I love this song. it reminds me of my childhood, spinning vinyl records in the basement with my brother, jamming on guitars and getting high.

50-year Stones fan....and, all these years later, if I had to choose my FAVORITE Stones song, it would be "Moonlight Mile". An absolute MASTERPIECE. 😃

When I hear a beautiful song, I usually ascribe to someone whom I love or have loved. this one to me is so personal that I keep its beauty for myself and for my self nurturing. it's so empowering, this song.

Sticky fingers is also a metaphor for stealing, could fit into their borrowing sounds, styles from other genres. I agree this song was a beautiful way to end the album

Great reaction to the whole album 👍. I'd recommend Let It Bleed album next. Let It Bleed was released before Sticky Fingers. Deni, I like your analysis of Sticky Fingers album name.

As others have commented, Moonlight Mile is a fabulous song and a perfect way to finish one of the greatest albums in rock n roll history. It's my favorite album of all time. I've listened to it at least a thousand times and I really still don't get tired of hearing these songs. What is interesting about a great song like Moonlight Mile is that it really never got any radio play. The only rock n rollers who are familiar with this classic own Sticky Fingers. It is an example of why you have to go way deeper than the hits or songs on the radio to find greatness.

In my opinion, this not only the best song of the album but one of the most beautiful compositions ever.

The string arrangement on Bob Dylan’s (yes, strings on a Bob Dylan album!) cover of “Copper Kettle” from “Self Portrait”, released a year earlier, reminds me of the string arrangement here.
If you’re interested in pursuing Paul Buckmaster, who provided the orchestral arrangements on “Sticky Fingers”, check out Elton John’s classics “Tumbleweed Connection” from 1970 or “Madman Across the Water” from 1971.
If you want to continue with the Stones, you can either go back one album to “Let It Bleed” or forward one to “Exile On Main St.”. Like “Fingers”, much of “Exile” was produced using their famous Mobile Studio and has a similar vibe, where “Bleed” was a studio production.
Either way, you can’t go wrong. Again, these are all considered some of the best albums of the rock era (well, maybe with the exception of “Self Portrait”, but that’s an adventure for anyone day).

You saved the best for last!! Sticky Fingers is terrific overall, but Moonlight Mile is especially good. This song is great for when you're just sitting in the dark with your headphones on. It creates a fabulous atmosphere, and you can just drift away with it. Thanks for doing this. Not many people do an entire album.

You have to do Highway 61 Revisited by Dylan, and Let It Bleed by The Stones.

There is a very Eastern music vibe to this song like there's a sitar or other Eastern string instrument missing. I love the 1.5 minute outro, it could have been stretched to more than that imo, very meditative. I like all of the elements of this song but it seems a bit disconnected to my ears for some reason. I don't think Richards was ever involved in this song if I recall correctly from his autobiography.

I just remembering trying to learn this song, before RUclips... basically the opening riff... on acoustic... didn't know Keith wasn't on it. Was it in open G? Regular? A capo? Who cares... turns out the two Micks did this one. apparently. or so I'm told. the beginning is Mick Taylor, that is obvious to me now......what the hell, I was 16..... I didn't even know Midnight Rambler had capo at with great until RUclips.... AHHHHHH!!!!!

interesting -- you mentioned the three songs I don't care for either -- dead flowers, I got the blues and -- you gotta move... so it's not just me....haha. but the others make up for the what I consider filler, but I'm sure many disagree. Thanks JMHO

OK so you have just finished one of 6 LP from the GOAT rock band. NO band has this variety with such authentcity. Mick can really change tone and vocal style like no one. Keith at his prime is riff writing. You may wanna go the beginning of the run with Beggars Banquet. Let It Bleed, Exile on Main Street, Some Girls... All have great variety.

@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN The Who are top top notch. And have great variety. But No band does blues, country and rock like the Stones. The Who never did deep blues like You Gotta Move or I got the blues. Or Country like Dead Flowers or Far Away Eyes or Country Honk. Maybe the Who could have. But they never did. Having said that the rock operas from Pete are pure genius. Nothing better ever! I have seen the Who 4 times. Every time great.

Where were hoping to go? The next mile? Big grin here. I like the fact that it doesn't go anywhere; it doesn't have to. I think it accomplishes what it intended. Of course, I could be totally wrong. Happens daily.
