When you said you needed a dress tomorrow my eyes and brain hurt in sympathy for you _immediately!_ Also when you said you were starting the real dress at midnight. I have been there and I started praying for you because that is some real pain. Congratulation for pushing through and finishing, I hope you got to take a nap, and your dress looked amazing!

🙂 Here I am too trying to find a good pattern and tutorial before the wedding which I have to attend in 3 days🥲 I'm known for stitching my dresses a day before or on the day of the function 😭😭

@@brandydaniels_ Oh my god it's a special kind of pain to be up in the wee hours of the morning with your brain dead and your body in pain and desperately trying to turn off and you can't because you're slightly less than halfway through a sewing project you need done by the morning. I don't know how we do it, but somehow your brain by the end of it starts thinking in 4d out of sheer desperation and frankly, in the morning I often have no idea how I did a particular thing!

@@vionafernandes4619 I feel that so hard. It's always the big events, too, where it will really be noticeable if you fail! I have promised myself that this year I will prepare for my special occasions like, a month in advance. I don't know if I can do that, but after this year I'm seriously willing to try! I think my mother might disown me if I make her help me hem something 2 hours before the event ever again. 😅

What an amazing transformation! Your version was nicer than the inspo. The slit was a very nice touch. NO ONE will know that the dress was a bedsheet unless you tell them. Well done!

Tip and trick for the top. My mother would always cut an angular triangle. Of material, and pull that upward on the shoulder straps. The top of your bra connecting on either side. Because normally it will lay flat and across as it does. If you add just a connecting corner piece of material it uplifts the edges of your top. Cheers

Beautiful dress! I was thinking of doing tape to make patterns too, since I've seen it done with a lot of cosplay costumes. I'm going to try making a bodice block for myself this way.

You did such a great job! The dress looks lovely and so do you!🎉 💕
    Thank you algorithm!
Brandy, your video just showed me what the separable cups on a milkmaid top should look like!

I have been wondering how to but never did a video search! Then came your video!
Just seeing the almond shape and the gathering at the top and bottom has helped me crack the code!
Ps, This shade of blue looks very flattering on you!!!
A final takeaway I got was the Brazil tank top you wore in the intro gave me an idea for a diy Kenya Harambee Stars or Simbas tank top to wear for country spirit!
Keep making content! I'm going to subscribe so I get to see more of your creative work and follow along on your journey.
Lots of love from Kenya! 🇰🇪

Does your mannequin need to be the same size as you? Can I tape myself? Sorry just getting into sewing

    • @brandydaniels_
      @brandydaniels_  8 месяцев назад

There are lots of ways you can go about it! If youre making a dress for yourself, it would definitely be easier if your mannequin was the same size as you. Mine is adjustable so I was able to do this, I'm not sure about other mannequins.
If you want to use the tape method you just need to put on a tight fitted top and you can start taping over that. When you take it off put the tape on paper so its not sticky
You could also just use your measurements :) bust, waist, hip etc.
