Watch their awesome videos, listen to their music and subscribe to their channels.
Thanks for the awesome lesson + hangout Mary!!
Good luck Ali... glad to see you doing different things... I thought it was only me who was a bit insane being multi directional medic😉
more volume needed get that diapragm moving! country road.
Wow, you really are a productivity guru, man a popular RUclips channel and playing guitar 🎸,you really implement what you preach.
I think Mary should start a series about giving RUclipsrs singing lessons
And invite John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes... etc. ;) I really would like to see (and hear, bviously) a lesson from John Mayer.
Wow, my music and productivity worlds collide! Been a fan of Ali's videos for a while.
He's not bad at all. And speaking as a singer myself, singing while playing as an instrument is WAY harder than just singing, so good job.
this wasnt the colab i was prepared for, but im sure glad its here :)
I'm surprised by the difference in only a couple of tips! At the beginning he was out of tune and all over the place and then already at 3:27 he was singing really well! Also let's just acknowledge that he was really open to improve and was really brave for putting himself out there.
I don't know the guy but for someone who isn't a singer by trade I would say his pitch was pretty neat. In the beginning he was sort of conversational on the lower notes (which can be heard as being out of tune) yet he was really hitting those higher notes well enough.
Really enjoyed this. As an American it gives such a kick to see two Brits singing a song about a small state in the US. Great job guys.
These breathing exercises for singing are just like yoga pranayama breath techniques! So lovely to see you teaching Ali something new!
nice. Love this chill vibes, hanging with Mary type feel in this video.
This is the collab I didn't know I needed, but it's great! 😁 I've been following you both for a while now!
'Country Roads' (along with 'Vincent') was one of the great tools how my ex learned English (native Chinese speaker). We spoke in length how words and melody, and delivery, and how they are heard, make one feel and think. And remember. We are are still friends - do not dwell.
This was a great smile to hear this, in so many ways. Ta, Mary. Well done!
Love watching you teach Ali. You are a really good teacher!!!
Great teaching Mary. I can't pat my head and rub my tummy at the same time ... my hat is off to anyone that can play guitar and sing at the same time 🤟😎🤟
Ali has a very nice natural voice and gets better when he gets into the heart of the tenor range. Breath, breath, breath.
John Be3navides: Mary you are so spread around. I still love your voice! Hope to hear more.
how is this comment 2 days old if video was posted 8seconds ago

Brilliant masterclass! Mary is the Teacher. Thank-q
Thanks Mary, it's great be reminded of the fundamentals every once in a while. I don't think anyone's ever the finished article as a singer. I discover new things about my voice every year. 🙂
Private vox lessons with Mary! Sooo jealous! Love the 🦢 swan analogy at 5:00 💛 Pefect!
He is surely a gem... wish u luck dear mary👍
Great video, I'm only 10 months into learning guitar but learning to sing and play at the same time is a big goal of mine. I'd love to see more videos like this from Mary
Great lesson! Always nice to have a refresher... thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
This was very enjoyable and Ali was very humble and willing to learn. Great stuff.
Yes, more singing and singing + playing guitar at the same time stuff please! That lesson was very educational.
LMAO at that thumbnail....
Mary: _"They used to be THIS BIG!!"_
Ali: _"yes."_
Damn.. he's got a great voice.. nice tune too :)
Great singing lesson. Ali has a really good voice!
Wow that was great love the music and the vibes
Wow, a British John Mayer! And to be honest, that video is so useful. Thanks, guys!
My two fav. RUclipsrs together...🤯🔥 Dunno you knew each, never expected this video😂 anyways amazing video❤️.
Great comment about the singing AND playing guitar. I found early on that when I started learning it was frustrating to be failing on both. Curious as to how to figure out your vocal ‘register’. Friends and family always comment that I sing very high, but if I try an octave lower I really struggle with the lower parts. Beginning to feel that I’m in between standard ranges.
He is Marvelous
Thank you so much for this video!! I love the thought of thinking of smiling and how it keeps you from going flat. Fantastic!! Will try this technique.
He has a great voice, nice timbre
Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve been working on improving my singing lately and the advice you gave was very helpful. I’d love to see you do more videos on the subject.
Always a good time for my first taste of a voice lesson. I like this style of video
Woah two creators that I never would’ve expected!!
Very formal and beneficial video Mary. Props 👍 great work
Splendid as always Mary : D Thanks for sharing this lesson with us ( :
One Love!
Golden content!!❤❤🙇🏻♂️✨
Wow!
I could actually hear the tips go through to improve.... even if sustainability became a focus-issue!
I(A) see(C) brilliant coaching!
Great video. Need more like this. Was only missing a closing duet.
The collab i never knew i needed
and YES to more singing content! 🤩👍🏼
I have been subscribed to both for a while. Great video!
Mary/Ali, There is a lot of space missing in Ali's version of John Denver's Country Roads.... There is a pace that is missing which will help you a ton with the breathing issues you demonstrated. You are racing through it and it needs a much slower pace. Try a couple James Taylor songs as they are pitched a little lower. Try "Rock a Bye, Sweet Baby James" or How sweet it is, to be loved by you". Keep going, you can do it. Secret tip. Try singing in a corner so you can hear yourself really well. It will help your pitch a ton.
Yes please to more singing lessons Mary!
This is great! I had been hoping for a singing video. Your guitar videos are terrific, but you also are an accomplished singer, and I have often wondered how you might teach voice.
If he works on his mixed voice when he goes up to those higher notes instead of flipping to falsetto he’d be fantastic!
I like the up and down volume in your singing
Learned a lot from this video and would love more singing while playing guitar content!
Hello Mary, very interesting video. All the material you put into this helps me to understand many years of voice education. I’d appreciate to get more on voice /singing technic. Thanks for your sharing experience!
