What Did I Do? - 10" Deco Mesh Curly Loop Wreath Experiment - Wreath DIY
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 авг 2024
- Hello everyone,
Today in my studio I was in an experimental mood. I wanted to try the 10" deco mesh using the curly loop method AND try adding different materials, like this yarn, to make a multi-materials wreath.
I'm on the fence with this wreath, as I love the colours and the loop curls, but I'm not sure if I like the outcome of the wreath...And honestly, I wasn't going to post this video. BUT, after some discussions with another YTer, she convinced me to upload it and let you all decide what you like about, what you would change, or maybe not change. I am open to start a discussion on how this wreath could be better, or if you like it, or love it, or dislike it...LOL....Let me know in the comments down below.

I like how it turned out.
Thecólorb is beaútiiful
This would be adorable in a little girl’s room with a doll attached. Especially a little ballerina doll.
I was thinking exactly the same thing!
Hi Marie, yes, this does give off ballerina vibes indeed. Great suggestion!!! 😊😊😊
I was thinking same!! Definitely looks like a tutu!
How about a pair of ballet slippers?
I love it❤
Hi Dave,, I'm new to wreath making. I started a few months ago kicking around the idea. One of your videos was the first video I watched and I immediately subscribed. I replayed that video a few times before actually trying. I then binge watched many of your videos. I will admit, I have subscribed to others to, but I always find myself coming back to your channel for ideas. Kind of like a trusted friend 🙂 You're so calm and just go with the flow. Keep stepping out of the box, it's how we learn what works and what doesn't. I'm looking forward to more of your videos!
Hi Denise. I'm so glad you are taking the first steps to becoming a wreath maker. YAY!!! Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate them. 😊😊😊
I love this wreath that was very creative
I love it Dave! The colors and textures are lovely! You motivate me! I’m off to “experiment “. I love your vulnerability and your so brave to share it.
Hi Marcy, have fun experimenting!!! YAY!!! HAHA. Thank you so so much for your comment and kind words. 😊😊😊
Maybe add a My Little Pony somehow or a plushie unicorn with rainbow mane & tail… I can’t decide if that would take it to too much or if that would just be fussy…😊
Firstly, you chose my favorite color, purple! And if weren’t for experimenting, we’d never have any beautiful things. It’s all about prototypes. I love how you teach, so clearly, every step of the way. You always choose the prettiest colors, matching them so well with other colors. You have a great eye for colors, so tasteful. The fun part now is taking what you’ve made and creating another result. I loved the crimping as well, good idea. You’re a talented teacher, and you teach us that not everything goes as well as you plan, but give us the building blocks to push on to learn more.
Hi Gizmo, thank you so much and I totally agree with what you said...building blocks are so important for our advancement, learning and progress of creating things. One step closer to something new. Thanks so much. 😊
Hi Dave! Don’t be on the fence about this wreath, it’s awesome! Great job as always, thank you!
❤❤the combo of yarn and mesh is beautiful. Thanks for your hard work
Hi Dave, I so get not being sure about stepping out and trying something new and different. You did successfully pull it all together. ! Good one!
Thank you Dave for sharing this video with us, this is showing us to be adventurous and think outside the box! These colours are stunning and it will be great for a little babies room😊
Hi Nancy, thank you so much and I totally agree with you, this would be perfect in a baby's room. 😊😊😊
I think it's beautiful. The colors are fabulous. I would try putting some purple ribbon. It's worth a try. You are so talented. Can't wait for the next tutorial. If you do something different to the wreath maybe you could share it. I would love to see it. Have a beautiful day.🌞🌞🍉🍓🍒♥️
Thank you so much Barbara. I like the idea of the purple ribbon, totally worth the try. 😊😊😊
Fantastic I'm going to use this method for my bumblebee wreath thanks again Dave.
Totally gorgeous 😍 I have chunky yarn from hobby lobby and I am so gonna make one. 😊❤
I absolutely love this new take on a mesh wreath!!! As a fellow crafter I totally appreciate this!!!!!
