- Chris from www.icreatables... shows you how to cut glass tile. This video shows how to use a two bar tile cutter to cut glass tiles. The tile cutter uses a carbide tip to score and break the tiles on your cut line.
Tool used in this video amzn.to/374dLb4
I bought an inexpensive one and then sold it online like on Facebook marketplace.
The video talks about:
-What a two bar tile cutter is and how it works
-How to cut individual glass tiles
-How to cut mosaic glass tiles
iCreatables.com has many other helpful tips for installing tile and other home improvement projects. Thanks for watching!
For me, the ideas in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.
This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.
I'm putting up the exact same glass mosicac you are. This video really has relieved alot of my stress cutting mosaic tile..thank you!
This is waaay easier than I thought it would be 👍👍👍
Really good short to the point demo.
Thanks, I was dreading cutting tile, especially glass tile but your video make it very simple & clear!
Glad I could help!
Lets see how to cut out for electrical outlets.
Thank you! I was told I would HAVE to use a wet saw, and I've been sweating it!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Marge Platt I was told the same thing!!!! If a person is not sure, just say so...... Happy I found this channel. Hope your project goes well 😊💕
I'm trying tomorrow.
@@latangelahigginbotham293 how did yours go? I was told same that I'll need a wet saw. Please let me know if using thia tool was also a success.
@@latangelahigginbotham293 how did it go, I was told the same thing
Thanks so much for this video. You explained it so well.
Glad it was helpful!
Been doing this with glass tile for so long haha saves time and money 😀
Is this scoring wheel the same one used for porcelain/ceramic tile?
Thanks nice vid, short n sweet, going to give this a go.
Thanks this was very helpful!
Easy to understand, great video
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great Video...
Thank you so much for sharing this.
The wet saw did a great job for me.
Wow I will be trying this tool thank you for sharing
I want to do this but think it will be hard to cut out what I need for the outlets? Is it the same method? Could you make a video?
Hey there 👋 great video you got here. I just bought mosaic tile for my backsplash that has stone, metal, and glass, do you this would work for that?
How would you cut the glass to fit around plumbing in the wall?
So i can use tungsten carbide scoring edge for glass tile
Where do i buy this and what is the best brand? Thank you
Guh! I started with a wet saw after another video discouraged against this. Going to have to give this one a shot.
Did it work?
Thanks. greatly appreciated.
I have 3x9 glass tiles, this was very inconsistent, I had a new carbide wheel and it was just too thick and I damaged too many. Also long cuts that where you are breaking off a half inch, is not negotiable with the scorer. I had to use a wet saw with a glass blade, it went smoothly after that.
Great video. To the point !
Wow! Thank you so mich for this video ❤💕🥰
You’re welcome 😊
Do you have a link to the cutter used?
Thank you 😊
Smart, Thanks for sharing
Does it have to be MD brand? How about the Blue Hawk brand?- Thanks
Thank you SO much 😊💕
Thanks but what about if you only need to cut part of the tile? I already places the electric boxes, and some tiles will need to be cut length ways. This could get real tricky
How would you cut a notch into glass tile?
thanks but pretty basic stuff similar or identical to regular tile. i am more curious about the rubbing stone comment and how one can deal with cut glass tile edges in the field so they don't look cut or have a sharp edge. My application is for feature elements on back splash above stove and sink where i can't hide cuts like in a corner.
OF CV If you do an internet search for Tile Rubbing Stone you will find them. They work the same as sandpaper. You will need to slowly work the cut edges to remove the small chips along the cut line. If you want a shiny finish the tile edges can also be buffed. It is a lot of work but it sounds like your situation requires it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for feedback; I discovered "wet/dry" fine grit paper to help the scrapes on glass and stainless tile. Scrape lines or marks came from someone proudly removing paint but not understanding the implications to substrate.
Lets see that video on cutouts
How do you reduce sugar in sugar?
I was eyeing a mesh tile mosaic backsplash that has stone as a component. Would this method work for that material or would you advise renting a a water tile cutter instead?
+Salinea This style of tile cutter is designed for regular ceramic tiles, porcelain ans natural stone. So it should work. I would test it as every type of material cuts a bit differently. The key to this style of tile cutter is to get a good score mark on the tile before snapping it.
Your intro music is the same they use on the bigger pockets videos. Bigger pockets is primarily for real estate investors. It’s just funny that on a Reno video the same intro music plays
It is stock music on imovie.
Whats the name of this tile, where did you get it?
I am in the process of installing the same glass mosaic tiles you show in the video and I'm using the same tool but having a hard time cutting the glass horizontally (long wise). What is the best way to cut them horizontally?
I used a "Skillsaw" tile saw, $89 from Lowes. And a "Rigid" glass tile blade $32 from Home Depot. Our backsplash needed two blades to complete. You'll get the best quality cuts with a saw in my opinion.
How do you make a cut inside the tile, like taking a notch out of the center of it?
That is very hard to do, most tile setters cut the tile in half and then take some out of each side. You may be able to drill the tile but that is very hard to do.
try cutting from the back slowly with and angle grinder and a glass diamond bit, checking the front as you go to make sure you dont pass the desired line
You make it look so easy. Lol
Thanks for watching.
What about corner cutouts?
If you are careful it will cut diagonally as well.
How about an L-shaped cut for glass tile?
That’s what glass nippers are used for.
How do you make a 45 degree cut?
There is a mark on the pad for 45 deg. Line it up hold it tight and score it.
What would you use for cutting those Moroccan or leaf shaped tiles and you need to cut away only 1/2” or less from the edge?
A spinning tile saw.
Where to buy this tool ? Thanks
You can get it here: amzn.to/374dLb4
It can also be purchased at home stores.
Thanks
For people thinking of doing glass tile backsplash. This method is not practical and will not work when you get to corners and outlets.
I can scratch a straight line all day long.
Doesn't work for every tile, but a great tool for sure
What brand is the cutter?
+triumph1974 I believe it is a Blue Hawk Tile Cutter
MD manual 14 inch tile cutter $20 on amazonThat one is not the lowes blue hawk manual tile cutter.
Obviously, long straight cuts are child's play. Lets do those 'L' shapes.
Don’t be an idiot. Rent a sliding wet saw. This crap breaks glass everywhere and can’t get anything done
