Great video! I like the point where u mentioned to take advantage of the extra man, players will often pass the ball up the court to early like 8:49 (which seems like the unselfish option) but actually keeping the ball yourself will make the opponent have to make a decision.
Great point. Sometimes you want to push the pace and hit the wing. But doing so does remove you from the numbered situation (3v2->2v2), so not always a good decision.
that's not the case in that moment. the right read WAS the pass ahead, just not that pass. the other pass on his side would've created a 2v1 and an open 3
This video alone taught me more the most I’ve watched and simplified it enough for me to understand. Didn’t even know about dribbling right to left as you drive. Gonna work on this, thanks🔥
Love the music as always! Also love the wide variety of footage from different levels of basketball! And happy to see my personal favourite trick of executing that behind the back dribble to blow by a defender who reaches for the ball while you run down the court! It is super effective if you have the handles! Always recommending your vids to friends to work on their game! So meticulously and clearly instructed! :)
@@NickHernand on my experience I always try to not end up under the basket and box out then I jump with arms streched out and just grab the ball this works in defense as well in offense
Coach thanks I really want to become a basketball player but here in my country basketball isn t popular and i need someone to learn these things from much appreciated🙏 can u do a video for scoring as an undersized guard it would be very much appreciated🏀
At 9:11 I believe I see what should have happened. The goal was to get a wing cut. And the big man running the left wing had a wide open lane for an easy dunk with Mark Price down there.
Quick question. Whenever I sprint and drive to the basket I always feel like I lose control and balance. I’m on 5 10 so it’s not like I’m tall either. Any tips for being able to keeping speed into finished with balance?
Work more on ball handling. I have the same problem. Learn to look up while dribbling to see where the defenders are and get used to stressed situation.
leak out can be deadly for rebounds, if u dont box out your shooter, he can take the rebound and its a 4vs5 with little reaction time, its a nice play but very danger one
At 8:45 those 2 guys on the wings should have sprinted ahead of the ballhandler to the 3 point line to set up a pass and cut opportunity. The guy receives a pass at the left wing then the original passer should cut immediately to get the ball right back, which is basically a give and go on the 4vs2 fast break. They lost that opportunity because they 3 teammates were lagging behind the ballhandler, and he wasn't attacking hard enough nor commanding them to get to those wing spots. Now he could have gotten a layup himself with his teammates a little bit behind him and the defense expecting him to pass or wait for everyone to catch up.
It's crazy how so many of these clips are Russell Westbrook, it just shows how dominant he is when it comes to driving despite being shorter than most NBA players all while being a point guard.
Hey Coach Frikki. Could you please do a video on 4 vs 4 half-court game tips? I often play half-court game here in China. Not many chance for me to play full-court. Really appreciate it.
These things can work really well in pickuo games, but you need teammates who like to run and are willing to position themselves when you recognize it and notify them. If you're playing with a bunch of selfish guys who want to go 1on1 all day then it will be difficult. You're also going to be unevenly matched in fastbreak situations because teammates will stay back after a defensive play. That's when you slow the game down and wait for your team to go up court.
Yeah you gotta study and use these concepts over a long period of time to nail them down. Very few even NBA players have these concepts down. To spot numbered situations and how to perfectly capitilize.
on that 3on2 situation clip at the 9:11 time stamp from the 93 all star game where Tim Hardaway tried to pass it to who I thought was Karl Malone at first; should the first guy who passed the ball to Hardaway at half court have cut? Because that's what I see in that situation if the guy comes out on Tim to take away the open 3 point shot. If he doesn't come out then Tim should shoot it. I also believe the first guy passed it to Tim too early or Tim should have ran a little deeper before receiving the pass. An earlier pass at half court allows the defense to quickly camp themselves in the paint to take away the backdoor cutting big man as well. Am I right or wrong?
Spot on. If you're gonna pass it, pass it later. You only want 1 pass when you have a numbered advantage. Run patiently until everybody is perfectly spaced, 1 killer pass and get a high quality shot.
hey coach my basketball coach keeps playing me out of position I play PG I am really good I am a playmaker I can pass the ball very well and dribble very well but my coach plays me at the wings I guess and he plays another PG who can barley dribble and make good reads at the one how do I solve this problem ?
@@danielmason6900 I did that and he played me as a guard just once I had 6 assists and 11 points the next practice next thing I know I am playing at wing again
Why can't I run and dribble the ball in the same hand on fast breaks in the open court? unless Im driving in the half court, i lose the ball when im sprinting upright with the ball in my dominant hand. I can only sprint doing the alternation thing
Does switching hands on every dribble really make you faster ? It just Looks like it makes you go side to side more which should make you lose speed ? Also another point you didnt cover is to take the shortest path towards the basket but thats kind of common sense.
Yes it does make you faster. If you switch hands you are dribbling every 3 steps. Which is the fastest. Just try it out yourself. Dribbling every 2 steps slows you down. Dribbling every 4 steps is a possibility but it's awkward and can lead to a carry.
@@CoachFrikki ok thanks I'll try it out. I love fastbreaks, sometimes I which the court was longer so it would be a bigger aspect of the game, but I never paid attention to how many steps Im taking between dribbles. More steps means you can swing your arms more and run more like you would without the ball, is that why its faster ?
@@lucaskellan4909 Yeah you throw the ball ahead (while switching hands) so the ball doesn't slow you down. Just try it out. You'll quickly find how nice it is to speed dribble while switching hands.

Box out, but, if the guy is too much close to the rim, box him to under the rim, it's difficult get rebounds too close to the basket.

Won't throwing the ball ahead lead to an easy steal towards your defender
You do it only when there is wide open space in front of you.

You don't
1) Don't get trapped.
2) And wait for your teammates to join you.
3) Then attack.
