You are so inspiring! It’s just like sitting down with a good friend and chatting about sewing. Except it is only you chatting 😅😂🤣🤣🤣 “anyhow” you are lifting up so many with your smiling face and girly, down-to-earth way of being. Just lovely. The last dress: fabric 4 or 5. Happy sewing. Hugs from Norway 🇳🇴😊
So pleased you've given a shout out for the Cocowawa Honeycomb Dress - it's got lovely side panel styling. I've made two and there's a third cut out ready to sew. I add a ruffle to lengthen the dress as I don't want anyone to see my ultra white legs!😂
I think the tiger print would be perfect for summer with gold (or turquoise! Or red!) accessories. Remaking previously used patterns is such a good idea- no puzzling over them trying to work out what the designer meant!
Option 5, the viscose twill will give the shirt dress that little bit of stability and the darker color will be great as an all seasons dress. Happy sewing. I can’t wait to see your final result
Absolutely love the print of the viscose jersey t-shirt! Dresses are so comfortable and versatile. You have the most gorgeous fabrics and patterns!! You wear them all so well!
Such great dress ideas and beautiful fabrics. I vote for the Chambray, since all the other dresses you are going to make in printed fabric, will nice to have a plain solid dress 😅
Lovely plans Ruan! For the last dress, I vote for fabric #2 or #4. The first fabric is my favorite (leaves with animal print), but I think that it would look so nice as the Rita dress with the floaty skirt to show off the fabric. 💖
I like option 1 and 2 for that dress. That green fabric is beautiful! I still don't consider myself to be a very experienced sewist, but I have sewn a couple of Style Arc Patterns. I would suggest reading through the pattern ahead of time. I write down where/when I need to finish the seams because the pattern doesn't do that. I think the patterns might use the term "stay stitch" instead of "basting", which can be a little confusing if you're totally new, but you aren't. Maybe the terminology is a little different in Australia? Anyway, the drafting is excellent. They have so many choices. The styles are super cute. You've got this!
The Vienne dress is going to look gorgeous in the red fabric! I don’t think the zebra fabric is too autumnal, it’s going to look lovely. I vote for the Monstera fabric, I love that print 🤩
i love all your pattern and fabric choices for work dresses, and if you look at them all they are so different to each other so lots of options. Love the reta shirt dress, i have two and find i wear it in autumn as its quite warm with the amount of fabric it takes. As for your collab dress obv fabric 1 with the big leaves and you know it 😉 however if your a bit unsure having not make it before then use one of the others that arn't quite as precious!
A fun vlog Ruan and very inspiring with all your dress making plans😃 i’m excited to hear that the Quincy dress and the Rita shirt dress are included. I have had the Rita shirt dress pattern for a while, and have considered the Quincy several times! Love all the fabric choices.
I love that viscose satin but I think that would be better made up in something simple like the Lotta dress. Great selection of dresses though and I will look forward to seeing what you make.
Hi Ruan, it's fun hearing about your plans! I think the tiger print is absolutely doable! I think it would go beautifully with pale pink accessories. 😍 I've made the Reeta in a print with a black background and wanted to do it again with more of a solid safari vibe color. I've also made the Quincy dress in a print, and really like that one too. I'll have to check out the Palmer dress....I've got about 5 other SA shirtdresses 😆Just read all the sentences 3 times out loud - every word counts 😉 Staystitch means baste, flatstitch means understitch, ... there may be others. The "helpful tips" is like General Instructions and everything counts. I'll love seeing the dresses you've got in the queue!
Ruan, Love watching you. Glad you are on holiday. Here is my 2 cents. Yes, to the brown animal print, it is so you and can be used year-round -- so to me it is definite. Regarding the Style Arc Palmer... I have made one Style Arc -- Bennett pants and I am 5'2". I had to make major adjustments for fit -- I am talking inches and inches .... and I made a muslin to be sure I understood their limited instructions -- and even doing the muslin - (it was weeks before I made the final garment) it was like starting again and not telling you the words I used for days!!! ... DESPITE all this -- they are the most comfortable PANTS!!! And the look great (at least to me). So you can see I have mixed emotions about Style Arc -- but I would say give it a whirl. I loved your #1 fabric viscose green leaf with animal prints -- so you and the dress will show off the fabric. After I see you, I may give the Palmer a try.
