I didn't respond to the noise yesterday, without realising. Your advice must be rubbing off on me, Ryan. My 10 year old son started a new level of swimming with a new teacher and there was a lot of fear of the unknown even though we talked about it prior. We got to the pool and he refused to get changed. I told him "you can cause a scene if you want but I'm going to go over here and watch the class." Guess what, he got changed and got in the pool without complaint! He said at the end of the class "that class was actually a lot less stressful than I thought it would be." Great outcome!

I think as parents we have swung the pendulum too far with listening to our children's feelings, because so many of us were told to be quiet, keep it to ourselves, and get it together. Now we have the opposite problem of inserting meaning into pretty meaningless complaints.

Thanks for the tips. Do you have any ideas for ADHD kids that have a really hard time with “losing” or “not winning” whether it be games or sports.

my mom watches you and she’s always yelling at me. She’s always saying, “do what adhd dude says” and i get annoyed. She acts like I have a stupid mental illness. she has to watch a phyciatarist to appeal herself. Please make a video saying “stop yelling at your child and comfort them” especially for parents.