Happy Sunday Dave I am loving 🥰 this beautiful wreath love the ribbon and colors great job
Hi Liz, Happy Sunday to you as well. Thank you so much. 😊
I love this wreath!! The color’s are beautiful & it turned out so pretty!!
Oddly enough for the love of creativity I like this wreath. Love the colors… Thank you for sharing
Thank you so so much. 😊😊😊
It is beautiful, I love the mesh colors and yarn texture. I really like the way you talk yourself through the process and showing it is okay to challenge yourself. I like the way you crinkled the ribbon ends. I almost think I would like the ribbon all one color, but wouldn’t know until I tried it 😊👏🏻💗🌟 It is such a fun wreath and you make it fun, inspiring and creative, thank you 💗👏🏻💗👏🏻💗👏🏻💗👏🏻💗👏🏻
I love all the different ideas you always have I'm very new at this keep up the great job.
Thank you! 😊
I am loving it so glad you changed the bow location much better. Thank you
Thank you so much Rosalind. 😊
Oh how fun Dave, I love mixing mediums together and your wreath came out super fun using those gorgeous summer colors. 😉👌
Thanks so much Nadia!!!! xoxo
Yes I like it. A very interesting idea using the chunky yarn.I love the crimping and curling of the ribbon too - must have a go at that. I must admit I find it difficult working with deco mesh but this method looks easier, - must have a go at that too. Thank you Dave for the inspirations.
Colors are good and I know that is different and I will be trying it. Thank you for your idea.
Thank you so much Maria. Have a great time making your wreath. 😊
Another awesome wreath! I love the colors and the mix of texture.
Thank you so much Roxanna. 😊
I love the way it turned out, I like the bow where it is.
A beautiful wreath! I love the colors
Love it, Works for all my 10 inch that would just go to waste. Thank You
Dave, I really like your presentation style by always giving detailed basic instructions for materials used and ways to cut, hold, bundle, twist tie, attach, etc. with the mesh, ribbon, and yarn!!! I appreciate how you fast forward repetitive steps to keep the video short and engaging👍🏼Also, I like hearing your thought process of what you are doing and how you share your creative arranging ideas as you go. You are a great artistic and creative instructor for all of us who are trying to learn new techniques and skills to actually make something that looks like something that you would want to display or give as a gift 💝
Thank you so so much Carol for the amazingly kind comment. I appreciate it so much. 😊😊😊
I love watching your videos Dave. You’re very talented and I missed you, but everyone deserves a little break. Don’t change anything
Very unusual but eye catching. Love it.
I love this wreath. Purple is my favorite color and you did an amazing job. The placement of the bow was perfect. Im going to try it too 😊
Thank you so much Darlene. Have fun wreath making 😊😊😊
I also love it. I'd like to try it with one less section of mesh replaced with yarn and a bow with shorter tails. I love love love that you shared this with us. Its nice to see you toy around with ideas. Its real . You sur are the greatest and i adore watching you!! ❤
Welcome back. Perfect wreath. Beautiful.
Thank you Rose. 😊😊😊
Unique and really pretty!!! Way to go Dave!!
Thank you Judy. 😊
Love it. I love to add yarn too when i get the chance. Nice to see something different too. Best wishes from the UK. X
Thank you so much Karen. 😊
Hi Dave, I love the wreath and colors are my favorite. The bow is pretty but to me it's too long and I'd like to see more of the yarn. I love your tutorials and calm patients showing how to create and think out of the box.
Thank you so much Mary. 😊😊😊
Hi Dave 👋 welcome back. I love the mesh, the colors are very pretty. The bow is great with the mesh. Love the crimps in the bow tails. Here it goes……. but not the yarn with it. It kinda sit alone. The colors in the mesh and the colors in the bow makes a beautiful wreath all by itself. 😊😊
I love the wreath the way it is. Love the colors you put on it too.
Thank you so much Sara. 😊
Love this idea I'm going to make a bumblebee wreath with this idea thanks again I love all your ideas.
