    I keep wondering what if 3 or more cars waiting to charge and then how long would it take for them to reach goa

    Honestly filling the tank with petrol not worrying about the availability of charging points gives a level of satisfaction

  • @nd6717
    @nd6717 2 года назад +440

    Still not convinced. By looking at this trip I think range isn't my big issue here, fast charging is. If we can get a full charge in under 30 mins range won't be an issue.

    • @himeshbhukker5689
      @himeshbhukker5689 2 года назад +48

      I think what's stopping them from providing 100 kw fast chargers is the cost the owners has to pay... It will shhot the value twice to thrice... And in a country like ours no one is gonna use them... As it's all about what's economical

    You guys took the Pune-Kolhapur route for Goa. It'd be fun to know how long the car will go on a single charge if you take the Chiplun route. A poor stretch between Nagothne and Khed could have been a test for ZS EV. Would have loved to witness how great regenerative braking works there!

    1300 for charging the MG and another 2k to charge yourself during the wait. Now the margin is thinner...hope charging infra improves fast also the car range

    • @sourabhpanse
      @sourabhpanse 2 года назад +46

      When charging prices hit sky high like today's petrol diesel prices, ppl will start crying again.
      And charging infra will be owned by big private players and not govt. So no control over prices. Take it if u want or leave. No option

    • @vinay19889
      @vinay19889 2 года назад +7

      So true!!! The premium of the electric car will nullify that margin as well...also electricity from home will cost depending on the units consumed

  • @aj3376
    @aj3376 2 года назад +36

    with my diesel car considering I travel with a speed of yours 80 to 100 I get avg 25km per liter and it cost me around only 2100 Rs for 570km... plus I don't have to stop and waste time in charging or eating food at every stop.. 1300 price is still more...in future charging price will get increase as well you will have to wait for other cars to get charged...

    I did Bangalore Pune Bangalore recently. The "Hello MG show me charging stations" is just a gimmick. Their navigation software is not updated since 2019. Apart from that, absolutely amazing car to drive. Very relaxing. The charging infrastructure needs to be updated. Most of the fast chargers are 25KW and have only one plug point. So if there's another EV ahead of you and he's targetting a full charge then you're actually spending 1.5 to 2 hours there. I think this is going to be the problem soon, unless they provide more chargers.

    How much time did the trip take ?
    I went to south goa in December and did Mumbai to Cavelossim in 9 1/2 hrs flat with just one stop for fuel and lunch.
    Total money spent of diesel was approx ₹5000
    We actually reached Goa by 4.00 pm and had enough time to enjoy the beach and sunset.
    Wondering if that’s possible in this ZS EV.

    Nice but short video. The actual cost per km comes to Rs.2.34 as per your figures which is more than double as claimed by MG, still good considering the cost of petrol today. The electricity charging cost should be standard across service providers and cheaper than what it is today for EV's to catch up. I am convinced by awaiting release of the 2022 version of ZS EV.

  • @sks4347
    @sks4347 2 года назад +14

    That 1,336/- of Charging cost against upwards of 3,500/- for a Diesel SUV equates to ~ 40-45% of costing for an EV. This doesn't seem a good VFM in an EV except the environmental impact. May be in the long run Hybrid power train should be a considerable choice for the mass market like India. But really a good video to show how a city EV can do longer range too.

    Thank you... I have been planning this for quite sometime now... less worried of the charge etc, more about my lack of interest in driving LOL, however, I have done only Jadavgarh, Srivardhan, Alibaug, Lonavla etc with my ZS EV and never felt it will be too difficult to do a Goa trip, only challenge is the lack of predictability of the highway chargers... last tie I went to Jadavgarh, I checked all the 3 charging stations in Khopoli and none of them were functional/operating. I didn't mind much as I had enough charge but imagine reaching Khopoli with 5% juice left hoping to charge it there... :(

    Other wise for long drive journey it always gives us a anxiety about charging points and time consuming

    Thanks for the very interesting report. I live here in Perth, Australia. I was wondering if the model you used has a spare tire. I'm asking because my relatives in the UK have a Nissan EV and they made the shocking experience this Xmas with a break down resulted by a wheel puncture. There was no emergency wheel on board and the device that should have helped to inflate the wheel did not work. Apparently Nissan designed the EV for weight reasons without a spare wheel. For me that would be a deal breaker.

    Only concern for me is, you'll plan for the trip but when you'll reach the place to charge then the charging station is not working for some reason. That is giving me jitters. Unless we have multiple options for charging I won't choose EV or won't recommend it. Saving money is important but you need assurance when you are travelling.

    Always wanted to do something like this. was planning to do chennai-bangalore or chennai pondy trip....one thing about the MG, it kept throwing both of you sideways quiet a bit....My diesel SUV doesn't move us around that much on high speeds and bad roads (some parts) on the highway. You could have also documented a bit more on overtaking and sudden deceleration as this is quiet common on our highways (especially with those slow moving trucks and unexpected lane hoggers like the autos, bikes (mopeds) around remote villages around the highways. Ad hoc journeys still feel like a dream on EVs as compared to our gas guzzlers, the confidence they bring in to the long journeys these ev makers have miles to go to bring that in to regular travelers.
    Wish you a Merry Christmas a pleasant stay and hope the New Year brings in more exciting content/experiments such as this .

    Absolutely fantastic review. I saw it once somewhere that the whole anxiety is about the range as there is limited charging points. We fail to realise the same as we see fuel stations regularly on highways. However once more charging stations are installed the anxiety hopefully will reduce. Does incline one to think about an electric car.

    EV Can be used as an extra car for limited traveling only, one main car should be at home for real travel and long journey especially for bloggers. Otherwise if u travel to countryside or rural areas of India the EV will be sitting useless. After EV becomes common, charging line will be very long on addition to charging time of hours. So do for now until range increase to minimum 1000kms all c 🎄an wait
