There's no getting around comparing this version to the original. That's natural with any apadtation. The key word being adaptation. If you want something to be exactly like the original in a 1 to 1 translation then what's the point of making a new version you can just watch the original. I get the animation was a very important m and loved series by many including myself but you sit there and only point out what's changed and what's not as good as the original does a somewhat disservice to the new perspective and direction that tiis version is attempting. Yeah I miss a lot of what's been cut out but I can still appreciate this version for what it is and I think it's no where near as bad as everyone is making it out to be.
Overall, I like this better. Because I think the characters feel more realistic. Some tropes work better in cartoons, but I think getting to Sokka’s age and being sexist would create a larger character arc issue. Besides, it’s good to have all three leads have a similar form of development- becoming who they really are. And it’s nice not to have a jerky boy treating his sister like crap. I also don’t think a girl on a matriarchal island will really fall for you if your first impression is that you think men are better than women. Just my feeling.
I honestly think the sexism wont play as well in live action. Largely because I’m not sure it really makes sense that a teenager becoming a young adult who is responsible for the defence of a village surrounded by older women and gran gran, would get away with thinking / treating women that way. There’s honestly better ways to do character growth. Also, I don’t think we should look at Suki’s actions as assault. Clearly the island is mostly women and they don’t get outsiders. I think curiosity, and attraction ofc, goive a good grounding for the uncomfortable stare. As for the fighting, he says he’s a warrior and commits to sparring, so it’s totally consensual. He just clearly isn’t used to fighting women, let alone someone as good as Suki. So it’s still a kind of sexist oriented stupidity. He has already seen she’s good, he just talks himself up awkwardly. I think Suki is thinking that he wants her to best him, and then she’s confused that he responds poorly to it haha
Besides, they will cover the sexism theme with Pakku and is more important for the Katara character. In a season with only 8 episodes will feel redundant cover this theme twice.
You fail to realize that sexism is taught and it starts with communities… The cartoon treats the viewer more like an adult than the live action does. Disappointing
Except your forgetting how a century of no avatar has affected how people's thoughts of the avatar have changed and that instead of hope he fled. More of an adult thinking than a child thinking. They have to push this to the adult crowd because they aren't making money of of kids watching this.
Dear considering that our only comparison is the awful movie it'a not bad. I mean are there differences and maybe a few problems yes but overall compared to what could have been it's a worth while show. However one of the few things is like One Piece which definitely needs it is a bigger budget
Criticising and making comments on on things that you don’t have the skills or talent to make it look better anyways so stop complaining and enjoy watch the damn show took a lot of work to make this possible.
Bruh. That huge budget and they they explain everything to death for no reason. It's literally an hour longer run time then the cartoon. Show don't tell us like we're too dumb to understand. The acting is not convincing. Take time to let the actors process complex emotions instead of rushing it. They perform it like it's their 1st cold read together. They didn't learn from shamallamadingdong overexpostion. Of course the creators left. It's straight lazy and phoned in. Oh but the cast is superficially accurate so it's amazing 🙄

I was staring at Suki's mom the whole show like "is that Kumiko from Karate Kid II?" Had to look it up. And it is! Crazy that was her 35 years ago.
Had the same with Zhao, like is that Sang from Rush Hour?!

I agree. Sokka still has room for growth, but I think making him cartoonishly sexiest in the live action would have made him a lot less likeable.
Kyoshi was harsh to Aang because she needed to be. There’s no more time for hand holding.
more like no more time for babysitting
💯💯

The whole point of my channel is to share my reactions and thoughts on things I watch. So no, I'm not going to stop doing that.