I love it! I made something very similar for Easter. I love the bow! Great work Dave. I love all your videos and I'm always watching for inspiration.
I agree with Marie. When I saw the finished wreath I had a feeling of a cozy bedroom. Maybe the colors or I think it is the yarn. But it is very pretty! And welcome back!
Thank you so much Barb. 😊
The wreath turned out great. The ribbon looks better how you finally put it so you can see the yarn. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your week 😎
Thank you! 😊
Its beautiful. Love the colors
Thank you so much Pam. 😊
Beautiful! I love it Dave!!
Thank you so much Eunice. 😊
I like it the way it is. I'm going to copy it and make a wider yarn section to see if the bow balances it better, Thanks for the video and experiment.
It’s beautiful!!
I'm new at making wreaths you are one my wreath making idols. I love the wreath, looks great
Thank you so much Janisha. 😊
I love this wreath Dave I think it’s a cutesy elegant wreath Great Job!!!
Thank you so much Patricia. 😊
I think you did a terrific job! I love the colors and where you placed the bow. Great job!
Welcome back, Dave! Colors are great!! ❤❤ I think less decomesh and more yarn perhaps would balance the wreath; maybe use a loop yarn which gives more of a fluff when wound around the wreath frame which would balance out the fluff of the mesh. I think the crimped tails are not so great. Would like to see a softer drape on the ribbon tails. Just my opinion. Pretty darn good for something very different. 👌😊😊
Thank you so much PK. Great suggestions about less mesh, and I totally agree with you. 😊😊😊
Love it, the color combination you can come up with would be fantastic 😊😊
Thank you so much Rebecca 😊😊😊
Always inspiring when someone steps outside the box 😊
Thank you so so much Candice. 😊😊😊
Dave , you give me the courage to try deco mesh . I've seen deco mesh for years and never could get myself to use it till I watched your videos. THANK YOU ❤
Hi there, I'm so happy to hear that you tried deco mesh!!! That is amazing. I hope you had tons of fun making your wreath, I remember my first wreath with deco mesh....scary, but so rewarding in the end. I hope that is how you felt too. Happy wreath making and take care.
It's very unique. I'm like you Dave....on the fence. BTW, I love your laugh. Much love from Texas ❤🤠
Hello Sandy from Texas!!! 😊 Thank you so much. Yes, on the fence indeed. HAHA. Take care and have a good day. 😊
I love your wreath. I might use different colors, but the style is wonderful..
Luv this and the colors and love the way you did the bow with krinkles n kurls 🩵💜
It’s cute. I like it. Very creative Dave.
Thank you so much. 😊😊😊
I love the colors. The jackal mesh looks like a tutoo 2 tutoo. And I love the way you do your bows.
Love you, Dave. The yarn is good, the mesh is good, but.... You are right. It looks like it needs something. Not a lot of something, but a focal point. Not big, but eye catching! We're relying on you to finish the wreath. You have been the teacher, the motivator for us. Now we are thinking. May be a butterfly.
Thanks. Judy in PA.
Hi Judy, thanks so much. Yes, it was definitely lacking something and that butterfly was such a great idea you had. Take care. 😊😊😊
Love the colors!! I was holding my breath with the first placement of the bow. BUT, as soon as you changed it to show more of the yarn, I yelled YES!!!!! If i were to "test" something different on this beautiful wreath, I'd forego the tails altogether. ❤
I like it the way it is. Beautiful colours.
😊😊😊
I like it! It’s different and refreshing.
Thank you so much Cindy. 😊
Looks Great, you are so talented!!!
Thank you so much. 😊
Love the colours.
I think it’s the textures of the materials that are fighting each other
Well done creativity, always great to watch
Take care 🇨🇦❤️
Hi Sue, yes, that is a great little bit of information that I didn't think about...thanks so much to opening up my mind about the textures. 😊
So glad to see you back! I love the color of the decomesh. I couldn't stop seeing the mesh as hair, so I kept imagining creating a face or something in the middle and having it in a little girls room.