I like all but I really think you should do the most stable fabric. The thing with viscose is it can be slippy and that is more a challenge than the pattern. Factor in collar buttonholes etc My personal favourites are 1 and 3 but I would make your first make of the pattern in option 2 as it's cotton. I love Style Arc - almost everything I make is by them. I think they unnecessarily get a bad press over instructions. They have listened to feedback and now have both printed new instructions to patterns [available free to anyone who has previously bought the pattern] and put tutorials on their website. Can't wait to see what you make.😎❤
I think no 3 or 5 for the style arc dress . I like the autumnal fabric for the Reeta shirt dress as sometimes they are a good option with English summer weather. I like the autumnal fabric for the Reeta as some days in English summers they are better suited.
Beautiful dress patterns and fabrics Ruann! I laughed so hard when you were showing the Jennifer Lauren Handmade Quincy dress and you asked "where's her knees? She has no knees!"😂😅
Definitely #4. I love that fabric and it would look amazing on you. I am a much less experienced sewer than you and I have made a lot of style arc patterns. The instructions are fine.
WOW 6 dresses, lots of sewing and they will all look fab I’m sure. I like the fabric for number 4 and think you should go for it. I’m off to find your community tab now to vote for the last dress. Good luck, and look forward to seeing how you get on ❤
Exciting…crazy how we change what we wear, I think a lot has to do with how ready to wear fits us and how we can make clothes actually fit us! I’m excited to see them all made up and some beautiful fabrics to make them from. I won’t vote - I think I have challenged you enough 🤣🤣. But I do have my favourite, let see if your viewers pick the same as me for you…. Can’t wait til we have our new Shirt dresses by Style Arc 💕🦩💕💖🦩🦩💕
Ooh can’t wait to see if you would have chosen the one that comes out on top! Thanks for the challenge. It’s good to be taken out of our comfort zone! 🤩
for the shirt dress i think option 5 - the astrology sign one - lovely colour. The Reeta shirtdress will look gorgeous in that fabric and so suit you! the light blue chambray fabric would look lovely as a Marnie blouse with the pin tucks xx
Hello Ruan, My name is Valerie and I live in Las Vegas, NV, USA. Your channel is such a joy! I love your fabrics and the clothing that you make, which provides inspiration in my sewing. My vote for the Style Arc dress is the dark blue fabric with the light blue "zodiac" symbols. Happy sewing!
Found the Comunity tab (yayyyy). For me the SHJ fabric but I see that option 1 is winning BUT that fabric is so so beautiful (they are all lovely but that one is a step beyond beautiful). However, whichever one is voted for and chosen will be gorgeous. Option 3, option 3 option 3. Can't wait to see them all
Okay, I knew for sure you would include a TATB Lyra. You shocked me. LOL. I love all of your choices. I especially look forward to seeing the Honeycomb dress in the green vicose with lurex. I just made a Sew House Seven Regalia Blouse with mine. I used a different vicose for the inside bits. It's a beautiful fabric. ❤😊
I like the tiger print in Australian that is a summer look. I do not know about the community page, but my favourite fabrics are 1 and 3 and the last one. I really like 1 and 3, the last fabric with the blue might be the best for the challenge dress as I think it is better to save favourite fabrics for patterns you are more confident with.
Exciting plans, go for them. Tiger print with gold sandals are perfect for summer. Shirt dresses: if you like the pattern make more because all of the fabrics seem good for this. My favorites are #1 and #4 with red button for both!
lovely fabric options for the final dress, you may want to think about the printed options and pattern matching with the lines and multiple small pieces of the style arc dress. BTW given the level of sewing you do Style Arc will be a breeze.
Lol I literally looked at the blue viscose and thought I need that in my life! 😂 Need the red in my life too! Need the animal print leaves and the black with the white and pink… probably just your whole stash 😂
I’ve watched this twice, as two of the patterns you’ve mentioned I couldn’t stop thinking about, so I had to find what they were. 😆 I’ve come to a bit of a stop with my sewing this month because I made two skirts which highlight my mum tum, and thickness in the middle😕. I need something to get my sewjo back, hopefully a lovely new dress will do the trick 🤞🏼
Style arc patterns are my favorites! The instructions aren’t detailed but they give you all the information you need. I love my Palmer dress I need to wear it (I made it for summer during the winter)
… FABRIC NUMBER FOUR !!! Yes I am shouting so you can hear me voting lol… all these fabrics and dress patterns are just awesome Ruan , I’m excited to see them all come to life .. hugs xoxo Monica 💙💙💙
Option #3. When you held it up to your face I thought it complimented your skin and hair. And I think the fabric will give you a sophisticated high end look.
