You must of missed the part of them saying that the watches have appreciated in value .
Buying these type of watches is similar to buying art which isn't necessary collected because they personally like it .
The purchases are mostly for investment purpose .
But I think Jay Z likes his watches along with them appreciating in value which is an added plus .
Wealthy people seeks to move as much of their cash into tangible assets that can withstand the depreciation of fiat paper money value and them purchasing big priced items is how they do it .
