Killing the dishonest host before they could kill Alexander was the morally correct thing to do
That reminds me of the dummy who did a "review" on ER after like 10 minutes where he said he'll refund it because it's the worst game ever. His reason? He attacked Varre repeatedly despite his warnings and then got repeatedly killed by him whenever he respawned.

@@KatyaAbc575 But you literally get punished by killing him too early for a worse version of his shard talisman. That, you would otherwise get by an honest completion of his quest line
@@anordinaryfaraamknight7370 You get a weaker version but you also get it immediately rather than at the end of the game. Having access to a 10% boost for 100% of the game is generally better than a 15% boost for only 30% of the game (I think that's a generous percentage). Of course you want the better version for PvP but in terms of PvE progression, the benefit of killing Alexander is huge.
@@FurtiveCutless Nah, you don't even really need to use ashes of war that much in the early game in PVE. And on top of that, you won't get that better talisman until NG+ if you go the route of a villain, that is.
P. S. AND you won't get a Jar helmet so that's already a no-no
If Chase plans to grab most if not all items, that means he will HAVE to pick up St. Trina's Torch.

is there a specific reason for such a big jump from +3 to +12 at 31? is it just since most people end up getting a +8 from roger's rapier or the banished knight halberd guy anyway?
I think they were trying to kill Alexander for the jar shard, but in my opinion if your not a challenge runner, just finish his quest for the Alexander's shard, the one only has 10% boost on ashes of war, the Alexander shard has 15%. Still, just don't kill him, hehe what a maidenless behavior for those guys.
10% for the whole game vs 15% for less than 1/10 of the game.
Sadly going for the Warrior Jar shard is just more optimal 😢

Roundtable doesn't ruin any questlines. Only npc it affects is D as he will teleport there if you don't talk to him but he'll still have the same dialogue essentially
Roderika as well. She'll teleport there, and you can still get the jellyfish spirit ashes from her by talking to her

@@yeahwhy5331 not sure exactly.. I'm fairly sure I didn't go to stormveil this last time, just the roundtable. I thought that this was what you were talking about though, NPCs who are affected by you simply visiting the roundtable hold. Not that it will ruin any questlines, rather you can still complete the Aurelia one even if you miss her at first.

My favorite PVE setup for the Hero Class is the Marias Executioner sword. Millicent’s prothesis give the perfect amount of Dex to meet the weapon requirements, and combining that with the winged sword insignia and Godfrey Icon makes the weapon art hit like a truck. You can get all these pieces by the halfway point of the game and it only gets stronger with the thorny cracked tear and Alex’s Shard.
I enjoy the modifications to this concept. I much prefer this actually, but you are heroic for doing the previous criteria

Hey Chase! I was inspired by your first run to start my own. I'm not nearly as good at pvp as you were, so I made it a rule that I can use pve runes to level, but my level cannot exceed the number of furled finger remedies I have, since I get those when I kill hosts or blues! I'm around level 80 after on and off playing, and it's been a blast.
Great video here, really enjoying the difference in this one, where you are actually using the pve runes for upgrades and stuff, where the last one you were only using pvp runes. i feel like it'll speed things up a bit, but maybe that's not what you want. Anyways, it's a pleasure watching your videos.
This crazy I was just restarting ur level off pvp series as a walk through for my pvp play through
I love this series, happy to see "Season 2"! Just a note if you ever do this again, there is a way to get a permanent invasion finger without fighting any bosses. You can get the recusant finger from Volcano Manor instead of the Bloody Finger from Varre. Here are the steps needed to get it right after getting Torrent:
1. Go get both halves of the Dectus Medallion from Forth Haight and Fort Faroth (shown off in this video)
2. Complete Rya's questline in Liurnia (speak to her, buy her necklace from Boggart, speak to her again until you get the invitation)
3. Go to and take the Dectus Lift to get to Altus
4. Speak with Rya to be teleported to Volcano Manor (as you exit the lift she'll be on the left against the retaining wall)
5. Speak to Tanith to get the room key, go in the drawing room and the finger is an item on the table
And that's it! No boss killing, so you can still fight Margit and Godfrey. I do this on basically every playthrough now. The only downside is that it will have you go to Altus, which will progress some questlines. Here's a quick list of the missable things I am aware of
1. Recusant Henricus will no longer invade, making the Hammer Talisman impossible to get. Ironcially the two conditions that stop him from invading are killing Margit and joining Volcano Manor, so like in this video you'll need to do this
2. Going to Altus starts the Radhn festival, meaning the the entire beginning of Ranni's quest (meeting Blaidd underground and having to go on the goose chase to learn it's Radhn's fault) is skipped. So far as I am aware, there are no items skipped from this, just dialogue. Ranni's quest will continue perfectly fine from here, you just join her whenever you first visit. It also progresses Alexander's quest to this point, meaning you don't have to interact with him at all (he will still be at Redmane even if you never freed him from that hole).
3. Some NPCs may move locations. Documentation on this is pretty sparse, the main one I'm aware of is Rodirika will probably move to the Roundtable Hold. The trigger for her to move I believe is going to Liurnia. Only missable thing here is that if you talk to Rodirika first and get the Jellyfish, when she moves to the Roundtable she'll leave a free golden seed in the Stormhill Shack.
It's possible that there are other things, but so far as I am aware that's all that happens/ is missable from doing this method. The biggest (short-term) loss there is that since Redmane Castle is in it's festival mode, the Redflame Whetblade for Fire and Flame Art infusions is now locked until you beat Radhn. If you're doing a run that needs that, it's actually pretty easy to just go into Redmane and grab it without killing anything. Hope this is helpful to you or anyone else!