😂
Hi there, what a great and fantastic suggestion...you were thinking outside the box and I love it. Thanks so much. 😊
Hi Dave, welcome back! I love this wreath idea. I would only use two curls to make it less full so that the yarn could show up better. I also would use a mid color purple gingham ribbon instead of the blue. I love the crimped ribbon best. I think that the curled ribbon is a little distracting. But all in all this is a wonderful idea for a wreath and I will definitely make one soon! Thanks for thinking out of the box! It's great to see how the deco mesh and the yarn work together! Bravo.
Hi there, thanks so much, it's good to be back. And what great suggestions!!! Thanks SO much!!! 😊
Very nice wreath Dave. Love it, I might put a small sign on it but otherwise its really beautiful 😍
Hi there, yes, a small sign would be a great addition. 😊😊😊
Welcome Back Dave! Love these colors! Maybe less deco mesh or shorter mesh. I just made a yarn wreath, weaving through the wreath form. I think that would also look nice
Hi there, yes, totally agree about the shorter mesh. I think that would be nicer. Thanks so much. 😊
I love this wreath just the way it is, Dave! I totally understand how you feel about it because I have been there with some projects too!
Thank you so much Mary. Glad to know I am not alone. 😊
@@DavesWreaths you’re welcome Dave! We have a lot in common 😊
I just love your videos!
You’re so talented and I love your voice
You are my BFF (in my head) when I just want to feel soothed and relaxed😉
Hi Denise, thank you so so much. I appreciate your kind words. 😊😊😊
Absolutely love it. I would add a sign for a genger reveal party!!!
YES!!! I LOVEIT Dave. I love your videos and your laugh is so infectious. Always puts me in a good mood. I am going to make this for my step nieces< bedroom door! Twin girls on the way in 2 weeks:)
Hi Linda, thank you so much and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and wreath. YAY for making this for your step niece's bedroom door. Hope you have fun wreath making. 😊
Once you curled the bow tails it just came to life. Not sure though if mixing the crimping and rolling the tails together had me hesitate a bit. You definitely have a creative gift. Thank-you for sharing.
Hi Dave. I am intrigued by your creation! The colors are stunning and make my eyes very happy. I think you have definitely gone “out of the box” with this one - and in an amazing way. As an artist you take risks. I love the curly tails on the bow, but maybe the crimped ones are a little distracting. I really love your creative genius, so let’s call this one a WINNER!!! ❤😊
Hi Lori, thank you so much for calling this one a winner. I appreciate it. Yes, I totally agree with you, those crinkled tails were a bit distracting and totally thru me off with this wreath. LOL. Thanks so much.
It came out beautiful 😍
Thank you so much 😊
Love it 😍
I really like this. You did good.
Thank you so much. 😊
I love watching your videos. I have learned so much from them. I think this wreath is absolutely beautiful the way it is. With those colors I would think that it would be great for a baby shower, just add some baby bottles, diaper pins and rattles. Thank you for the great videos and teaching.
Hi Dave, just wanted to let you know that I think your new wreath looks great.
Hi Laura, thank you so so much. 😊😊😊
Beautiful love it
It's Beautiful the way it is😍
😊😊😊
I love it, I want to try it.
I think I’d like the bow and yarn on the right side. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you so much for watching and for your idea. 😊
That’s adorable!
Thank you Cheryl. 😊
I love how it turned out❤It’s so fun with the textures. I would add a white wooden letter or sign.
Thank you so much Shantell, that is a great idea!!!
