In 1980 I remember going into a show room that had an Alliance on the floor. My friends and I walked up to it and tried to open the door. The handle came off in the show room of all places. Not long after that I bought the black RX-7 next to it. One of the best cars I ever had.

The Honda Accord has been on Car and Driver's Top 10 List longer than any other model(34 times). Some people say the Accord is overrated but being one the Top 10 list that many times shows you what a great product the Accord is. I know, I used to own a 2007 Accord and it very solid.
My mom gave me her 1998 Honda Accord about 5 years ago. Sat for about 2 years because I had to replace the transmission then it sat for another year because I enjoyed driving my new 2019 Chevy Duramax Z-71 and my 93 Vette. With gas going up, I've parked the truck and vette and have been driving the Honda to work and back. Yes it is the ugly faded green but I love driving that car daily for the last 8 months now. Good cars! Thanks for watching!
I had a 1981 Honda Accord hatchback. It had a peppy engine mated to a 5-speed manual tranny that got great gas mileage. It was a very reliable small car. I would have kept it longer but it was totaled when a drunk guy in a Corvette decided to take it and four other cars out that were parked along a street. The car from the list I'd love to have now is the Fox Body Mustang GT. It still looks awesome even if the engine was lacking the horsepower we now expect out of our 5.0 engines.
The Isuzu Impulse was introduced in the USA in 1983. I bought it in 1985. I loved that car. I drove it to the moon, then to a junkyard when it blew the head gasket. From a practical standpoint, I should have traded up before wearing it out, but I identified with it. Little-known fact: The Impulse was built on a GM “T” chassis, which was also used by the Chevette. Everything else was different, though.
I don't think any of the cars *"sucked".* I think the problem with cars like the Renault Alliance is that Renault never provided a good service network. Every car needs to be maintained if you want to continue driving it. What good is driving a car if you're not going to do what you can to keep it running?
Friend of my brother had the Renault and I took it for a drive. Stick worked fine and I thought it was okay. Maybe long term sucked but it seemed okay really. I worked at a Honda dealer in '82 and any Honda was awesome all three models; Civic, Accord and Prelude. Back then 8 out of 10 Hondas sold at this Toronto dealer, Parkway Honda, were manuals! Now? Maybe one out of fifty?

My Uncle Jack had a 1983 Chevrolet Impala sedan with a 305 V8 engine with 4 barrel carburetor similar to the Caprice Classic! It was an excellent full-size domestic car, attractive, reliable, and fast! My family still buys Chevrolets and I am a proud owner of a 2015 Camaro LS sport coupe with a 3.6 SFI V6 and 6 speed automatic transmission which is still attractive, reliable, and fast too! I love it! 😁😍
Although I was only 10 yrs old at the time, too young to drive at the time, I remember these cars. My oldest cousin had a 1977 Toyota Celica. My parents had a 1979 Celica. They were rather basic compared to the Supra L type in this video, but that made it no less fun or exciting. :)
This is my favourite generation for the Volkswagen Rabbit (Golf) GTI and the Porsche 944. Although I couldn't afford a Porsche at the time (I was still too young to drive), I still found the car quite attractive to look at.
I loved my Datsun Z car it was the best I also bought a Mazda RX 7 I used to like the tach it went up to 7,000 rpm before the red line.. Fun car to drive and dirt cheap..

I had an 1975 Renault R-12 (4 door sedan) in high school. Sneaky Dealership sent everyone with a registered Renault and $500 bonus trade in offer ..... I drove the Alliance. I kept the R-12. That car lasted me another 15 years. Never a problem, and it was so ugly - nobody ever wanted to steal it or break in. Perfect college car.
I had that 83 Renault Alliance in the early 90's as a used car just after college. It was hands down the biggest piece of crap car I have ever owned and I've owned a lot of vehicles. It was about 9 years old with less than 70k on the odo. I owned it for about 5 months and in that time it blew the head gasket, the catalytic converter went, as did the CV boots/joints. It was also very prone to electrical issues and had the alternator replaced twice. It was a horrible car.
I was 18 and decided to stop and test out a 1981. WOW....It was a fun car. Couldn't afford anyhing like it but at least I can say I drove one lol. Thanks for watching and the comment Mike . Hope you're a subscriber to our channel.
The white Honda Accord was an '84 or '85. I did a double-take because I owned one just like it, minus the pin stripes. Great reliable car with decent handling and pep. Of the seven Honda cars I have owned, five were Accords. 2 '81s, 2 '84s, and I still drive my '02 SE that I purchased new. My other Hondas? A '72 N600 and a '91 CRX Si. 😁🍀 I enjoy your videos @Boca Brothers!
Tastes change over time. A 21 year old me in 83 bought a Marquis Brougham. My dad and brothers saus fit and finish on GM's sucked. I always liked the looks of the Caprice Classic and would have preferred it. A 59 year old me having owned a Camaro Z28 would have snapped up the Mazda RX7 instead.
I owned a total of six 1st-gen series 2 and 3 RX7s, all with the GSL package and some of them simultaneously. Recirculating-ball-type steering boxes notwithstanding (thanks to Mazda's bean-counters), these were most excellent-handling cars, reasonably quick for the era and had that most intoxicatingly-high-revving 12A rotary engine. Fuel economy, while not great, was no worse than that of its closest competitors from Nissan and Toyota. With proper care and feeding these engines would last as long as most other engines of the day. Unfortunately, many were owned by college coeds, hairdressers, accountants and yuppies - the vast majority of whom did not know that oil changes every 3000 miles - and oil top-ups every 1000 miles - were a thing with the rotary. They paid dearly in out-of-warranty engine replacement costs.
PSYCHED! My car made the countdown at No. 2: No regrets with my 1983 Mazda RX-7! Loved the 5-speed manual transmission and the rotary engine. Great car and affordable too. I had 3 RX-7s from 1979-1992. Then when the sports car was redesigned again and far more expensive, I switched to the Mazda Miata. Big disappointment, though I drove it for nearly a decade. Then I switched to the Audi TT. Yeah, it cost more, but worth it, especially in power...
My favorite automobiles of the 1980s was the Chevy Corvette, Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Ford Thunderbird, Ford Escort, Chevy Chevette and the Ford, Chevy, GMC, and Dodge Full-sized Vans and Pickup Trucks😊❤👍
Was it the 1983 Cadillac Eldorado that GM had to retrofit with an iron plate under the driver seat...because some genius in engineering forgot to balance the damn car out as it stood?
I had the little brother to the Supra - Celica GT-S in white. The driver's seat was way head of it's time and best for many years. The side bolsters, thigh support, and the 3 airbags for the back support fantastic seat. spent '89-'05 in the new and used car business. I don't remember ever driving a Renault alliance. I remember the car being one to avoid. the accord was a well made little thing but wasn't even in the same galaxy as a Benz.
When the RX7 first came out, I went right down to by one. Unfortunately the dealership had a long waiting list, so I waited. Finally I got a call saying my number came up. Back down to the dealership I went. Such a beautiful car, that is until I looked inside. What's with the black and white, checker board upholstery? They said it was the only upholstery choice. I was not going to fork out that much money, on my first new car, and get seats that looked like a board game. Later, I was so glad that I did not buy the RX7, once the major engine problems became known and the cost to repair was astronomical.
I test drove a 1980 while I was in high school. Trying to figure out why they would let a 17 year old and his girlfriend test drive the car. It could have been used and we were in our 20's. I can't remember. lol.... None-the-less, it was an awesome car. We couldn't afford one but loved the way they look! Thanks for watching! Subscribe!