Hi Ruan, as you are such an experienced sewist you won’t have any problem with style arc. I’ve made several and although the instructions are hopeless you can work things and sometimes even do your own thing. Any of your fabrics would be great but maybe use a fabric as a practice so you don’t lose a fabric you really love. Good luck, you can make a Style Arc dress
I love the white and pink on the black background. The tiger print dress is gorgeous. I have a dress pattern similar to #3 dress. Last summer I found two matching Mary Quant beach wraps at a vintage show that I'm hoping will work with the pattern. I love shirt dresses even though I've never had one. Way back in the 60's my best friends older sisters wore them and we both wanted one. Maybe they didn't make them for little girls. We also thought we would learn how to wear makeup, and be super cool like her one sister. That never happened either. Well at least it's not too late for a shirt dress!
For your shirt dress I can't pick one, but 3 is close enough 😂 love the monstera leaves viscose, sew hayley Jane Black and pink and the FB viscose twill. All sooo pretty! ❤
LOVE the look of that JLH Quincy dress. I ran right into my sewing room to see if I’d purchased it before - YEP, it’s just waiting for me to make it up as well. I love her dresses. I wore one yesterday in fact. OK, now I’m going to watch the rest of your video…
All your fabric is just delicious 😍😍😍😍 What fab pattern suggestions! I’ve not heard of that Jennifer Lauren one… *runs off to check it out! Happy sewing
I’ll go and vote now (monstera ❤ ftw), but just speaking from personal experience when I’ve made a shirt dress in chambray it felt like a nurses uniform 😮 😂 I cut it down to a shirt, so at least I saved it, but maybe I can save you from a similar fate 😅
6 - ooo lovely pattern. Wishing you lots of luck. I have definitely been put of attempting a style arc pattern. 🍀🍀 Omg love fabric 1. Don't think I would choose a chambray. I think fabric 3 would make a great tate romper. No 4 not for this pattern. Ooo no5 would be fab. Do fabric 1 or 5. Maybe both 😘😍
Love all the dresses that you are hoping to make! Never made the Lotta, hopefully yours will make up my mind. I like option 4 or 5 for the Style Arc dress. A great selection!
I have made a lot of Style Arc patterns and instructions on the older ones were sparse but are now so much better. You will not have any problems. Good on Stacey for forcing your hand!!! 😂😂. I vote option 4 . Good Luck. I look forward to seeing all your makes. 😊 Happy Sewing. Lynne
Can you go back to work so we can have the sunshine back please Ruan ! 🤣🤣🤣 The Quincy dress looks gorgeous! Hmm I might like that for my holiday plans now 😇 looking forward to seeing what fabric is chosen for y style arc collab with the super gorgeous talented StaceyJ ❤️ I went on a school trip to Chelsea flower show (obviously eons ago) I grumped about and moaned about it for days, sulked for the whole 6 hour coach journey then absolutely loved when we got there - fell in love with plants, gardens and all things horticultural 🤷♀️ 😢
I think option one for your Style Arc Palmer dress, the tiger print would make a stunning summer dress and I see your option 4 as a beautiful Vienne Dress?
Hi Ruan. You're going to have a beautiful collection of dresses! Both brown and animal print can be considered neutrals. I had a caftan/dress combo back in the 70s with a similar print in caramel and black. It was by far one of my most picked items to wear when getting dressed in the morning. In my climate (California), the warm brown and gold and sand colors are prevalent in the summer. All the hills turn golden for the dry summer months with no rain. Some species are drought-adapted to put on their fall show, with leaves turning yellow/gold then brown, then dropping off to be bare gray/brown sticks at the beginning of the summer heat to conserve water rather than supporting leaves through the dry season. The lush green season is short and is sometime in late winter/early spring, depending on how much rain we get. I'm going to think of you sewing while surrounded by all kinds of lovely color and patterns, Antonia
I think the brown/black tiger print is gorgeous for summer but you'll also get plenty of wear out of it in Autumn too - very versatile! Thanks for some great inspiration, I'm always on the lookout for day dress patterns and you have some that I haven't come across before. 😊

Hi Ruan. Loving your channel from Wausau Wisconsin USA.
