It amazes me not only how good the Dazzlings Songs are in the Equestria Girls series, but even in MLP in general! It’s been like what 4-5 years since the end of Generation 4, but I STILL listen to the Dazzlings’ Songs all the time!! The sound design was done so well in their songs, with the audio panned left and right for Sonata & Aria’s vocals, in addition to the delay put on all 3 voices, giving it this sorta ancient and forbidden undertone. It’s like a reminder that the power they’re using is a long forgotten and feared equestrian magic.
Even at the beginning of “Welcome to the Show”, starting in B Phrygian Mode (a mode that you typically don’t hear much in pop music), the uneven time signature removing 1/8th every other measure making it simultaneously hypnotic and hard to keep up with, the counterpoint of the layered voices, and the panning of the synthesizers which gives this sorta ebbing and flowing feeling, like bubbles rising up from a deep trench; it’s all so freaking good!!! “Battle of the Bands,” “Under Our Spell,” and “Welcome to the Show” are all phenomenal songs, and I legit get annoyed when I’m just vibing to their songs, and then the Rainbooms interrupt them lol
