Am I the only one loving this B Major? A rare but indeed beautiful specimen.

I completely agree. Skipped back to that part a lot while editing this vid. The rare key is soothing to the ears, and it brings a certain intensity even at soft dynamic markings--almost like they're about to swell into a gorgeous B Major hymn. Also, unusual keys are a great way to warm up all the paths in a brass instrument, not to mention a good musical challenge at no expense of extra fatigue.

Just discovered your channel here and am really loving it! Would like to try to record this kind of audio but when I saw what mic you use... well, I'm not prepared to pay $300 for a mic! But I'm still going to try to get a mic where I can do some recordings like this, when the corps come to Texas in a couple of weeks. Thanks for getting these! Try to get Crown next! ;-)

duncnjf Well thanks for the compliments! As far as capturing audio, one way to go is a separate stereo recorder like a Zoom H1. For under $100, you can get some great audio--possibly better than this. But you'd have to try one (at Guitar Center?) yourself. The only catch is you will have to sync the audio with the video, and depending on how bad the clock drift is, you may have to re-sync several times for longer videos. Just promise us you won't subject your audio to evil timestretching to make it match the video, because that introduces artifacts, not unlike those from lossy compression. :)

Do you recommend any certain mics that arent really expensive? Its for a nikon slr camera

TenorPhan23 For any mic in the $100 or less range, I would have to compare it to a separate recorder in the same price range like the Zoom H1. Found one example, the Azden SMX-10. But it may need some re-EQing as it says the low end of the freq response rolls off around 100 Hz (which would cut a lot of the bass). I'd just search for DSLR mics and watch lots of review on youtube to see what suits you best. A half-decent mic in the right hands can produce some nice results.
