- This is a very rare live recording from the 2001 Night of the Proms. It is the only complete copy of Meat Loaf's performance of 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light'. All the other registrations (Dutch, German and Belgian TV are edited and cut short to 10 minutes. This was aired by a local Dutch TV station in 2001 and is unedited! Enjoy this rarity!

I've worked "backstage" on the "technical" side of music since 1978. This whole performance, from eveybody involved was fantastic. It is so incredibly rare that the backing orchestra is actually allowed to have a personality. (Have fun). It just added to this incredible show.
It must be fun for professional musicians to cut lloose and play with a personality.
Eastlyn Burkholder He means orchestra musicians. Unlike rock band members they are usually sitting in their seats, not allowed to jump up like the horn section or twirl the bass or use the flute like an air guitar. It just doesn’t happen.

Patti Russo collaborated on MLs concerts and recordings. She's quite the temptress! This is musical theatre as good as anything you'll see on (or off) Broadway. It is a masterpiece in the fashion of "Bohemian Rhapsody."

He’d be an 80s drummer. Many drummers were experimenting with Simmons style kits. Maybe he just like the sound for this. Obviously Meatloaf agreed or neither he or Jim would’ve gone with it.

There is a live version of Paradise from the 90’s when they are on an outdoor stage during the day and during the baseball scene Meat takes everything off of her but her panties/bra and later in the song puts his coat on her so she is covered up. Anybody know which performance I’m talking about/ have a RUclips link to find it?