I vote for Fabric 5.
The Vienne dress is going to look gorgeous in the red fabric! I don’t think the zebra fabric is too autumnal, it’s going to look lovely. I vote for the Monstera fabric, I love that print 🤩

The brown tiger print is definitely a neutral, would look great year round xx
I love that viscose satin but I think that would be better made up in something simple like the Lotta dress. Great selection of dresses though and I will look forward to seeing what you make.
3 - ooo the vienne looks pretty. Ooo pretty fabric. That will look fab ❤️❤️
I like option one the big monstera leaves in animal prints, I think it screams shirt dress and would look wonderful on you.
Hi Ruan, it's fun hearing about your plans! I think the tiger print is absolutely doable! Ooh that’s really good to know. Thank you!
All amazing fabrics and patterns. On your poll and 5 fabrics to vote on, love number 1 x
Exciting plans Ruan, lots to look forward to. That viscose satin is stunning (but I didn’t vote for it). Enjoy your weekend. xx
Ruan, Love watching you. Glad you are on holiday.

Great vlog Ruan. Oooooo that fabric number 4 reminds me ofMerimiko , sooooo gorgeous. X
So many gorgeous options - can't wait to see these all made up! I'd love to see that FG viscose twill as the Style Arc dress - lush! xxx
Beautiful dress patterns and fabrics Ruann! I laughed so hard when you were showing the Jennifer Lauren Handmade Quincy dress and you asked "where's her knees? She has no knees!"😂😅
🤣🤣
Definitely #4. I love that fabric and it would look amazing on you. I am a much less experienced sewer than you and I have made a lot of style arc patterns. The instructions are fine.
Lots of fun fabric and stylish dresses. 💙🧶🌈🍓

5 - awww that looks cute! Love a bit of lure! That will look pretty 💚💛
First one - leaf print
Exciting plans Ruan! I vote pale blue chambray for the shirt dress 🙌
Ha ha. I surprised myself 😂
The red Vienne dress will look fab. Red does suit you!! Greetings from Vienna! ❤
Thank you ☺️
4 - love the pockets. Definitely not for beginners. Love the fabric, it will look stunning on you 😍
Option no 1 definitely ❤️
I love the plain blue for the shirt dress
I think the option 1 would be great!
Wow! I love all of your choices but especially love the fabric with Monstera leaves on black with animal print!!
The blue on navy astronomy print for the Style Arc pattern! But the viscose satin is also stunning!
I like the green with leaves best but I’m voting for the blue. You are going to be busy!
2 - oh yes the fabric would look fab with a pair of tights come autumn 😂
Love the Quincy dress xx love how honest you are about dress sizes. Love the fabrics
I try not to be bound by what i "should" wear. I don't go by"my" colours, if something doesn't fit with the current season, i just go for it.
Love that bright red fabric Ruan...will be fun to see how the Vienne dress looks in it. xxKaren
The Style Arc shirt dress would look great with the viscose/satin, dark background with white flowers, good for day and evening.
Exciting plans, go for them. Tiger print with gold sandals are perfect for summer.
Shirt dresses: if you like the pattern make more because all of the fabrics seem good for this. My favorites are #1 and #4 with red button for both!
I absolutely love option 1, the greens are superb will look fabulous on you 💚💚💚
the colours in the t shirt suit you!
Option 2 light blue. I was thinking that even before you showed the fabrics. A statement piece of jewelry and narrow light brown belt
lovely fabric options for the final dress, you may want to think about the printed options and pattern matching with the lines and multiple small pieces of the style arc dress. BTW given the level of sewing you do Style Arc will be a breeze.
My vote goes to the chambray ❤😊
Love option 4 for the palma dress
Lol I literally looked at the blue viscose and thought I need that in my life! 😂
Need the red in my life too!
Need the animal print leaves and the black with the white and pink… probably just your whole stash 😂
Ha ha. We’re defo fabric twins!
