My husband just went to his dresser drawer one night (when we were dating) and pulled out a box and laid next to me in bed, didn’t say a word, just super nervously let me open the box and slid the ring on my finger, then we kissed. He didn’t say anything, didn’t get down on one knee, and I just remember how his eyes kept looking at me so nervously and how sweet the moment was... Everyone gives him crap for not making a big show, getting down on one knee, or saying a speech. But honestly, I didn’t care! It was special in its own way.

When people learn the lesson, that proposing infront of a crowd, doesn't matter if it's family or random people, is never a good idea?
it’s actually usually a perfectly fine idea.
Many people don’t like being the center of attention of a crowd. I def don’t and would prefer a more private proposal.
That is like my worst nightmare.
I feel like, depending on the personalities involved, big/public proposals are awesome if you’ve already mentioned together that you both want to get married. Mutual interest in taking the next step and long term collaboration. 👌
I feel like doing it in a large crowd puts pressure on the person to say yes bc if not they may look bad
My dad gave the engagement store his home phone number rather than his mobile number so of course the store called my parents apartment and my mom picked up the phone and they said that the engagement ring was ready to be picked up. My mom was so happy that she was going to be proposed to by my dad, but she decided not to tell him that the store called and later that week my dad proposed and she acted all surprised and didn’t tell him that she already knew about the ring until their honeymoon.

When someone says "I'm not good enough for you", it's never true. It usually means they have already checked out of the relationship and don't know how to break up.

My fiance was going to propose on the Farris wheel in Las Vegas but ended up not because it didnt feel right with all the people around, so he kneeled down on one knee out side the bathroom of our hotel room and waited 20 minutes till i was done getting ready. I opened the door butt naked saw him with the ring in his hand and tackled him to the ground screaming yes! before he could even ask. It doesnt matter how you get engaged as long as you love the person, you dont need some big flashy thing.

I was so proud of my fiance when he proposed he planned it out himself he took me to the place that we had our 1st date and he proposed on the top of the Ferris wheel in the amusement park we rode together. I always said I wouldn't cry but when his eyes welled up I started balling. It was really nice we're still happily engaged.

My husband literally just said “So do you wanna?” We picked out the ring together so I knew he was going to ask. He said he was still nervous I would say no even though I helped pick out the ring. Obviously I said yes but sometimes I wish I had gotten a real proposal.

and then he said he had a gift for her
and give her a purse (of her liking)
then telling her he has sumn inside too
and then maybe a pic of them on top over the ring / ring box or lipstick or sumn so that first catches her eyes
and she checks that out
then she would see the rig /ring box and take it out
and while she is takign it out go down on one knee so by the time she looks up (well down) she gets the idea

and as she goes in n gets in to get it out. down on the knee n boom!!!

Y’all ain’t ready for this one... big theater nerd here! I was a senior in high school and it was spring musical time! At curtain call, in front of a sold out house of 400, my boyfriend of almost 4 years proposed to me. Of course i said yes! Within the next few days, i found out he had cheated on me numerous times with under class men and other cast members. When i confronted him, he took the ring from my finger and told me that he didn’t love me anymore😂

We always knew we were going to get married, and my husband regularly 'jokingly proposed' with random objects. Cute and all but it 100% backfired when he ACTUALLY proposed and I didn't want to look like an idiot and jump up and down saying yes if he was joking (likely he'd roll with it 😂). Usually I knew he was joking, but he had a ring this time and I feel so bad that I just asked 'are you serious?' about 3 or 4 times before saying yes 🤦♀️

My fiancé and I went to New York to see the ball drop. On New Year’s Eve Eve we went to Central Park, he pretend to take a photo of me looking at the buildings. When I turned back around he was down on one knees and asked me to marry him. The great thing is that no one was there. It was sort of a rainy day, it was cold, and all the little activities around were closed. Besides the actual proposal and me saying yes, he was mostly happy that something he planned went well for once!
When someone says "you deserve better than me" they either want (1) attention/validation or (2) you to initiate the break up so they don't have to.
It can be, but it is also a common feeling that many people who are going through a mentally rough time have, and they really mean it.
It should be considered a red flag that there is something wrong with how they value themselves and their self esteem.
I thought the ring was gonna get lost in her purse and never find its way out of the jungle...

But we were at a festival the month prior to our musical weekend, and we were walking and talking through the campsites and he just proposed there and then. No ring. No photos. Just us under the stars.

And my dad said yes. So my mum asked "ok, when?" And my dad just proposed right there, yes, they were both in their underwear and he proposed. And then a few days later, he gave her a ring when they were having lunch in a KFC 😂😂😂 I know, so romantic
Ok, here’s my story:
I was dating this person over the internet for 2 months. They lived in Mississippi and I lived in Massachusetts. Anyway, one night we were talking in a group chat and they said they needed to say something to me. I had kinda known what they were gonna say because they had half joked about it before, but obviously I wasn’t ready to get engaged at 17 with someone who I had never met in real life. Anyway, they did it in the group chat. I obviously said no, and we broke up a few weeks later because they needed to focus on their mental health.
I just came for the proposal stories. I don’t really need the “horror” part. I hope all the people are living happy awesome lives after these experiences. 💕

i was proposed to in front of my father..... the man was a jekyll hyde alcoholic.... it was Thanksgiving. i didn't want to embarrass anyone, and said 'yes'... but i knew that it wasn't going to be a thing....i eventually left because i really hated having to cover up bruises he never even remembered giving me.... (not to mention living in angry anxiety)... i found out that he gradually, eventually drank himself to death.
My fiance (we'd been together for 10 years) told me he was cheating on me with a co-worker too... Not a good feeling. I feel you girl! It was a blessing in disguise tho! I'm so glad I'm not with him anymore!

My dad didn’t even ask my mum to marry him, technically. He just wrote “will you become engaged to me?” on a banner at the small party he threw. Bless my dad.😂
My fiance proposed to me on New Years Day 2020. I always said I wanted my family around and he did it when we were all sitting down to New Years Brunch. I was actually sicker than a dog that day and the day before. My throat was hurting so bad and I was so stuffy. I also had a mouthful of toasted bread when he knelt down on one knee... I was sick and had a mouthful of food but hey, I wouldn't have it any other way :)

oh man! I hate bad endings, the first girl had such a nice story but the plot twist was horrible.. the man is with the right person, because she knew he was nervous and knew he's bad at these things so she just kept calm and waited for him to do his thing and just accept it
So my cousin just got engaged and I don’t know how her fiancé did it but the day we got the news was good news to a bad day. My grandfather has Alzheimer’s went out of the house that day with no supervision just to get a scratch off card. He was missing for 40 minutes and I had to call 911 cause my grandma was the only person with me and she can barely speak English. Now my grandpa has a gps tracker and is forever under intense supervision. But happy for my cousin. Like i said, good news to a bad day.
When my dad proposed to my mom it was New Years and they were watching the count down and at midnight he put the ring on her lap and said will you marry me and my mom said are you sure🤦♀️. Me and my brother always make fun of her for saying that