Mary - who knew you had singing lesson skills too!
damn, the second attempt was already so much better with the posture and conscious breathing.
Very interesting ! 🙏
The singing lesson was one thing. But lending your >3K acoustic to the guest while playing the 200$ one... now that is true generosity.
Would love more singing content for sure!
A great video that has tempted me to take singing lessons. I’ve always wanted to sing, but have always felt my voice is too weak. Adding one more thing to my list of things to learn/improve is also daunting. Making time to practice guitar, record RUclips videos, learn about video lighting, and then adding singing lessons might just break me. ;)
But I loved your tips and wouldn’t mind seeing more videos like this. Cheers!
Love it, when half way through Country Roads, Mary says “this is fun”!❤️☘️
Is that your Martin guitar, Mary?
A useful video that reminded my about several things, not least, don't forget to breath. And, breathing while singing starts by pushing your stomach out, to get what my voice coach from 25 years ago used to call a 'low' breath. Then, singing while playing guitar is a whole other thing to either singing or playing or playing guitar, but they are strangely complementary when you get into the groove. Mary is dead right when she advises to start with singing a relatively simple melody with a relatively simple accompaniment on guitar to learn what you are trying to achieve. Later, you can increase the complexity of one or the other in smallish steps to get to where you want to go, musically!
I'd love to see a whole series on vocal lessons/tips
Very good Job ! ... both of you ... The only thing I would add is to learn the comfortable travel of the Diaphragm ...
The best way to relax this muscle so you are not over extending (pulling down) or over blowing (pushing out) is of course "Vowel practice" ...
Those singers who seem to sing long notes for hours without ever taking a breath keep their Diaphragm moving with constant light pressure ...
Just like the guitarist or pianist who rarely looks at their fingers and hands the Vocal performer has created breath technique that does it's thing on auto-pilot ...
Great tips!! I think a bit more repetition of the chorus where he was running out of breath might have gotten him more comfortable breathing through that part of the song. For someone basically having fun, he sounded pretty good, even with the breathing and continuity issues.
Yes, more please Mary :)
Awesome!! ..really helped me out!!Cheers!;-)!
Idk maybe its just me but I actually liked how he sounded when the video started a lot more.
I thought Ali had a voice way better than I could ever have at the start, let alone the end!
Great video. More like this would be a great change from the usual vocal coach videos. I'm a beginner really and I think huge breaths are required and try to reduce or at least control breathiness, I think of it as "hardening" almost when you start to think you are whining but they call it fold closure I think.
Cool video. I've sucked at singing for a great many years. It's such a delicate thing to grasp. Guitar can be learned with practice, but it is damn hard to learn to be a decent singer. Some have it from birth and I tend to leave the singing to them.
liked this, thanks Ali, thanks Mary, now can you teach me to paint with laser beams:)
Great idea👍
Hi MoE - You really know your stuff lady!😁❤️ I am here for your teachings! I love you! 🦁💋⭐️🙏🕊🦋Lw🐺
Thanks so much for sharing this very useful video. Yes, please I'd love to see more videos with focus on vocal/singing techniques. The tips you gave on breathing and that it's all about creating some quality to the tone, is something to be aware of and cannot be repeated too many times. Thanks :-) And I followed your link to subscribe to Nebula/Curiosity. It seems to store a lot of quality documentaries. Thanks for the heads up on that and the sign up rebate. Cheers from Norway, Thor 🙂
My subscriptions colliding! Yass
Hey Big Spender!
Cool video, you make a great teacher as well as an awesome musician and content creator. Couldn't find the longer video on Nebula yet, though, is that still coming?
I would love to learn more about singing. I can‘t sing one single note and it would be great to learn from you . Something like a beginners lesson ihr so . Greatings from germany
I am a beginner at guitar and cant sing. But i always try to sing while learn a song, because it force me to complete a song instead of opening riff, and learn the transition. Great lesson.
And think what you sing is very important for me too
One advice I would give to Ali at this stage is for him to imagine that he is singing *to* someone, and not just to himself. A small or large imaginary crowd to perform to for example.
That can quite quickly change the mental process and technique at the same time. At the very least open up his sound and you can work on breathing from there.
Please more singing videos!!! 🙏🙏
More singing content is definitely appreciated. I always wonder why you don't talk more about it.
Yep for more singin' stuff.
👋
Yeah more singing content pls
Brilliantly helpful! What do you recommend for improving pitch in singing?
I want Mary to give me a vocal lesson. I could really use it.
His higher kinda belty notes were quite nice, I don't really like how they turned into falsetto when you asked him to level the dynamics. I would rather use more support and projection in the lower register so the high notes wouldn't pop out so much.
Copper Bottomed Coffe Pot : D
some people roasted Ali for his singing but dude you re like really good dunno whats wrong with those people lol
Moar singing content pls! Great Vid!
Ok, now I am subscribed to Ali...RUclips pusher!
See you are playing the Orangewood :( Just sold mine cuz I got a Taylor...
How come we dont see more of the beach?
Thank you. --BAK-
Let me go listen to her music...
Feeling pretty weird to share this..let me try!
You know what I want to say Mary? Like can I reserve myself for any future guitar giveaway signed... Great video
Oi eu sou o Pedro tenho15 anos sou de Monjolinhos MG Brasil. Você poderia colocar uma opção de legendas em português e outras línguas em seus curso e videos do yt porque é não falo inglês
More singing lessons
🤚more singing content? Yes ma’am.
So brave to crack in public. I admire it. Me, I go silent rather than risk it. :(
I tried the nasal thing … can you really sing a song with a closed nose?
:)
At 5:40 the mention of diaphragm. Your suggestion of same volume has technical merit it drains humanity abd cool by restraing the emotional pain. You yutube gods have turned being plastic into a lower art form.
