- Shortages of food and water in Gaza are causing widespread hunger. Animals in Gaza are also suffering, abandoned and forgotten. Al Jazeera has been speaking to a vet who has transformed his clinic into a sanctuary to save hundreds of abandoned animals.

Can’t even watch, this is so heartbreaking… Israel won’t even let animal food in since oct7 while Gazans still care for these animals, that says a lot ! The most innocent of innocent of beings, including pets, horses and donkeys are just massacred every day in front of our eyes 😢😢😢😢

@@manushlind9974I think dogs aren't a very common pet for Islamic people. At least that's the impression that I got from the TV series Little Mosque on the Prairie. The amount of Christians in Gaza is fairly small, so there probably aren't very many dogs in Gaza.

Those cats are well taken care of. Better care and plumper than the stray cats in the west. Im tired of having to take care of abandoned pets in the Lucky Country. Thank you for continuing to care for all life forms despite your circumstances.
Please; Never get tired of doing good deeds for humans or animals your rewards will be many believe it the helpless need our help carry on taking care and TNR is part of the way forward though humans are mostly to blame for abandoning most of the strays or not looking after them, as a cat will love and food will never stray.never give up on the helpless of the world please

Yesterday I had a confrontation with some pet owners who had the audacity to tell me it was my fault for feeding their hungry emaciated cats and taking care of the infestations of mites. You never trip over a suffering being and let it die in torment.

Earlier in the assault I saw a story of a little boy pulled from the rubble holding a kitten his family had found in the rubble without an owner. Both were clearly in shock, wall eyed and inert. Will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Please help Sulala Animal Rescue -- they are the only accredited animal rescue organization in Gaza. Animals are always the voiceless victims of all conflicts especially the overworked starving donkeys and horses in Gaza.
This is so sad how the US president can sit back and allow this to happen. I believe that veterinarians and all animal lovers should put pressure on the Biden administration to do something to stop this

Thank you Al Jazeera. The war is affecting cats and other animals just as it is affecting humans. Sulala Animal Rescue is also helping abandoned and stray animals. It's sad to see so many white cats. Shame on people who breed cats with no consideration for the cats' health or well being. Breeding animals for so called beauty is animal cruelty. If you really care, you should adopt a stray cat.

Yes, there are organizations outside Gaza trying to get help in, and a few inside. Sulala is the most reliable one mainly because it has support from international ngo’s

Not really but you can actually support the organizations in Gaza helping them. Sulala animal rescue does an unbelievable job rescuing
I doubt that Israel would let them send the pets out for adoption. They'd probably probably insist that they were smuggling something to do with Hamas along with the pets or claim that they had to do some lengthy check of the vehicles and then purposefully leave the pets in there without food long enough to kill them. This is intentional cruelty.
