I have watched videos and made junk journals for years and have never seen this genius thing. I already tried it today after watching your video. turned out cool
This book block idea is Brilliant! I love coffee dying paper. In the winter I just let my papers air dry, at the end I use my heat gun. This spring it was to hot and I needed paper. So I whipped up a batch and sat it outside. Oh my goodness, the Magic the sun did on those top pages was Breathtaking! Once those were dry, I took them off and let the sun continue to work it's magic on the bottom, wetter pieces. I don't know how I'll get thru the winter without that magic. Trying to stock up now.
You are a lucky girl to have such much sun! Here in Austria we have a rainy summer... And I made the experience that the papers stick together while they are drying in the sun...
What a great solution! I will try it. Love the smell of coffee and hand distressing is challenging...takes so much time. This definitely looks better and is much quicker. I don’t own a heat gun yet but you’ve given me a reason. LOL! Thank you for sharing!
Luise, you are soooooo brave!!!!!! I would never have done what you did to those pages. I would be terrified that I would drop the book into the bowl or that I would get the coffee all down in the book. Seeing you do it, I now know it is possible and it looks super cool when you dried it. I am going to try it, it looks do able for me. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea, you are very inspirational and you explain it very well too. Have a wonderful weekend, keep safe and well. Blessings and hugs as always, Diana
This is such creative solution for distressing a whole book. It’s a lovely book too! A book like that would not be easily or inexpensively found in the US.
Somehow I keep watching the German speaking videos 1st. Lol! Again what great ideas for pockets! I might now understand the German videos but I really enjoy watching them! 🥰
Oh yes! The smell of coffee and old books. Worth trying just for that experience; takes me way back to university and the lowest stacks at the library. Those shelves housed the oversized art books and the student lounge was right nearby. Fond memories, probably started my obsession with old books and paper.💜
Luise, you are so much fun to watch! Such a great idea and wonderful pockets. I followed along with you and you are right, yummy smell! On to part two…hugs and blessings, ❤️🤗🇨🇦
Love Love Love your method! I want to dip the whole book! Dry the book with a heat dryer. Then beat it up like you did in a different video. I would love that grungy look. Sadly, I was a victim of two floods. I did see my glossy paged books did stick together and never hit them apart without tearing them but maybe that will add to the look. I’m going to experiment tomorrow.
Oh great minds think alike! I did this not so long back! But my books don't have such gorgeous text! Also I only did one big application, your way is better. Not sure I'm brave enough to do it on a finished project or the oven either😱. Yes, gorgeous smell. Lol mess is almost essential 😆 you should see my mess with oil paint. 🙈 . You can go over those folded edges with coffee and a paint brush. Great tip with the circle punch! Loads if pockets to put in my ideas book. Very neat sewing Luise! Great video, I will see the next one in the morning 😁. Tfs 💖
Oh yes, I do like it! This is a great technique. Gives coffee dyeing a new look. Love all the variations of folding pockets you shared today. Wow, great video. Thanks
Oh Wow!! This was so fun. I love coffee dyeing papers. NEVER thought of this before. I’d be petrified to try this on my own. Then I see it done and it’s not so scary! Lol. Thank you!!
For every woman on a budget, necessity is the mother of invention. Sorry Tim Holtz, I wanted your distress ink and other stuff that is on my wish list. Now, not so much, thanks to the Miss Einstein/Luise Heinzl. And I just want to say that is incredibly beautiful Font in that old book and is the language German? I will try this after lunch. And thank you so much for offering this method that is easier too. Canada
That pocket with the three angles pockets, look like the sun's rays, gorgeous 🙂
Very cool idea. I think the double dip gave such a nice effect. And if it makes a mess, it means you’re having fun.
Wow. What a great idea. The outcome is so amazing. Each page gives different patterns. Thank you for sharing this with us.
