Life has been VERY busy over these past 7+ months, but don't worry, I'm back! This series will follow my 2023 Broke to Built entry. Enjoy!
Honda is re making the cr500 2 stroke
@@A.shetler72really ?
@@JanHarmSteenkamp yea look it up
@@A.shetler72 no they aren’t
@@newman3059 yea they are it’s called the cr500af look it up and know what your talking about before you talk shit
The man, the myth, the legend has returned! Make some more flipping videos bro, they're a lot of fun to watch.
Haha I have returned! Thank you for the support!
Been waiting for an upload!!
Me too! lol
Glad to see your back making videos! Your content doesn’t compare to others with these series!
I really appreciate that. Thank you!!!
First
Thank god we got another video. Its only been a few months. Still glad though. Thanks man
Few months...? More like 7 months! haha
Finally, after 7 months!
I know!!!! It's been too long
@@MattBerger02 when’s the next video coming out?
It would have modern suspension and fuel injection like the KTM bikes. I have a 1995 CR250 that is totally restored. It is on my channel. I love riding it.
Love those 90's CR's.... yours looks awesome!
@@MattBerger02 thanks! It was my first restore. I have learned a lot since then and now I am zinc plating parts. I am tried to find a white chain guide. Min broke while riding last weekend. I guess it was old and brittle.
NOOOOOO!!! got to the end of the video and realized that was it. Post that part two soon man
I am working as hard as I can to get part 2 out there... just need to do a lot of work on the bike first lol!
Hey man I gotta say your like Chrisfix of the bike world. Compared by time and effort put into videography and information shared. Also making it easier to understand. I like where you are going with your channel. Ps if you start making bikes look this easy to work on I might need to buy another one just so I can do the same but take 2x as long.
That is a HUGE complement. Thank you!
@@MattBerger02 No worries mate keep doing what your doing man!
If you want any ideas for the build I do recommend that you check on the vital Mx forum the build of Mr Blackdiamond for his 03 cr250 and Kdubsteezy’s build also.
Hey i have a 1997 suzuki rm 250 do you know of any places that might have graphics for my bike
You got lucky you didnt but futur reference the sledge does start bending the swingarm....I learned the hardway 😂😂😂
how do you find parts on older bikes, I been looking for a engine rebuild kit for my 2010 husqvarna txc 250, it's crazy how I can't find anything
My best go to motorcross rebuilder on here - P.S they are one TWO fives , not one TWENTY fives - from a brit!!😁😁
Cool a Honda build, looking forward to it. I am starting to rebuild mine again too. The motor is already done on it at least. New subscriber!
That’s Not Exactly what a 2023 would Look like,& that’s Not a 2023
Niceeee
Hey Matt I have a 2001 Honda cr 125 and I am starting a build can you give me a part number or website I can find a restyle kit for it?
🔥
great job bro I love watching your videos keep going they are so entertaining.
About time! Hope you keep posting more frequently
That's the plan!
Heyoooo! Let’s go! Welcome back! Currently redoing a 1989 LT80 for my daughter for Christmas. And did you get married since your last vid post? Congrats! 🎉
Yes! I am a married man to the love of my life. Thank you and good luck with your LT80. Your daughter is going to love it!
Missed ur videos man
Thanks for the support!
Been a minute since you posted anything! Happy to get that noti. I ain’t posted in ages either, parts are just so hard to come by in the uk. Wish I started with a clapped out bike for cheap so I had all the parts but they don’t come up. Can’t wait to see your build 👊🏼
Life gets busy, but I am glad to be back! I can't imagine trying to source some of these parts in the UK... must be rough! Thanks man!
Ho Lee Shit he is back
Yes I am!
The radiators arnt wrong they are aftermarket i have a set on my sand bike they cool way better than oem
Nice love two strokes they’re not dead with Gas Gas KTM Husky now oil injection and street legal!
You are right, not dead at all!!!
Matt, just a tip for your next Honda CR (2002-2007) project. There is a newly released Polisport Restyle for this model that looks like 2022 CRF :)
Thank you for the tip! I'm going to actually be going with the 2023 CRF TX race kit on this one.
So glad ur back Matt! Your videos have inspired me to flip bikes too! Btw I’m also entering broke to built this year. Good luck!
Good luck to you as well! Can't wait to see your build.
I built a sick 2020 factory edition replica with a 03 cr250 came out so good.
Do you have an Instagram? I'd love to see it!
