  • Jpin along as we get rolling with some asphalt millings thanks to my college buddy Dylan. A few heavy loads to work the Mack till it says no more to the belts. Then a roadside repair and spreading the loads out to make the barn yard and roadways better. Thanks for watching along.

Duffy , I had belt trouble myself some years ago , they would twist and roll over and run off the pully, I even had a belt run off and rap it's self around the Around the harmonic balancer and take out the crank seal. , I changed out the water pump twice and the Alternator 3 times, and it would keep doing it , Finally, this old retired truck driver told me what the problem was , after he looked at my truck , he told me I was running the belts Too tight , I'm running them with a 1/4 inch of slack now and I got 5 years out of one set of belts now and I haven't had any trouble with it since , now I'm not saying this is what your problem is , and I'm not telling you what to do , but I'm just throwing this out there .

Its hard to imagine that the muck you are leveling off will make a firm base for the roadway , really needs something more substantial like coarse gravel from a quarry

We had a scania V8 in a generator that was chewing up belts by the dozen, there didn't seem to be anything out of line but we eventually discovered that there was a difference between the depth in the center flange of the alternator pulley which in effect caused the middle belt to be taking up more of the drive than the other two causing it wear quickly and snap, it usual took out the other two when it broke.

Chris i had the same problem with the belts a few years back . I tried match , OEM green ...... they kept spinning off. no one could find a problem, multiple garages thinking new eyes on the problem. over $,2,000 just in belts not garage time, i tried one more time spent the hole day shimming ,checking for square , or damaged pullies or shafts, tensioners. looked great . started it great . dove 500 ft wrapped around the alt and air compressor brought it back . slapped a $ 1,000 for sale sign on it. IT was a INT 2500 s glad that truck is gone. One thing i regret, was not trying converting to serpentine

Belt alignment breakage is always these two fan or power steering pulleys on any vehicle. FACT💯❕❕❕❕❕❕❕❕Tip never tighten V belts only snugg enough that you can’t make the belts slide around the pullies with both hands to keep from overheating and bending the pump shaft. Plus belt slip spray helps a whole lot.

That was my first thought when you said 15 hrs has to be a bad pulley. Good luck getting it straightened out. Those killings work great once they get packed in. A 90 degree day works best for spreading them; then they set up like asphalt. I agree with you about the auto slack adjusters.