I’ve watched this twice, as two of the patterns you’ve mentioned I couldn’t stop thinking about, so I had to find what they were. 😆
I’ve come to a bit of a stop with my sewing this month because I made two skirts which highlight my mum tum, and thickness in the middle😕. I need something to get my sewjo back, hopefully a lovely new dress will do the trick 🤞🏼
Hope you smashed out an amazing garment that you’re happy with honey 😊
Style arc patterns are my favorites! The instructions aren’t detailed but they give you all the information you need. I love my Palmer dress I need to wear it (I made it for summer during the winter)
My vote plain blue. You said it resembles denim and I think that would be very cute
Number 3 gets my vote as its lovely and summery!
… FABRIC NUMBER FOUR !!! Yes I am shouting so you can hear me voting lol… all these fabrics and dress patterns are just awesome Ruan , I’m excited to see them all come to life .. hugs xoxo Monica 💙💙💙
Definitely the green animal print!
The green cocowawa is my favourite. It’s such a good colour on you.
Number 5 is fab and it would make a great shirt dress xx
I love the white and pink on the black background. The tiger print dress is gorgeous. I have a dress pattern similar to #3 dress. Last summer I found two matching Mary Quant beach wraps at a vintage show that I'm hoping will work with the pattern. I love shirt dresses even though I've never had one. We also thought we would learn how to wear makeup, and be super cool like her one sister. That never happened either. Well at least it's not too late for a shirt dress!
Go for it on the shirt dress!
For your shirt dress I can't pick one, but 3 is close enough 😂 love the monstera leaves viscose, sew hayley Jane Black and pink and the FB viscose twill. All sooo pretty! ❤
😊😊
4 - I think a pair of pumps and denim jacket would be great with it in the summer.
The blue on blue would be.great for the last dress
Number 3 would look beaut in that dress pattern
Fabric 1 for style Arc😊
The UK is gonna get warmer as of May 30th because I’m coming home from Costa Rica 🎉and I’m bringing a suitcase full of sunshine 😊 Happy Days!
LOVE the look of that JLH Quincy dress. I ran right into my sewing room to see if I’d purchased it before - YEP, it’s just waiting for me to make it up as well. I love her dresses. I wore one yesterday in fact. OK, now I’m going to watch the rest of your video…
Can’t totally see you in this pattern!
All your fabric is just delicious 😍😍😍😍
What fab pattern suggestions! I’ve not heard of that Jennifer Lauren one… *runs off to check it out!
Happy sewing
😂😂
OPTION # 1, BEAUTIFUL
We've been to the Chelsea Flower Show twice and really enjoyed it.
Blue astronomical print for me
6 - ooo lovely pattern. Maybe both 😘😍
*so not do 🤣🤣 bossy much 😂
Option number 1 gets my vote….but it will look great in any of your options.
Voting for option 1 (the green leafy print) for your Style Arc dress - - because your face just lit up when you described it and talked about it 🙂.
Great selection of fabrics, option 3 would be my choice for the Style Arc dress.
Ooh, lovely fabrics, my vote goes to the black/green monstera animal print :)
Hmm I might like that for my holiday plans now 😇 looking forward to seeing what fabric is chosen for y style arc collab with the super gorgeous talented StaceyJ ❤️
I went on a school trip to Chelsea flower show (obviously eons ago) I grumped about and moaned about it for days, sulked for the whole 6 hour coach journey then absolutely loved when we got there - fell in love with plants, gardens and all things horticultural 🤷♀️ 😢
Love everything.....good taste..
I'm going to think of you sewing while surrounded by all kinds of lovely color and patterns, Antonia
I love option number 1 the Colours and print are beautiful
Love all those plans😍
I think the brown/black tiger print is gorgeous for summer but you'll also get plenty of wear out of it in Autumn too - very versatile! Thanks for some great inspiration, I'm always on the lookout for day dress patterns and you have some that I haven't come across before. 😊
You’re going to make SIX dresses !!! ( the green fabric) xxx
I certainly am! 😂
Great vlog Ruan, love your pattern choices and fabrics, looking forward to seeing them all made up. My vote was for fabric option 1. ❤😊
Thanks for voting ☺️
Can’t wait to see all of theses 😍. I like fabric 1 for the Style Arc shirt dress xx
Option 5 would look stunning in the shirt dress. Love all your dress plans for work too ❤
I think the chambray for the style ark dress.