Daveeee... I'm glad you are back! I see this in a little girl's room or a baby shower. Would be so fun! The only thing that caught my eye was the crimping. I think if you curled that one also because the curl looks great. But I'm no expert, just a huge fan of your different styles, and you did it again. Thanks for sharing 💞
Hi there, thank you so much for a great and wonderful comment. I totally agree with your suggestion about the crimping. I think I just panicked a bit and just overdid it with the crimping. HAHA. I didn't know what to do or how to change it or make it better. So I just did everything....haha. Thanks so much for your comment and have a great one. 😊
@Dave's Wreaths and Things LOL, you're the best. And don't overthink it. You always give great instructions, come up with unique things, and are just a joy to watch. I appreciate you for sharing your talents with us. Just keep being you. Because that's what I'm here for. Thanks for responding. Have a blessed day and week to come. Big hugs. I'm ready for your next video already, lol 😆
HI DAVE! HOPE YOU ARE WELL! LOVE THESE COLORS TOGETHER BUT THE BLUE LOOKS MORE PURPLE TO ME WHICH I LOVED ANYWAYS, IM NOT A FAN OF THE HALF BOWS SO I WOULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT IT BUT I LOVED HOW YOU EXPERIMENTED WITH WHAT YOU HAD .ITS ALWAYS FUN, THATS WHAT CRAFTING IS ALL ABOUT!
Hi Kelley, thank you so much and I agree with you on that. And yes, crafting is made fun by us experimenting and trying new things. YAY!!! 😊😊😊
Beautiful good job 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😀😀
Thank you so much Brenda. 😊😊😊
I like it! Pretty!
Thank you 😊
Glad to see you again Dave. We missed you. I don't know how crazy I am about that wreath. I kind of like the idea of a half and half but I don't know what to do with it afterwards. Maybe some florals somewhere? Maybe have it on the side and some florals in the yarn? I just don't know but I think you're on to something.
Thanks so much, it's great to be back. I agree with you as I'm not too crazy about this wreath as well...but wanted to get all of your opinions and suggestions to see how to improve it. I love the idea of it, I think the execution lacked. Thanks again. 😊
I love it ❤ just the way it is
Thank you so much. 😊
Love it!
Omg i love this wreath purple is my favorite color its beautiful 😊
I am so glad you liked the wreath. 😊😊😊
Dave, I liked what you did. I agree on a little doll would be good in the space. Not crazy about the different colors in the bow. It's very colorful as is already. I might have gone with 2 colors. ❤😊
Hi Judy, I agree with you on the colours of the bow. I think I just overdid it with the bow. LOL. Thanks so much and have a great day. 😊😊😊
I ❤ the crimped tails. Something different. Very pretty 😍 💕
Thank you! 😊
This is my very first viewing of ANY of your videos, so I don’t feel much like commenting on ON THIS CREATION. But I have subscribed because of how you explain every step so well. I look forward to viewing more videos. BTW, I’ve never made a mesh wreath.
Hi Judy, you are allowed to comment whenever and whatever you like here on my channel. I always like chatting with fellow crafters. Thank you so much for watching and for subscribing to my channel. I hope you enjoy my little corner of RUclips. 😊
First, I think you are by far the best instructor I have seen. You are so clear and concise. Your voice is perfect. As far as the wreath goes, I'm no expert, but I am on the fence with you. I absolutely love the colors and each piece on it's own. If I were making it, I would perhaps add a dragonfly or a small grouping of flowers on the yarn section. But I do love it either way. Thank you
Hi Leslie, thank you so much for watching and for your amazing comment. I'm so glad you enjoy my teaching style. I agree with you wholeheartedly on your ideas for this wreath. Love the dragonfly idea too!!! Thanks!!! 😊😊😊
Dave, I love the colors and the materials that you used. I have a problem with the placement of the bow. However, I'm not sure where I would place it either. 🤔😊
I like this a lot, bow looks way better at the bottom right. Colors are pretty.
Love the colors! I like your final placement of the bow. Think I might want to add some of that ribbon to the mesh and find some kind of embellishment to place above the bow on the yarn -- not hiding the yarn. I like your experiment -- inspires us viewers to try something a little different. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi there, thank you so much and I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed my little experiments. Have a good one.
Like the color combinations Dave. I'm not feeling the bow where it is or maybe it needs something above it. Thanks for being willing to show your adventures. Love your videos and presentations.
Thank you so much Michele. I agree, the bow is the problem I think. LOL. Need to try something different. Thanks for your comment. 😊😊😊