This channel deserves way more views!
Best bike build vids on the “Chube”
Keep up the awesome work and narration Matt.
You the man Kevin. That's for the kind words, it really means a lot and helps me stay motivated!
HEy i am just curious, do you live nearby rocky mountain atv mc? i live about 20 minutes away :)
I do not. I wish!
Hey mighty boss works 100x better than simple green, I don’t even have to use a brush sometimes to cut through grease
Thanks for the tip!
Where tf were you? I had to watch all your previous vids to get some satisfaction...
Getting married!!! Hahaha
Hope you get your account back!
glad you're back dude, been missing your video's and builds.
Glad to be back.
Looking forward to this build! You always do great work on these heaps.
Thank you Mark!
Is that a 1/2" Ryobi One Plus impact driver? I've been thinking about getting one for bike maintenance. Worth it?
They are amazing! I use both the larger 1/2 impact and the smaller 3/8 driver. Between my dad and I, we've owned Ryobi tools for 20+ years and always been extremely happy with them. 10/10 recommend!
@@MattBerger02 great to know, thank you!
Looking forward to more on the “smoker” project. Brings back so painful memories of my own nightmare bolt and pivot removals. Ha ha! It’s like nobody knows what grease or anti -seize is and maintenance is pressure washing the bearings and using a adjustable wrench or SAE sockets on a metric bike.
I thought the notification had a glitched name 😂. So cool to see you making vids again 🔥
No glitch! I swear!
hey i was wondering how we could be able to purchase the bikes you build and also if we already had a bike will you be able to build and clanks your price
Unfortunately I do not work on other people's bikes, I've got too many of my own! Lol. I sell all my bikes locally in Ohio
I love this stuff so much. Missed your videos.
I missed them too! Thanks!
Been looking forward to this build for a while !! can't wait to see what you transform this into!
I've been looking forward to this build too! lol! Thanks Grant.
You literally are my absolute favorite youtuber, you've inspired me to rebuild my kx125 this winter! Keep it up dude!!
Glad to see your back! Looking good so far! 😎
Thank you! It's good to be back
About time you came Brodie finally😅
Haha I know!!
i love the look i have a 2000 rm 12 and i cant make it look new so bummed
2001+ for the restyle! 1 year off! lol
Keep the build going love watching these
Thanks for the support!
finally an upload please don't leave us like that again
I promise not to! HAHA
#bringback2strokes
My personal recommendations because I did my own build in an 02 and she’s a beauty.
1st let’s get to the frame getting all the scratches off first and then cleaning, if you check the builds that I mentioned you can make a custom bracket to relocate all the electronics to the center of the bike so that way you can cut off the brackets on the left spar of the frame giving the bike a cleaner look also mass centralization, also with the frame you can use 2015 crf450 footpegs and brackets,
2nd let’s talk about important stuff that is no longer available for this bike, the CDI rubber holder my god that thing is rare to find on eBay please treat yours like a newborn because that old rubber will break really easy, the Servo motor also it’s not longer available new so take your time and disassemble yours clean everything, check the plastic gears and regrease them and seal the servo cases with silicon if you can so that way will last forever, if the actual electric motor is corroded an crusty it’s not a problem you can upgrade to a mabuchi electric 15$ motor on eBay and put it into the servo (there’s some modded needed between the old motor and the new one), also the wiring harness I highly recommend to remove all the old tape clean all the wires and connectors and then retape and reseal all the wires.
3rd part let’s talk engine wise so first off the tranny make sure that it has all the gear liners and that they are in the correct order(sizes are different) now with the crankshaft use the 05-07 crank it has a way better design and will last longer, only use OEM bearings on the engine please, use the 05-07 cylinder head gasket that is .010 thinner than the stock one and it will help with the excessive squish gap that the 3rd gen allu cr250 suffer on the stock form, piston wise I use the Wiseco pro lite and it’s flawless it will even come with the lubrication holes drilled if you buy if for this particular year and lubrication holes on the piston for this bike is a must bc she likes to get really hot on the exhaust port side, talking about heat, Do not put an Iron sleeve in it iron does not dissipate heat like the oem nikasil and if it gets too hot we’ll you already know, oem needle bearing, oem center case an clutch inner case gasket, you can use aftermarket head gasket, servo gasket and reedblock gaskets to save some money and those will work fine.
