Definitive venom in 1/12 scale world. Ive never like that monstrous version of Venom. First appearance Venom still had that human form.

100% like the original "it's a guy in a suit, just an alien living suit" not the stupid monster version. Even still it's a deal breaker that the scale is wrong for me, he was still a huge body builder size guy. Like in the same way a perfect wolverine figure would be a deal breaker if it was tall and on the leaner side
@@satch4684typically gotta kinda handwave that stuff when it comes to figures though. Half of people aren’t aware of size differences in the first place, the other half would argue it’s subject to the artists per book and per look which would be kinda true.
But he was still a bit small venom should be bigger than spiderman

I’ve always preferred a smaller version for Venom, to me he was basically the “evil” Spider-Man so it made more sense. The suit never made Peter any bigger, and with Brock already being a really big dude I don’t see why it should make him bigger either.

I bought A bootleg version of this figure from Ali Express, it was and is the only Mafex figure I owned. It was really good and Really loved the figure, can't imagine what the real one was like 😂

Honestly, I never really liked this figure that much. Like you said, I always thought of Venom being ginormous, but at the same time, Marvel Legends kinda sucks in my opinion. Mafex should make a big Venom, so that way you get all the perks of a Mafex figure (a lot of accessories, amazing sculpt and paint, awesome articulation) and you get the big Venom.

Venom has consistently been written as an antihero since the 90s, but I get your point. I dislike the mindless monster that they reduce him to in certain media

I've got to be honest. I don't really care about most of the figures you talk about in your videos. I have no interest in collecting 1/6 scale figures, for both budget reasons and the concept just not being very appealing
But I just find your voice and very professional attitude when reviewing very entertaining and captivating lol. It's very refreshing in the world of over the top criticism. If I did collect 1/6 scale, you'd be able to win me over every time

This is actually Mark Bagley’s venom if you don’t believe me look at the amazing Spider-Man 363 and Josie, and if you know, during the time, Mark Bagley was writing Spider-Man and venom and carnage

looks like mcfarlane to me. bagleys venom has those huge hooks on the inside of his eyes, they’re pretty small here
bagley also draws venoms teeth as monstrous, they’re pretty clearly just teeth here. it’s 100% mcfarlane
Another reason why is because Mark Bagley’s venom is literally on the box. In fact, it’s the exact image of venom that’s on the cover of the amazing Spider-Man 362

Fun fact: the reason venom has no tongue on this figure is because its based on his first appearance in which he had no tongue it in his second appearance that he got his tongue

This is the only Venom I ever needed. I know most prefer the slobbering black Hulk look that Larsen and Bagley went with but for me, it's always been about his first appearance where he's just a regular bodybuilder guy. As for the heads, I go with the creepy smiling head because of that first full appearance where he scares the crap out of Mary Jane on the final page. It was just such a cool visual and it's great to have been able to recreate that pose on the shelf.
If you're after more of the Spidey line, I can recommend Symbiote Pete, and Ben Spidey. I was especially surprised by the latter, I never actually liked the suit he wore in his stint but the figure just pops like a charm. The Scarlet Spider version is quite nice too!

6:45 the hands venom comes equipped with are the more “I look badass in a standing pose” and the “semi-open claw hands” are slashing/aerial pose hands

Just picked Venom up like 5 minues ago and he's amazing. Mine is pretty excessively blue, which i dont mind except for the fact that the hands and pieces between the arms and shoulders are straight black which looks a little disconnected. Otherwise super happy with this piece.

Damn, I never knew that Venom's first og design has super wide eyes as default. Love the evolution of his design, he went from basically a slightly more muscular version of black suit spidey with a big ol mouth to a hulking roided monster-

I’m aware that this is based off of first appearance Venom and for that reason is solid black, but man this could would have looked rad with that blue animated series shading. Other than that though, I’d say this is a pretty solid and quality figure!

Todd Mcfarlane didnt like the big tongue, that started a bit later i believe. i kind of agree with him being a little creepier without it somehow lol. also why not just use actual lighting for the blue and red highlights lol?
