One thing that's very noticeably absent from this commercial compared to commercials in the US is any disclaimer that says something like "Do Not Attempt". I've seen that in commercials where the car is driving in a straight line down an empty street, no stunts: "Professional driver on a closed course. Do not attempt." So don't drive the car they want you to buy!
There was a series of Toyota TV ads in New Zealand during the 1980s, most featuring Barry "Crumpy" Crump (writer) and Lloyd "Scotty" Scott (actor and radio host). The most famous was the 'bugger' ad.
RIP Frank Whitten (Grandpa Ted on Outrageous Fortune and The Speights Beer Southern man) - he's the one that says "Cows.. next door" and "Afternoon ladies".. Gone but not forgotten! (great Kiwi Ad)
New Zealand advert mate not Aussie.

I think it is more 2005 vs 2020 rather then US vs Australia.
@@catprog I seem to remember disclaimers like that on commercials in the US back in 2005, but then it has been a few years. Maybe it's gotten worse.
