would have been nice if he said the cord that was being played as well as the fret number, its just easier for my brain to wrap around that since ive only recently stopped concously having to find the finger placemnts for cords. otherwise its a damn good tutorial, ive been trying to find a good one for stolen dance and now i have, super late to the party here but whatever

Hello Carl, exceptional job as usual. I'm curious... When you work these songs out, it looks like you are referring to something to guide you. I mean, no one expects you to have memorized every song in the world's guitar library. Maybe they do, I don't, so don't worry about it. I'm just curious what you do to refer back, a chord chart or tabs or well, how do you do it. I'm not fast enough to read tabs and I don't know the names of chords well enough to read chord charts so I have a handicap right away. Do you have any other way of guitar shorthand?
Buddy Martin Hey Buddy, yeah I do so many lessons that it would be impossible for me to completely memorize everything I teach. So sometimes, especially if it is a long drawn out part that is improvised and takes a while to get through, I make myself a little cheat sheet and put it on the floor at my feet. Most songs I don't need to do that with but some I do. It can be anything I use really, sometimes its a little TAB I wrote out, a chord chart or maybe just a listing of the the song structure ie. intro, verse, chorus, interlude etc... Those little things can help me not lose my place in a 20 minute lesson and force me to start all over again. :)

the reverb does a lot to carry the tone. did you try a percussisve slap, or working the bass note off the chord?