4th part would be setting carb and the rc valve, so the carb it’s easy, all the Honda guys will tell you to put a pkw in it but if we are talking about saving money you just need the s8 or the s7 nozzle and a Jd jetting kit and with the procircuit jetting recommendations and the jd instructions you should have the bike dialed pretty quickly, for setting the Rc valve Mr Brian D Mobley did a video a while ago and he explains how to set the valve correctly.
5th part is essential things for this bike on the performance side, so first for taking care of your fresh rebuilt bike is installing the Mxbonz air box fix because this bikes have a serious issue with sealing the air box and it’s insane the amount of dust that the bike will breathe on the stock form, procircuit exhaust is the best price wise and performance for this bike, last time I checked on parts giant they had a couple available and in motosport, boyesen or procircuit exhaust flange is also a must(the stock one breaks and the engine could get destroyed if that happens) the 304 factory silencer it’s better for this bike. The carbon Kevlar silencer will work on this bike don’t let anyone fool you. You can use the 05-07 reedblock manifold and the air box boot (if you can find any) I bought the last air boot on rmatvmc available, the reason for using those two is because they have a better design helping with the airflow.
Side note here before I forget, where the shroud plastic sits on the chassis will eat the frame over time, you can use some carbon pieces to cover that or grey grip tape from moto tape and that will help a lot,
Next would be plastics so this bike full red looks sexy and I’m a fan of the more modern front end and the original plastics from the shroud back.
Suspension is really good stock you just need stiffer springs for the bike and it’s a dream to handle, I managed to fit 2006 Rmz 450 cartridges and springs in the bike with the procircuit national spring perch and the bike corners like a knife.
Twin air filter mika metals chain and handlebars
2008+ front master cylinder
Oem pads
Motostuff 280mm front oversized rotor kit but if you want something cheaper look for oem crf used discs and a 2011 Rmz 450 tusk caliper bracket so you can upgrade to the newer 260mm crf front disc, you can use the oem rear disc to modernize the look of the bike.
All of the things listed are needed for making a reliable and modernized cr250. If you have any questions feel free to reply!
You don't understand how much I appreciate you taking the time to write up these comments. I have begun the process of looking through the build forums of those other bikes and I will definitely be taking some of the ideas. You seem like you have a TON of knowledge when it comes to these bikes, so I will be sure to reach out if I have any questions. Thank you so much!!!!
@@MattBerger02 no need to thank me 🙏🏼, I’ll be waiting on your next video. 💪🏼
Where you been Matt. Glad to see your making content again. Looking for to more greats vids
Thanks Paul! I've been busy this year with life, just got married!
@@MattBerger02 congrats Matt! Hope she like dirt bikes! Looking forward to new content bro 😎
NICE! Excited to see the turn out on this one
You and me both!
🙌
Lol for my broke to built entry my swing arm linkage got stuck too. Had to take it into a machine shop to get it off 😂
No way!!! I was about 2 seconds from doing the same thing lol.
@@MattBerger02 yea man, I did all the same stuff you did and even the machine shop had a hard time getting it out. They ended up having to grind part of the frame to be able to press it out 😂
I know how it is to have a seized bolt my swingarm bolt was stuck solid tried everything you did and then put it in the press
Yeah... not fun at all
@@MattBerger02 that's why I always take my bike apart and grease everything
HE REMEMBERED HIS RUclips PASSWORD
Yes I did!!!
About time you post another video
Haha I know!!!

Finally, the dude who makes some of the best bike rebuilding vids out there! I'm excited as Honda is my fav. My bro had one of these in 250 flav growing up.
Wow, thanks! I really appreciate that.
I would love to rebuild the motor.
I can't wait to rebuild this one!
Make longer vids, PLEASE!!! Nice to see you working on dirt bikes again.

Tusk Scissor Lift stand. They are INCREDIBLE. Highly reccomend.
Really well done video! Looking forward to the series - super fun to see different filming and editing styles for inspiration. Added you to the "channels you might like" section on my channel!
I stole your "voice over" style on this one... lol!
dude you are up there at the top of the rebuilding guys. Niemela, DirtNIron, MxRevival etc. Keep diggin, we need these. You the man.
Wow Chris, I really appreciate that. Thank you!
Haha I just got done with a 2002 cr250 and I was just waiting to hear how hard the linkage was going to be. Getting the bearings out of mine broke a vice. Good luck with this. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product.
I haven't even tried to get the bearings out yet...
