white people Karen or privileged. It’s not any different then saying derogatory things to a black person, Hispanic person or Asian person. I’m so sick of people calling white people racists or bigots and then turn around themselves and do it themselves or think that ONLY white people are racists. Btw, when you look at the history of people getting offended it’s the MINORITIES who get offended the easiest, yell racists the loudest and see color and race the most. THEY are the ones who want to be seen by their color. THEY want to use their race as a fucking crutch to get their way instead of actually working hard. THEY want the special treatment. Enough is enough with this kind of thinking. This is why we will never get past racism because jackasses like yourself have to bring race into this or make stupid comments like this. Are there some white people who are offended over everything? Absolutely. Does that automatically make them privileged? Fuck no. It only means they have nothing better to do than be offended just for the sake of being offended. If anyone here makes a comment calling me a Karen or saying that I’m offended from Josh’s comment by me writing this comment YOU just proved my point about the hypocrisy.

All of the detail in the current Maple Leafs logo has a meaning behind it. The Logo has 31 points as a nod to when the Maple Leaf Gardens' opened in 1931. It also has 17 veins to represent the founding of the franchise in 1917, & 13 of those veins are at the top of the crest to commemorate the Maple Leafs 13 Stanley Cup wins. The Maple Leafs name itself was originally chosen by Conn Smythe because of the Maple Leaf Badge the soldiers of the Canadian Army wore in WW1, which is why when following the rules of proper nouns they are referred to as Leafs & not Leaves.
@@astrobot3038 The Leafs were wearing white sweaters with a green maple leaf for their first game on February 17, 1927. On September 27, 1927, it was announced that the Leafs had changed their colour scheme to blue and white, which they have worn ever since. While the Leafs say that blue represents the Canadian skies and white represents snow, it is also true that top-level Toronto teams have worn blue since the Toronto Argonauts adopted blue as their primary colour in 1873. Another theory is that Smythe changed the colours as a nod to his high school alma mater, Upper Canada College, whose teams have worn blue and white since 1829 and the University of Toronto whose teams have also worn blue and were called the Varsity Blues.

@@BoonmoneR shut up
@@Tacoswithlime Dude, how is what YOU are saying not being racist or derogatory towards white people?

@@NerfKnuckles So what you’re saying is that there’s no logical reason for a maple leaf to be blue.
I think it would benefit from omitting text entirely. Other than that it’s decent.
@@astrobot3038 the only reason I can think of is it’s Toronto’s colors. Much like the black and yellow of Pittsburg. But the Raptors kind of break that.
Blackhawks logo is and always will be the best.
The worst take in this video by far is Marissa standing behind calling Philly sports fans the best.
I must admit, as soon as I heard the leafs fan was going to be ranking the bruins logo I was immediately thinking of course she’s going to shit on it but I was pleasantly surprised by the reviews. Love the videos guys !!