Yesss! I loved the first playthrough so much I decided to do a modified version of it myself and I've been having so much fun with it. Thanks for the awesome content and inspiration Chase!
Elden Ring is actually the only Souls game where breaking a quest without killing an NPC is impossible. Some quests steps might be not what you expect later on (like finding out about the centipede rune from Rogier and initiating the Ranni questiline that way) but it's simply not possible to miss a quest from what I've seen.
I'm fairly sure that Nepheli's and Latenna's quests have a failstate that doesn't requires you to kill any NPCs, speaking with Melina at the forge before killing the Omenkiller at albinauric village and getting the Castle Sol half of the secret medallion respectively. You can fail Seluvis' quest by giving Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade, which also doesn't requires you to kill any NPCs. I suppose you can also count Bernahl?If you kill Rykard before interacting with Bernahl at Volcano Manor or without interacting with him at all you will find his bell bearing and armor at his normal spot in the manor iirc, though he still invades you in Farum. Maybe Diallos?I don't exactly remember, but I think his quest has a failstate if you kill Rykard before speaking with Diallos in Liurnia.
Edit: Rya. Rya's quest cannot be completed if you killed Rykard before speaking to her in the Volcano Manor.
Edit 2: Joining the Volcano Manor without speaking to Rya in Liurnia locks you out of Boggart's questline
@@l.o.v.e-sick5330 you can actually save Boggart if you don't talk to Rya and leave him in Liurnia till after you let Dung Eater tied up. As for Selluvis' quest, it can be finished without all of its rewards, yes. As for Nepheli, that one's really hard to f up and it basically requires you to beeline bosses only. House Hoslow questline is also really hard to break.

I think to make this more of a challenge you should permanently have a calling on, if you're invaded and you kill the phantom you get to use their souls and the ones you currently have one on you for 1 level per phantom killed, if you don't have enough souls to level then you don't get a level, so store a high amount of souls to keep levels on invader kills but lose all your runes if killed (forced to use Memory of Grace after death)
Get the invaded experience for once ;)

This game is insane
My first playthrough was strength/arcane, I highly recommend farming for powerstance grave scythes. Bleed infusion can proc after only 2 L1s plus it still has pretty great damage output without the bleed. Great crouch-poke and jumping L1s as well. Also great range for roll catching with sprinting L1.
Wow, that was so much more exciting than all the Build videos. Seeing Chase as a low-level player makes the invasions look almost like the outcome is in doubt. :-)
Its pretty amazing how well you memorize all the items and locations so fast. I have a perfect route for my runs that let me get all flasks seeds and tears with all maps all the way to Farum Azula.

that tanky guy from the last invasion was wearing Bernal's armor, so its actally be possible to get it right away if you kill him. Its really good early game.
There were actually a good amount of phantoms with strong builds. Sometimes a good build really makes you think they are overleveled, untill you kill them.
