I have a close guy friend that I have had sense preschool age. He is more like my brother. Will never be lust/husband material for me. My husband has a female best friend that he has known his entire life. We are never behind locked doors. We never badmouth each other to our friends. My husband can walk in and never find me in a compromising position. I don't share anything with my best friend that I wouldn't share with my husband (minus surprise party and presents kind if things). My best friend and my husband's best friends are never put in the middle of any of our issues. My husband and my best friend hang out. I hang out with my husband's best friend. We all talked very early in our dating. My husband can look over my shoulder or listen in to any conversation we have. I can do the same. Our best friends pray with us.
I enjoy hearing the relationship advice from you two. Your honesty and truthfulness is something that I appreciate. It's clear to me you're not trying to get views or be popular but are trying to say what is pleasing to God. Thanks for these types of videos and God bless!
Being friends with the opposite sex isn't always bad, the only difference is there is more boundaries than one with the same sex. The moment your partner starts lying about anything to do with it, then it's a problem. You never know what someone's intentions are especially in this generation, but to my experience not everyone from the opposite sex will have romantic feelings towards you, and the great people out there are going to respect your relationship and never attempt to get in the way and you can build life long friendships with them. They exist, they are just a lot more rare.
Yes I completely agree. I definitely believe guys and girls can be just friends, even though it rarely happens. I mean I have guy friends I have no feelings for, and I’ve seen guys who don’t have feelings towards their female friends. It obviously means that it’s possible to be friends with someone where neither have feelings for each other. But it’s something you have to be careful with.
I know great people who say they are Christians married to a spouse that’s an atheist. I actually know a few couples like that . Very good people but just blows my mind people just date and marry people with different beliefs .
Thank you so much! I support you, and pray for you to continue having this conversations that encourage to follow God and walk with Him! And as an Israeli, I thank you for supporting my peaple in time of need, by donating to the hostages families. God bless you! You are valuable asset to the kingdon of God.
You guys are such an inspirational Christian couple! I recently reconnected with my faith and ya’ll helped remind me the importance of theology of the body. Keep spreading God and your awesome messages! ❤
This Christian dating advice is amazing content. You are both filled with Godly wisdom and it’s refreshing to see in this generation! Keep up the videos guys God bless.
If God is real, and God created everyone, and God knows what’s in everyone’s heart, and God knows every person on this earth better than they know themselves, and if only God knows exactly what gifts and what destiny He has planned out for each person. And if God is able to hear our prayers, and then answer our prayers, and He is able move in our lives through His Holy Spirit… then why would you want to date different people and try and use your judgement to find a spouse. God already knows the perfect match for you, He has a perfect soulmate for you, you just to to pray and wait for Him to show you.
The Bible tells husbands to love their wives by giving up all his desires for her. Does this apply in the dating phase, too? Or is this exclusively in marriage/post-engagement? Another way to phrase this is should boyfriends treat their girlfriends like wives? Also why? I’m not talking about sex but rather being 100% sacrificial in every aspect of his life. I hope these questions make sense.
I think that's a great question! It could be helpful to start determining if both the man and woman can fulfil that call during dating, but you're also not actually married (even post engagement) so I don't think it's a requirement to do biblically. You're not in covenant when you're dating, so I think it's important to have healthy boundaries but also "test" how you work as a couple with the view of marriage in the future.
@@grace42874 Thank you for providing an answer to my question. Just so I'm interpreting it correctly, you're saying to not give up everything in the dating phase, correct?
@@cordovanhobbyist895 I think you'll just need to be guided in it by the holy spirit as to how it looks for your specific relationship. But as an example, I dated a guy a few years ago who had the view that I should be fully submitting to him so I gave up friend groups and other things that he wasn't too keen on. While in some ways I don't regret it, and it showed respect for his opinion, he wasn't my husband and had no final authority over me (as my boyfriend of a month or two). With your context of dating a woman, I don't think it's healthy for any relationship to treat each other as husband and wife when they aren't - you're still brother and sisters in Christ till you are in covenant (and engagement isn't marriage yet either), so it'll be a balance of dating with intention to marry and determining if you'll be a good fit, but also understanding you're not in covenant till you're married. Hope that makes sense or helps ☺️
There's lots of scripture about how husbands and wives should treat each other, but as Christians we still have guidance in scripture about how to love and treat our family, friends, etc. We should be loving them like Jesus loves us anyway!
@@cordovanhobbyist895 my other reply got lost somewhere, bummer! But yes I'd say that we shouldn't be giving up everything (as a husband) or unconditionally submitting (as a wife) to someone who isn't your spouse yet. But so important to be guided by the holy spirit as you go too :)
it's a lack of self confidence to not allow the relationship with the opposite sex, isn't the marriage made to seal an Union ? If each one respect that, there is no risk with the "opposite sex"

Hey hope you are doing well, just wanted to say that you shouldn't try to be with an atheist or somebody else of a different belief. It will end up hurting the person or God. Had this happen to me recently where I liked this girl who doesn't believe in Christ, but I tried to both pursue a relationship with her and to follow God's word and it almost went terribly south. Now if you are already in such a relationship, consult others as well, but my advice would be to leave. It just won't work out. Every person is different, but what will almost 99.9% of the time happen is that you or give up God's word to do what your partners wants, or vice versa, which is good, but will hurt your partner as a person who doesn't believe in God will be simply frustrated about why you don't listen to them. For the very same reason God told the Jews to not marry foreigners, not because they were foreigners, but because they didn't love God and would turn the Jews away from worshipping and loving God.
If y’all could respond to this, or just anyone, it’d make me feel so much better. I’ve struggled with lust since I was young. I quit porn well over a year ago, however there’s a lot of gray area between completely sexual content and normal everyday content. I still have issues with lust when taking that in between ground into account, if that makes sense. I’m afraid at how long it may take me to quit. I don’t want to be in a serious relationship again because I don’t want to hurt a girl I care about (even if I communicate my weakness well). I want to be done with this before having an important lady in my life, but I don’t even know what to do. I am scared. I am afraid to pick between being noble and having a loving partner in the future if I do not succeed soon. What do I even do?
Thank you for this video, finally someone else agrees that partners shouldn't have opposite sex friends! I also donated a tiny bit, really hope it helps. Sending prayers to you two!
I think this depends on what you mean by “close friends” of the opposite sex. If there is someone you regularly talk to but you aren’t super emotionally attached to that kind of relationship can help your marriage by providing that opposite sex perspective on issues. I don’t think this is needed, but saying this is true will just make an atmosphere where men and women have a hard time just being friends and respecting each other outside of a romantic relationship. It’s equally wierd for a guy to have no girl friends but their girlfriend, that’s a red flag.
So I have a problem with this video. You guys keep telling us that you need to be super close and thinking of marriage, to read together and pray together all the time. Like just no! Maybe you guys just said it badly? But you don’t need to be extremely close, you don’t have to be reading together all the time. Take a look at your relationship. Is it rooted in the spirit where you don’t always need them but love them? Or is it this clingy “gotta do everything together” relationship?

I see some double standards here. A woman with guy friends is a clear no, but a guy who is a porn addict is okay? I think that latter is worse in my opinion
I think the difference is that knowing you have a p*rn addiction and not wanting to do it doesn't immediately mean you stop. But you should want to stop. If you're close friends with opposite sex, you're doing it willfully, it's not something you're falling into
We never said porn addiction is okay, but we do realize that there are many struggling with this who need hope and encouragement to put an end to it. We are not setting a double standard. We hold the same standard for both men and women. Women shouldn’t have close guy friends when in a committed relationship, and men also shouldn’t have close women friends when in a committed relationship.
