  • Hello railfans! After Fullerton Railroad Days, I decided to head up to Santa Fe Springs at the "double crossings", just east Los Nietos Junction to catch a little bit more action before finally catching Santa Fe 4-8-4 "Northern" steam locomotive number 3751 on its trip from Fullerton back to Amtrak 8th Street Yard in Redondo Junction, Los Angeles, CA. Here you will find BNSF, Amtrak, and Metrolink action including a CSX ES44AC trailing on a BNSF intermodal freight and the BNSF "Flag Unit" trailing on another intermodal train, PLUS BNSF 5542 leading ATSF 3751 along with a Pacific Parlour Car, a Superliner car and AMTK 822 trailing on the rear. I hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching!

    7:23 Amazing Catch. A Steam Train is very rare to catch because those were the trains people would travel in. Although they retired because they were air pollution to the country but amazing and outstanding catch. Keep up the good work. Liked And Subscribe.

      Metro Rail In Los Angeles Production no they were retired because diesels were more economic they didn’t know about that stuff in the 50s

    Very cool. Honestly, I'm surprised the 3751 didn't lead, but it's still super cool.

    I could be wrong. But I always thought 3751 was pushing that diesel.

      The diesel and the steam loco were both working together.

    Why was Santa Fe #3751 not leading in the consist it was in?

    • @LARailProductions
      @LARailProductions  7 лет назад +1

      I don't believe BNSF approved it to lead on its mainline. Also, it is much easier to transport it having a diesel leader.

    • @TomedysTrains
      @TomedysTrains 7 лет назад +1

      I never heard of BNSF no longer allowing steam locomotives leading trains on their lines. Seems almost a bit wasteful financially to have it in steam in the first place if it couldn't pull the train, even for a somewhat short distance from Fullerton to Los Angeles.

      The BNSF locomotive was also a part of the display at Fullerton Railroad Days, most likely the reason they put it to lead.

      Oh I see, I forgot that BNSF #5542 was on display there too.
