adding the basic non EX mewtwo to my deck has been the best decision for me. i feel like it makes the deck so much more consistent. it stalls for a long time and gives you more time to ramp up your EX mewtwo on the bench while also stalling to seek out the gardevoir evolutions. i started winning so much more consistently with it. sometimes it even stays alive long enough for it to start pumping damage and becomes a threat on its own.
also i wish volkin talked about the meowth version of the mewtwo deck. using pay day to draw more cards seems like a good tool to get your gardevoir up faster, i never tried it myself tho so i was hoping to get a bit more insight on it.
Meowth version of GardeMewtwo folds to basically any fast deck (Pikachu ex, Articuno ex), loses in general to a mirror without a meowth even with draw consistency. In fact it makes the matchup against existing counters (Wheezing Arbok) much worse. In fact because it is an additional basic it was significantly less consistent than literally putting in the 40HP item holders that do nothing. Non EX mewtwo is still the more consistent variant because your goal is to add an additional wall that can still work by itself if gardevoir comes online.
@@xOscarAx the chance of drawing meowth as your only opening basic ruins that deck. If you keep it to just ralts and Mewtwo I've rarely seen anyone need additional card draw.
Anything Short of an actual, absolute brick of a start results in a win for me because of this Mewtwo. In fact, I've never lost a single game outside of bricks which consisted of Ralts and random, needless starting/drawing cards. Pikachu decks are fodder with the extra wall
Same. manage to get one just yesterday. been opening those pikachu packs since the game first came out and was oversaturated with Japanese players. haven’t gotten 1 gold yet. I’ve been opening lotta packs at the starts now to opening 2-3 times a day. no god packs either.
The problem with these results are that there is so much RNG involved in this game, it's hard to be competitive. A Charizard player who draws all the combo pieces and get at least 2 heads the first two turns on a Moltres will absolutely destroy any deck. A pikaex deck with a bad start will lose most times or not going against Mewtwo especially. A Mewtwo without it's battery can lose to pikaex relatively quickly. Too much luck involved to have a meaningful competition.
@@Trujones true but its rng and too simple. the game needs more complexity. most of the time you can tell from who goes second and starting hand who is going to win thats how simple it is lol. or like 4-5 turns ahead.

if there is no rng, charaizard will be the top of it. every game. the reason its too strong because it has inconsistency in it. well it wil be a bit better with upcoming cards for sure.
I don’t think the format will provide a good competitive format given its current rules. I think shifting to 4 prize points would be a good start. 4 prize makes standard Pokemon more valuable and un incentivises running just ex Pokemon. Ex Pokemon have no downside once you have more than two currently since if you loose an ex you might aswell go into a second ex since it’s stronger than a generic Pokemon.
The Mewtwo List is a relatively "old" one. You can tech regular Mewtwo for the extra Basic or not use it at all and still see a good result just based on the deck itself being good. The Pika list was the one that made me lift an eyebrow specifically due to how bad I feel Raichu is without the extra setups. It's the Charizard of the element; Very powerful, can KO 95% of the game once setup, but overall weak due to the amount of specific moments it needs to thrive in comparison to other cards. I cannot wait to see what support they bring to the game to assist decks that are struggling in the meta (Charizard Deck is in a lot of A Tier lists from what I've seen despite how "bad" it is atm) become more consistent and what other Trainer Cards will be implemented. Having Sabrina represent "Boss' Orders" is so fkn clutch
Raichu will get knocked off quickly by a better electric card eventually; but for now its more reliable then Zapdos for taking out walls like Venusaur or potentially one shotting mew two with giovanni. Plus solid hp and a 1 retreat cost it works pretty good i tried this decklist and I liked it but I prefer to cut the Zapdos entirely.
@jjay2771 See, ironically i love how Zapdos functions in that deck. I don't like any of the coin flips (never have in TCG either lol) due to inconsistency. A point i dont see anyone bringing up with Mewtwo is that the deck is easy to build and only needs 2Exs. I built it with my 1st 20 pack on a account then re rolled and built it on 25 (no money spent). Chari, Blast and Venu all have to go into other packs to fully build, requires two more ExMon and if you want the ZapPika Deck you need 4 Exs. It involves the least luck in my opinion
Charizard deck struggles because it replies on evolution. Pikachu EX should have never been a Basic Pokemon, it should evolve from Pichu because that deck is brain dead easy and can wipe in turn 2. All it needs is a full bench. As much as we hate Mewtwo deck it’s fair because it relies on Gardevior. It will struggle without getting the full Gardevior most times. The meta is basically strong hitting Basic Pokemon. Evolution decks such as Venusaur and Charizard only wins when the opposing Mewtwo or Pikachu deck didn’t get good draws. Otherwise Evo decks will lose to Mewtwo and Pika. More so Pika.
Tbf misty starmie can do it in turn 2. Pikachu cannot do it in turn 2, it's >2 (total game turns) since it needs 2 energy and electric has no support card like misty, moltres, gardy etc.

Once you sacrificed 2 pokemons you can oneshot Pikachu EX and well after that they usually kill you with 3 energy on Raichu + giovanni
or its up to the fate of Zapdos coinflips.
If you play it like this than hold your redcard for the moment your powered up 4 energy mewto comes in (do not play/have another pokemon on the bench at this time)
Other wise you loose to sabrina and a second powered up pikachu/zapdos or Raichu + L.TSurge
If you go second , you can than attach the 5. Energy to your mewto and that's how you can win if you don't have guardevoir going second.
Thank you
NOT EVEN A STARMIE OMG
Ex spamming is embarrassing
GWAAHHH
as a free to play player , my ninetail/blaine is a match up to every meta in the game :D
Melmetal is S+ tier
Sí, pero en tus sueños 😂
Volk do you think they will go Gen 2 Gen 3 etc? And do you think they will do ranked tournaments in the future? Can I get a shoutout? lol
i think they will follow the generations in bulk with other bonuses like they did in genetic apex
Here i am just patiently waiting to play a Sinistcha/ Polteageist deck. Oh, also Weezing/ Tyranitar deck when gen2 hits next.
I DESTROY HER FIRST, SHE WAS EASY!
U dont need a Brain for Mewtu Decks, it plays in its own lol nö skill needed
Típico comentario de noob que pierde todas sus partidas
I FELT THIS
Nah Marowak EX is the goat
My Omastar/Starmie Deck sweeps both pikachu and mewtwo decks 🤷♂️
No. Everyone run the same 4 decks. Stop writing such trash in title or thumbnail. No card changed, why the meta should shift into garbage
Ahora dilo sin llorar
@ ebeniskim
who cares.....no ranked and same meta from day 1....boring game no updates no nerfs no buffs
El juego tiene menos de un mes de haber salido, gilipollas, qué, esperas que el meta cambie cada 3 días o que rayos, maldito anormal
if you use the mewtwo deck you are subhuman
