A very good debut album. ‘Black Diamond’ and ‘Cold Gin’ are my favorites on this album. This one is a very close second to ‘Destroyer’. Thx for the coverage.
I discovered KISS before The Beatles. I begged my mom to buy me KISS ALIVE! and I even shed some tears to seal the deal. I was a life long fan since age 9. I have to admit the Wicked Lester album is one of my favorite KISS albums, even though Peter and Ace were not on it. It's watered down psych and folky. Gene and Paul wouldn't return to flutes and ukuleles again, that's why I cherish my bootleg copy. Excellent new series Jeff.
OMG! . I was kind of kiding when I said a KISS deep dive would be great. I thought I might of blocked me from commenting after that :). I'll be saving this for this evening. Thank you very much.
That time again Friday, few beers watching your great content. Kiss studio album sound never cut it for me, only the Kiss Alive 2 side 4...Rocket Ride etc..think only in UK we got that side 4 as studio, If I remember. Admire Criss, as a drummer myself and ACE as musicians ....Live I only listen to, great live band. Cool stuff. Cheers again.
KISS!!!!! I’m so glad you’re doing this deep dive. They are one of my favorite bands and also very influential to Rock and Heavy Metal. The first album is basically a greatest hits. Black Diamond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty much agree with you on this album. Some songs are great and some are just ok and thats how i feel about most of their albums. I say keep rolling with Kiss deep dives. They've got a bunch of great songs and have a good history with fan following and live shows . I know alot of people do not like them but ultimately they are just a fun band and its always a good time to just throw some Kiss on and blast it lol.
Damn I was 5 years old when I first saw this episode back in 1974 I can still remember that wow....👍🥁⚡⚡ Man that was one hell of an intro I enjoyed that seriously Kl⚡⚡ 🥁🥁
I am obviously a bigger fan of Kiss than you (and most people lol) but you did a great job here. I always cringe when Gene tries to be “evil incarnate “ on Mike Douglass 😂
Had this album as a teenager. I knew this band was going places but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would it become both a rock and roll and a merchandise marketing juggernaut. Loved the KISS comic books that came out as well. The movie "KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park"? Welllllllllll, we won't talk about that......
Great job Jeff I am going to love this series🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Correction I did love it.. You always do such a great job with these deep dives.. You should do one on Rush.. or maybe you did, and I don’t remember it, also did you ever do a deep dive on Dire Straits? I hope all is well🤘🏻
Kiss and Van Halen are not my favorites. But I'm open to watching your deep dives because you give honest opinions and fascinating insight into music I otherwise would pass by.
Hey Jeff really enjoyed the video my friend. I'm not even close to a kiss fan but I do got respect for what they did and music and all the fans they had, super job with this video man. I still think Ace freeway was way too talented to be in this band...LoL. Nothing but respect for you and your channel
man, if kiss just almost sounded like early black sabbath the visual would have fit.and….they would have been the biggest band,…they were about as heavy as the rolling stones but not as talented. period
Kiss is well below average talent with above average stage show and clown outfits. Proves anyone can make it in rock n roll if ya just try hard enough.

Thanks George! I’ve never heard any Wicked Lester material but I may need to seek it out!
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 It's like night and day with the KISS catalogue.

You are welcome! I hope it doesn’t disappoint. 😉
Yes!!!! Finally😂… I was hoping you would do a deep dive series on Kiss🤘🏻

You had to be 14-15 at the time it came out to truly appreciate the WHOLE vibe of what was going on.
Awesome 👏

Thanks Jason! I will probably take this as far as the Elder. If the copyright police let me get that far anyway.
Cold gin is one of my favorites
Please do more and it ranks number in the top 3 not counting live albums

This is awesome
Thank you bro
Love the early kiss footage
Cool video Jeff! Of course i love this album and band far more than you do , great footage,I always like seeing it! Cheers brother 👍🤘🤘
Thanks brother! I hope I do them justice!
Dude, these deep dives keep getting better.
You're the man Jeff!
Thank you Chris!
I agree the definite versions are on kiss alive.

Black diamond rules
I like the San Francisco footage better in black and white.

Yeah, I believe the band refuses to even talk about that disaster. 🤣
I was thinking the other day that Van Halen's debut reminds me of Van Halen's. So many of their iconic songs are on the debut album.
Agreed, they both play like greatest hits!
If you do Alive II he has a good story

Thanks Craig! By popular demand…you wanted the best, you got…Kiss!
Thank God you didn't show the entire interview segment (Mike Douglas). Gene made SUCH an ass of himself. SO cringe!

Thanks for stopping by Rod! Ace Frehley was the superstar of that band for sure. 🤟🏻🤟🏻
My husband has taken me twice, he seen them 7 times
Wow! That’s 7 more times than me.

What happened to the Van Halen deep dive; was really enjoying it!
I got a copyright strike for one of the videos.

Makes me wonder wat kinda Rick fan you are idiot
