learning how to be in solitude

to truly be self-sufficient and at peace with ourselves, we must be able to endure boredom and aloneness.
i went on a 3 day, 15 mile solo backpacking trip in the mountains of the angeles national forest. i started at eaton saddle trailhead and traversed through the mueller tunnel, mt. lowe's peak, mt. lowe trail camp, and finally arrived at idlehour trail camp. it makes me so happy to have discovered a place like idlehour. this earth is so beautiful! so so beautiful.
in my shift from childhood to adulthood, the most integral, important thing i have learned (and am still learning) is the ability to be alone. the past few months of my life have felt very pivotal for the relationship i have with myself. i have been learning to value myself outside of the gaze of other people! and i feel so free! i think in part it has to do with my distance from instagram.
this time alone in the forest has given me such clarity in what i want to do in this life. i want to make things. many things. awesome things. i want to go on long journeys into beautiful pockets of land. i want to give back to the earth and form a deeper relationship with it. i want to take care of my body! i want a strong body! our bodies are the root at which we reach out into the world. i want to be completely in tune. i want to cultivate a collection of beautiful things and a community of kind people.

hey it always makes me happy to see u upload! i rmbr watching ur very first ucla vlog back when i was in high school and now im finishing my 2nd yr at ucla myself :) so cool to see you finding yourself, and although im finding a community here that i love i feel like i don't always vibe with the greater LA culture, and ur videos are a reminder that i can stay honest with myself and be my own person in spite of that.
